New Rydia, where's the angst?

This may have been just me, but when I played the original FF2 for SNES I always saw Rydia as a bit angsty and sarcastic. She had forgiven Cecil and all, but was always rejecting Edge's advances and making clever and sometimes snide comments. New Rydia (when you get her back) is all smiles and girly. Am I missing something here? Was she always that way and I just projected? Her thought bubbles are disappointing as I expected a bit of wit.

Isn't that better? I mean Rydia being more friendly and smiling, if that's the case. I thought that the FFIV DS version of the game gave more development on Rydia in a way. They made her one of the most memorable characters on the team, not to mention strong. Yeah, admittedly she is almost always rejecting Edge's advances, (making me disappointed!haha..) but I guess they might have toned down her attitude and improvised on a better attitude for Rydia, so she would become a likeable and a better character. (spoiler alert!) They even made Rydia approach Edge at the wedding and smile saying hi, when he was pretending to ignore her while he was actually longing for her. Actually speaking, weren't her thought bubbles one of the most wittiest on the team? Compared to Edge's thought bubbles which are always making me laugh.

Lul, I guess Rydia died too early to act so mature, maybe. She was sooo childish, even at the start.

Umm...I don't know whether I'm giving you a spoiler or not here. Have you finished the game? If you did, you'd know that Rydia didn't die. OK, here comes the spoiler (if you haven't finished the game)....she WAS swallowed by Leviatn, but she didn't die. She was merely whisked away to the Feymarch(where Eidolons live and probably originate from) and was not harmed, but was treated very kindly instead. I bet you already know that Rydia is a summoner and is she is good at summoning Eidolons because she is pure of heart(something like that.Square Enix revealed this). Time is fast there, and Rydia grew to be 20 years old until she returned to the team to help them against the bad guys. She has physically and mentally matured as well. This is because time there is like it is normally, but in the world time is so much slower than that of Feymarch.
