When I fought the last boss dont remember his name.....
The members in my party where steiner, the monkey dude...vivi...and the flute girl...Eiko thats her name....

well when the boss killed me...A small cinematic appeared of the phoenix coming from Eikos necklace and it revived my party....

the sad part is that even after that I still Lost....


the thing Is I wish to know how that happened...or how to trigger it...

I actually have it on tape...

Um...ok, so what's the point of this thread again? Also the "Monkey Dude"s name is Zidane, and the final boss is called "Necron" lol. This is nothing new, really. Also the the reason the Phoenix came automactially was probarly because you had Eiko equipped the "Guardian Mog" ability. It can happen when your party is all defeated. It has happened many times I was playing FFIX and I might have lost a fight or a boss fight. This must have been your first playthrough on FFIX or you might have known this. "Guardian Mog" will randomly revive all your party members when they all are killed, it did'nt always happen whenever I lost, but it can happen. Also without Eiko in you party you wont be able to use this ability.

I saw it happen to me once too yet after Phoenix dissapeared nothing happened we remained dead -_- it was fun while it lasted though lol

Your party members were probably all under the curse status...when a character dies with that they cannot be revived until after the battle is over. It's one of the status ailments that can be inflicted by Necron's Grand Cross.

I have to admit I've not heard of this...mainly because I never put myself in the position of having all my characters die or having Eiko in my party.

I think if you have a Phoenix Pinion equipped (I nearly typed 'junctioned'; I've been playing Final Fantasy VIII for too long! ) to Eiko as an Add-on, she learns the Pheonix summon, and if it's equipped/fully learned and the party gets KO'd, there is a chance it will bring the party back to life.
