I found out something today about Ozma:
If you are weak, Ozmas weaker!!!
I put off ALL abilities on every char and Ozma was piece of cake. I tried a few times and he almost never used his beter spells !!!
If you want to set abilities anyway DONT SET AUTO-HASTE!!! It will make Ozma faster too! (remember my prevoius message)
I think Ozma uses Curse less when your NOT protected against it!
Its like he sees what your strategy is... Just try to beat him with only Auto-regen and Autolife and maybe HP+20%
I tried with ONLY STEINER and I almost got him, but then he used Meteor anyways...

Good luck to you all whos trying to find more challenge in Ozma. I'll make a movie of it when Im beating him with Steiner only.

Actually try equipping Pumice pieces on your party, i believe that they absorb holy/dark. There are at the most 5 pumice pieces, which means there is enough for your party. With these you can cast doomsday with Vivi and have your party healed and do damage to ozma.

Ok so I have decided to go through the game again, and attempt to do everything minus the excalibur II chalenge, My question is what cards do you have to get before the end of each disk, and what is a good way to play cards if you wish to get them all?

Well to be honest I never gave the card game much thought except for the tournment in Disc 3 , but one thing I know for sure is as for playing the card game you have too time the cards right, and use your highest level monster cards against tough opponents,and low level cards against monster cards like namingway.

I can't give you any advice on how to play the card game better. Of all people, I've seen you post gamefaq links to other peoples help threads, so why are you even asking for help? The game is completely random so even a totally weak card can beat a strong one. Look for an FAQ to help you with how to play, but it is still random so watch out for a chance defeat sometime.

If I remember correctly, the only card you need to get before the end of Disc 3 is the Namingway Card which can be found in Kuja's room prior to when he traps you and splits up the party. ((dun remember that part to much, it was so long ago, but I know the card is in a stack of books in his room))

I knew that too, and I think you didnt have to say that because anyone having trouble with Ozma would check the Ozma helpguide on this forum and would know this already Actually I think there are only 3 pumice pieces... but there are also Pumices...

how do u beat the boss in the place were u use the bells to open the doors(disc 1)

Well in that group you are given Zidane, Vivi and Freya and if you choose, you can have Quina. One of your problems with the boss maybe that you do not have Quina. And while I am not sure if you need Quina to win, it will probably be harder fighting with only three as opposed to four party members.

As for a strategy against the guardian of Burmecia, use Freya's jump a lot since it means she will not be in the line of attacks a lot. So if she is weaken and you cannot heal her, just have her jump, it will save her for a time. Though it will mean you need to heal her later. With Quina it is best to keep him/her on the healing duty, while Quina is not a horribly offensive character, you already have your medium and heavy damage dealers, let them do all the damage and Quina cover their butts. With Vivi do focus and then a magic attack, that way you are not completing throwing away your MP immediately. Because it can be really easy to eat through all of Vivi's MP before the battle is finished. And keep Zidane healed and fighting, he is your fastest member usually, and while not always the strongest, his damage will add up.

Other things to watch for are water spells, if you have things that weaken water damage that will help out. Remember to alway look at your equipment, and it might not look like the best gear, but it may have a great secondary ability or trait on it that will save your life.

If all that doesn't work, you probably have to level up. Another option is to get some of your characters trace bars high so they will be tranced during the fight. Quina doesn't really count though for the trance bar thing because all his does is strenghthens eat. That will make it a lot easier. If Vivi is running out of MP you should probably use focus. It will strenghthen his magic.

I've never actually foughten Ozma. I'm wondering how much effort you need to defeat him...?

You need a lot of effort and your characters need to be very strong like 65-70+, but according to RagnaToad you can just un-equip all you abilities basically and then Ozma will go easy on you. Maybe it will work I think I'm gonna go check it out.

im stuck on the iifa tree on disc 2, the soulcage thing, and i only have 1 ether left, and the moogle in madain sari doesnt sell them. does anyone know a good strategy for defeating it without any ethers? i have enough potions.
