Has anyone else had trouble with this. I tend to be very unlucky in that I very rarely get the Chocographs. I have 7 but have took well over 30 tries and thats just in the first forest.

Is there any way to improve the odds or is it all luck?

I had alot of trouble with the chocographs aswell, until i found a website that shows where everything is lol, link is below hope it helps.
Also when you just digging for the chocographs it can take a while to find them.

Yeah the first couple times when you get the Chocographs and start hunting for the graphs treasure can be a real drag. It gets better tho when you meet that special chocobo in some of the treasure boxes and he upgrades your chocobo (for instance like how FF7 had those special colored chocobo's and they had special mountain climbing and river crossing abilities?) because with some of the treasures that the chocographs, you can only get it when you have your chocobo upgraded.

yea it is pretty hard to find them at 1st but
after he turns light blue it seems like it gets a little

lol. I found the first 15 treasures all by myself(it took an eternity) and then I couldn't take it anymore so I searched online and found a page w/ch listed all the locations on the map. I was so happy . I liked the chocobo sidequest overall but i won't do it again.

and the ones in the forests just take a while but you just have to keep digging. Eventually you'll find one.

When doing the chocobo hot cold they make it harder for you to find the chocographs in any disk before disk 4 because they dont want you have acsess to any powerful items or any continents that you not suppose to be at yet.

i dont think ive ever completed this side quest i usually get bored, find it pointless, well not pointless just not very entertaing, dissapointing tho as this is one of my fave FF games

Got to understand how the world map is. It's a lot easier when you are familiar with each continent and how the terrain is. Along with the hints they give you.

Chocograph hunting takes forever! But the rewards are more than worth it!

The rewards are half the time worth the trouble. Not to mention as you go, it becomes gradually easier. But there are guides to help.

Actually, it does! The moment you get the Gold Chocobo, you don't even need the crappy airship anymore! I rode Choco everywhere, and I never even used the Invincible anymore!

Mmm the Chocograph Hunting really didn't interest me much. It took so much effort and time - where I'd actually prefer to be levelling or something. I've never tried a guide though and apparently some of the stuff is worth the effort... so maybe.

took me about 9-10 hours of searching to get up to gold chocobo .... if you read the hints it makes it alot easyer

My brother and I stayed up till 4:40 in the morning getting them all, and that sure was worth it! I love my little flying chocobo <3

How do I go chocograph hunting?
On disc 3... haven't encountered an opp to do that sidequest yet.

What do you mean opportunity?

You play Chocobo Hot & Cold in Chocobo Forest.

You find some Chocographs (I think 6 of all 24 are in Chocobo Forest).

You find the right spot.

You go with your Chocobo to that spot.

You peck.

You get treasure.

You go find another Chocograph, or you go play Hot & Cold for more.

You get to go Chocograph hunting when you first head to Burmecia, but you can't do that many. Once you get the Airship, you are game to do the whole side quest.

Opportunity, as in I thought it would be included in the main storyline. Didn't know it was a side quest and that I had to look for it in the Chocobo Forest.

Because I have replayed FF IX more than my TV has even been on, I memorized the world map. I can now find any chocograph anywhere, exept.....for that stupid ocean one! that is the only one I have trouble with! "Look for a small reef, kupo!" Yeah right.
