I like Eiko more cause when she goes trance mode, she can cast twice.

Garnet is definitely the better summoner but Eiko is the better white mage. Even though Eiko lacks eidolons because of her age she makes for it by having spells such as "Holy" or "Esuna" and these spells do come in handy. And when she goes into mode she's twice the help or trouble for allies and enemies.

i didn't really use eiko o used dagger through the whole game her summons were also much better especially her final summon i forgot its name but you get it after you beat ozma or put 2 pieces together.

Uh...I'm not really sure coz' I only played part of it during the holidays. I think Garnet's OK. But all she can do is heal. UGH! Not really useful. But of course, it's useful when you run out of potions.

I think Eiko is a much better white mage. She has better white magic including holy. If we are including summons I think Dagger is better.

I thought Eiko was the better of the two white mages. She did have the Trance ability to cast two white magic spells in one turn. She was also a pretty funny character in the story. And she don't take sh1t from nobody. Plus she did have the holy spell which comes in handy in certain boss situations.

Technically i like Garnett, i never really used Eiko, dunno why. But of course Garnett zones out halfway into the game and becomes useless, so... I dunno. I dont use white mages much. I am more a brute force kinda guy, and it has gotten me through.

I refuse to believe that a six year could be the better one especially considering how could she learn all those spells on her own at Madain Sari. I give it Garnet, I like her better, but they're both good.

Dagger better as a summoner than Eiko. And eiko also haves Holy. So I choose Eiko.

I'd have to go with Garnet because she's more offensive and doesn't die as easily as Eiko does. Plus, her summons are all awesome!!

Garnet is labeled a summoner. Eiko is labeled a white mage. The first skill on the character is what determines their class. Garnet has summon first, also her trance is double summon. As Eiko has white magic first and trance is double white magic.

Hm, I chose Garnet.. Mainly cos' of her summoning abilities..

Actually, it was a tough choice between those two, seeing how both had the ability to summon, and yet heal at the same time. Unfortunately, (Since i was still pretty young at when i was playing IX) I thought I should keep the female protagonist next to the male protagonist, so i never took her out of the party if i could. Furthermore, I never bothered to use Holy, so Eiko simply did not appeal to me.

I think Dagger/Garnet is probably the more useful of the two white mages, however like DragonHeart said, by the end of the game, the auto-regen/auto-potion does the trick for everyone in the first place. You don't really need to heal too much when your HP is super high and you are regening 100-200+ HP every couple of seconds. Although Dagger has the good summons that can inflict 9999 damage, Eiko also has some similar quad nine-inflicting capabilities at a cheaper price. In any case, by Disc 4, both healers are moot and thus not needed to have a successful endgame.

I used Dagger much more often than Eiko. She had better summons as well and Eiko was weaker in attack as well, so yeah. Dagger was the better of the two in my opinion.

I would say Garnet as she still had all the spells which could be fatal to a zombie status enemy e.g. Curaga and life but she lacks holy. However I didn't really see the need for holy when I had flare and other powerful magic like Doomsday.
Eiko was ok on occasions, but as you got Garnet earlier I kind of got more to grips with using her magic. Plus she has more summons including the very powerful Ark.
