Brotherhood has levelled up - (lv 1)
Why is this game hated?

Ive been browsing through a few threads on this site and others and whenever somebody talks about this game they say it in a bad way like : "Well at least its not as bad as FFIX"

Also how is this game a cliche(sp) please tell me. And what the hell does that mean?????

I don't think this game is bad at all, its really good with a unique battle system and I love it because its not futuristic, also its old school like the classic Final fantasys 1-6 where you equip diferent weapons to make you stronger, theres no "to afraid to show your feelings" crap with the characters and it has a good storyline. The only problem I have with this game is that the character designs are corny making all the characters looking like 10 year olds.

I agree though, FFIX is under-rated, I think it's an excellent game. My second favourite Final Fantasy, I must say. I love it. Heck, my username comes form it... kinda... lol.

I love the way it goes back to old school, and the cartooniness of it is also wat I like. People say it looks babyish... but those people.... they're all dea.d Well, okay... they're not... but I'm right. The game rocks XD

IMO, i think the game wasnt welcomed too well because of its late release date. It wasnt too far away from FFX, in either country i believe, so the fanbase wasnt really too big overall. You get the odd extremeist fanboy, but more power to them. Any FF is really a good game, but its a real pain in the ass when they get released late.

FFIX, is poooooo, because it has crap graphics, and the main character has a rats tail, but if you compare that with other final fantasy's, they have nothing like that. They are just normal looking people, but the best thing about it is the storyline, it's OK

It's storyline does get confusing in chapter 4. 0_o. I was with the storyline until they got to pandemonium and garland. Then neo necron shows, which got me even more confused.

But still, i like the characters, gameplay, and the minigames. Didn't like the summons though.

It's not the best but it's not the worst either. People should just give it a chance.

I bought it, I played it...and still I don't like it. I don't mind graphics (though Steiner's SD form doesn't really make him justice...I prefer Mr. Amano's drawing better), the music's pretty good, but the story is not as attractive as the rest of the FF's, and the battles simply suck. The Trance system was lacking, and the ability learning/equipping system is simply one I dislike, because it lacks that customization that mostly all FF's have (except for FF4, where jobs are fixed, and FF6, but in this case they added a customizing element with the use of Relics and letting all use Magic). And, the final boss was too easy...if you had the right stuff (but then again, all final bosses since FF7 are relatively easy to beat if you have the right stuff, and Yu Yevon is easier than Necron, I think)

BTW, Necron, if I offended you because your "kinda" avatar was offended by my expressions, sorry, OK? ^_^

you Ppl do know when FFIX came out it had like the best graphics at the time and Still is one of the best ones for the PS1. And the main char in ever Final fantasy has turned out to be non-human in some way Zidane race just had a tail.

Okay it wasnt long till I came and made fun of all the people who says FF IX sucked or hated something for a stupid reason.

Yes actually FF games in the past have had characters not be normal humans. FF VI had an esper as a character. But it doest matter cuz.. you dont get to see it too much? I guess... I dunno.

The music wasn't as catchy why? They didnt have some fat woman singing opra shat? The only reason one shouldnt like the music is cuz it fits the theme of the game and you dont like the medieval theme to the music.

The graphics sucked? Well all the PS1 Final Fantasy's in-game graphics sucked compared to some other games. But those games also dont have nearly the good graphics for the movie scenes.

The story is the ONLY thing I can figure out why one wouldnt like the game. Final Fantasy IX had to have had the most romantic lovey story line to it. I can see how someone who doesnt like that stuff would find it boring. But the storyline was easy for me to follow.

Pandemonium - City where Garland lives. Garland reveals everything about Zidane here. Zidane after being told he was a puppet and his purpose was more to eventualy harm the Earth than anything.. gets depressed. The party see's that he's gone and go to look for him, find him and convince him hes not.

Necron - Everyone says this is confusing. I dont see how. Kuja uses Ultima creating more havoc and breaking the life crystal. From the crystal Necron appears.

It's not so much that the story line is confusing, just that you have to think and people dont like to do that.

"(though Steiner's SD form doesn't really make him justice." Could that have been cuz he was a complete **** up? Messed up all the time...ect? His clothing fits him perfect.

The trance system was lacking.... of what? Because it's everything you thought and probably possibly wished ff VII's break system would do? I remember just telling myself "I wish it would last longer" During some fights I wanted to get over with quicker. It seems to me that the trance system is just that but more user friendly.

The system did lack the ability to customize your people. At the same time.. to me being able to customize so much makes the game easy. It's created loop holes around every boss to make them easy. V allowed you to customize, but it was very minimal customizing and look how hard the secret bosses there are. VII, people eventualy found a loophole for the weapons. VIII, both ultima and omega were extremely easy. IX.. you either trained your ass off to beat him or you finished a quest to beat him. Otherwise.. it wasnt too easy cuz you HAD to have certain members in your party to beat him the easy way way, and those characters could be ones that you didnt like to use.

Final Fantasy IX does NOT suck, IMO, its the second best Final Fantasy for Ps1 and owns FFVII (yeah I said it, got a problem. I really dont see the attraction with that game and it bores me to death).

So now I know what a cliche is will someone please explain how this game is a cliche because other than the obvouisness that the good guys will win and the main guy and the main girl will fall in love nothing is predictable about this game.

Agreed, but I just dont like the way they went and did that after FFVIII's excelent realistic character designs.

Bro you have no life bashing like that. The graphics were excelent at the time and I don't see nothing wrong with the main character having a tail, it unique.

The only thing I didnt understand about the storyline was how Zidane got Dagger's memorys because that was never cleared up.

Pay close attention to memoria. I didnt get it first time round either, but pay attention and you'll notice Dagger and/or Zidane mentioning that they choose to share their memories. Kinda corny, yah, lol, but that's the way the cookie falls apart and get's trodden on.
