The only Final Fantasy I haven't played... is it worth it.

I own 'em all. I've played 'em all. I'm not bragging or anything, but I just copped it a month ago and I'm playing it right now, and I'm enjoying it alot but it's very different and bizarre. I'm only on disc one so far, but it's getting better and better. I prefer the older Final Fantasy's. Will it keep me entertained for all 4 discs though? I thought I'd ask the Final Fantasy pros!

It's really what you make of the game. But yes it is a great game, and it will keep you entertained, but don't take my word for it, play through it and see for yourself whether you think it will turn out fun or not. But I believe you will like it.

I thought that Final Fantasy IX was a really great game. The beginning can get kind of boring, especially if you have played the game a few times already, but it keeps getting better throughout the game. I really think that you should keep playing the game. It is one of my favorites of the series. It did have a little more "childish" theme though compared to other Final Fantasy games I thought. Anyway keep playing it and see what you think.

This is actually my favorite of all the Final Fantasies. This game kept me entertained for hours upon hours. The sidequests in this game are long and quite fun. The characters are also cool. I also like the idea of auto-abilities. All around I don't see why anyone would be dissapointed with this game. A must have for everybody.

I thought it was a great game. It was sort of a return to the classic Final Fantasy style after going futuristic-like with VII and VIII. The character development was a little more fairly distributed and there's quite a bit of variety within the game; the world they set it in is fairly diverse with the races and such. Yes, it's worth playing. ^^

That was one of the great things about FF9. Rather than do another futuristic setting like the last two games, they brought it back to the past with the typical fantasy world. Like redoing one of the old games (FF4 for example) and sort of fleshing out the 2D version into 3D. Plus, I really liked the characters a lot more then the games before it. You didn't have some whiny-teenager who was depressed or angsty, nor was he entirely heroic.

The story of the game was impressive though it had similarities to FF7 somewhat.

Spoiler:
As in Zidane being a clone.

But overall it was quite enjoyable as the story expanded over many different types of new worlds.

The graphics, for its time, are also pretty good. More anime-ish or childish, but they were very interesting with how everything looked, especially the FMVs.

Now, when it came to the gameplay I thought it was rather clever to sort of add the whole weapon-armor/ability idea. You had to keep using the weapon/armor until you mastered the abilities and then you could move on. This included spells which was also nice since you didn't have the BUY the spells or learn them at specific level; or draw them from a monster for that matter. Then there was the fact you had FOUR people out at the same time instead of three. I always found that cooler. OH, and THEN the blue magic system for Quina was rather refreshing. Instead of waiting for a monster to attack you to get the ability, you could just "Eat" the monster once the HP was low enough and get a weird or good ability.

Anyway, I won't spoil too much for you, but if you're wondering if this is a good game then I say yes. I loved it more then the other games like 7 or 8 because of that old school feel. It's too bad how underrated it is by the fantasy fan public. The only thing I really didn't like about it was the Trance system. I mean it's basically a different version of Limit Breaks from FF7, but often I went into trance in pointless random battles rather then boss battles when I'd NEED it quite badly.

This game is actually worth playing because the storyline and stuff is great. It's also fun to find the characters last weapons then kill monsters like crazy. I liked playing the card game a lot and I used ot be really good at it.

I envy you, I nearly have all the games..... I'm just kidding, but seriously, good for you. I think that IX was great, I also think that you should play all of the FF that you can, I am finishing my collection. It was the first one I played, so I loved it.

I love Final Fantasy IX, it's a wonderful game. The gameplay is great, the graphics are the best for the PlayStation 1 system, characters are great (except for Quina), and the theme music is so wonderful. This is a game many say that square went back to their roots and returned to the king and queen time. This game will get better and better after disk after disk, you'll be sad once the game ends. If I was a game rater the score for this game would be a 9 stars out of 10.

This Final Fantasy was by far, the best one of the series. The storyline, the characthers, I even liked the graphics the most out of all of them...

In all honesty, it just seems really upbeat and so it puts me in a good mood. I like this game a lot. It's kind of different from the other Final Fantasies... Buuut... It still retains the same kind of humour it had in the other games.

Play it, you won't be disappointed.

Final Fantasy IX is really good. Once you get past disc 1, it's one of the most enjoyable of the series. Great character development, good ability system, and a pretty cool story line. The character models are a little bizarre looking, but, hey, you gotta give it to square for going in a different art direction.
