So yeah. I've been leveling up at the little area before Kuja. Don't get me wrong, things are going quickly for having all of my (main) characters in mid-80 levels. But is there any other place where I can get higher exp? Difficulty isn't a freakin problem at all...it's just getting annoying leveling so slow. Maybe I'm just impatient?

It depends on where you are. My favorite way of leveling up is just to go near Daguerro with Quina in the party. Yes. Quina. Choose another character to go along, and have Quina immediately use level 5 Death. It always works, and is an easy 15,000 experience. Couple that with level up, and hell, it's easy.
There's always Yans. Oh goody Yans. Try to put them to sleep with the night spell. Again, Quina. I sense a pattern here. Earlier in disk 3, when Steiner is with Marcus in Alexandria Castle, you can fight an infinite amount of soldiers. Give Steiner the blood sword, and kill off Marcus. Using an auto controller, turbo the X button, and use a rubber band to keep it down. Leave it on overnight, and Steiner should be at or close to level 99. Plus, you'll have a ton of gil. |

The rubber band idea is the most creative idea I've heard in ages. Hands down. Sadly, I've rejected Quina, though. I haven't worked with that character at all. Why? Because I'm not a fan of Quina.

The place where you get the most exp from a single battle would probably be vs. Yans, but then again, it's pretty hard to defeat them without using your whole party. The Quina idea is good, but very few have a turbo controller, so I've never tried it.

Seriously though, thats a really clever idea. Too bad I'll never get to use it, what with not having an auto controller. God, I hate you, Brad. ![]()

And, with Quina, it's an instant exp gaining fest when facing Grand Dragons, since they can't evade lvl. 5 death. |

from my experience the grand dragons are pathetic for levelling up, i'm just over level 70 and they only give me 8000 EXP! Memoria is a much better place to level up, especially because the card phantoms are there as well. Plus it's where Hades lives, so if you haven't fought him, you can get the AP from beating him!

Are there any tips to defeat these Yans?
I have Dagger at level 68, Vivi at level 73, Zidane at level 75 and Amarant at level 78, but I have a hard time beating three of them at once. Is there, for example, any way to undo their "blowing you out of the battle"-attack? Or is there a command programmed in the game? Because sometimes they they use that attack, sometimes they use Float on you (as a kind of counter)... All characters also have "Auto-reflect", but doesn't work against Comet, I have Vivi and Amarant use Return Magic against that. Or any way to save yourself from being infected by a virus? (Like Antibody against Poison). No, seriously, they're hell. But good for your Experience; started the battle with four, finished it with Amarant alone -> 102240 exp (+ a whole load thanks to Level up). And how can you choose to get only 2 characters in your party? Just tried it, never worked. Have to get four. The first time I finished FFIX off, I trained two days against those Grand Dragons to get to level 84... ![]() |
