for 1 they have nothing really to add to a sequal and i dont think they should make a sequal to 9 because 10-2 was stupid and a waste of money

Lightbulb

I do agree with the majority of the people on this thread in certain respects, for instance they did ruin FFX with FFX-2 which was sad. Also since FFIX is my favorite game with FFVI and FFVII closely behind it would be sad to see them make a mockery of a sequel to Final Fantasy IX. I think if they tried hard enough they could make a deserving well done sequel. My reasoning for this statement is that they can make Zidane at the age of his absolute maturity in other words 24 years old not 16 like in regular FFIX, and he has like 5x more power that would be cool . Another thing you know at the end when Necron says "its not over yet I exist forever as long as there is life and death" proves it still exists in some demension were it cant come in contact with the physical demension, but it could with the help of another evil antagonist like Kuja, not Kuja himself maybe some ancheint evil spirit from another demension. I dont know about my little story concept but I do think it is possible to make a good FFIX sequel IMO.

I think the only thing that prevents them from making a seqeul is the popularity of the game itself, which is a pity it is a GREAT game in every aspect.

umm... im gonna disagree with the majority of you all. ffx-2 didnt ruin ffx, to me, ffx-2 made ffx look good in comparison. and no, there not gonna mess around with these older ff's people are over them, people want something new. would it be cool? yah maybe. espicially because ff9 was one of the more underrated games. final fantasy is changing, and those who oppose it will be stuck playing older consoles for the rest of there times

Hm, you all dont seem to get it, X-2 was a sequel to a game, when people play a sequel, they want something good, at least, X-2 WASN'T good thusly kinda giving the "WTF" aspect to it. As for a IX-2, I don't see that happening, at all, it just wont, IX is probably the most under-rated PSX FF there is, I personally thought it was a whole lot better than VII and VIII. It looked better, it went back to the more, er, swords and magic times instead of the guns and machinery, and it came out so far into the life cycle of the PSX, that it was pretty much overshadowed by the up-coming PS2 and stuff.

Simply put, it isnt going to happen, even though it is a nice thought.

Back in the day, when i first played this game, i came up with a pretty neat sequel.

Basically, you get a completley new party, except Vivi and Eiko, who join your party as teens.

You then play through an interesting storyline, and eventually fight with your old party side by side.

Think about it, pretty neat

They don't mean it turned X into a bad game. What everyone means when they say that (and I agree) is that X was ended perfectly and X-2 completely shattered that because not only does it introduce things completely contrary and illogical to the canon in X, but the entire direction of the game changed, and not for the better. The very fact that X-2 makes X look great (and it was before X-2 came along, anyway) shows what a disgrace X-2 is.

Now, do I want a sequel to IX? NO. IX was my first FF and my favorite, I do not want to see that game whored out and ruined by Square Enix. For one thing, FF games were meant to be standalone games and not have sequels, thus why the endings were just that, endings, not stupid cliffhangers and "BUY TEH SEQUEL" farces like in XII. Square Enix, however, will do anything they can to the poor franchise to earn money. We've all seen what they did with X-2, and the VII spinoffs have been horrid too. Advent Children completely ignores canon in VII and was turned into Dragon Ball Z eye candy. Dirge of Cerberus is not only a disgrace to FF games and even Vincent's character, but a disgrace to shooters. Crisis Core further ignores canon by introducing ridiculous stuff like a goddess in the lifestream, which can in no way be accounted for. The only chance SE would have of explaining why it's not present in VII and the planet is its own entity would be to completely remake VII (which they probably will).

SE is taking the franchise downhill. Anyone ever notice how the best games SE turns out are remakes of older FFs? That's because the company rushes projects too fast and tries to get as many games as it can out into the market at the same time, plus I'm convinced they really have no idea of how to make good stories or characters. So in short, no, I do not want a sequel to IX, I think my soul would die if they made one.

Final Fantasy IX is my favorite FF game. Everything was perfect in this game ( at least to me), the ending was dramatic but it was ALOT better then that awful ending in FFVIII. So should there be a FFIX sequal? No, because everything was explained perfectly in the game, it wasn't dragged on like FFX's ending was. FFX-2 to me ruined FFX's image as a sequal, who has an all-girl FF game? The least they should have done was to add in a few Male characters to make it a better balance. It was awful to say the least, nothing was really explained to piece the original FFX in. And I don't want FFIX to be put through the same fate. FFIX is perfect the way it is.

Sequals are never as good as the origional, take your example, X-2, no where near as universally liked as X. Better just to leave the story as it is. Besides what would the storyline be many of the cities are in ruins or in need of extensive repair
