Inventory | Nothing is hard so long as you level. In every FF game I've played, when a particular part is giving you trouble, just spend some time to level up. It's that simple. FFIV for DS even lets you AUTO-BATTLE. I can't tell you how many times I just set it to auto-battle and surfed the net only to move the character around again on the world map to enter another fight. It's so simple.

Inventory | Hi everyone, I'm new ![]() I was first introduced to the series through FFVII, as I'm sure a lot of people were, my next foray was FFIX which was also an excellent game (loved the card minigame). Since then, I've been collecting the series on various platforms and have been working my way through from FFI. I recently finished FFIV for the DS, and I agree with the original poster as to the difficulty level - I found it quite challenging in comparison to the others I'd played. I also found it less engaging than, say, FFVII. I can't really put my finger on the reason why this is - perhaps just nostalgia! The minigames were good, but not as fun and interactive as the ones in later games. I ended up having to be a naughty cheater and using Action Replay to complete the game. I just got so sick of farming jellies for a stupid Rainbow Pudding, and also the fact that early on I stuffed up augment use (and subsequently missed out on Palom and Porom's augments) - it all just added up to a less than favourable gaming experience for me. So my main points about the difficulty levels in FFIV relate to the "missability" of augments and some monsters, and the randomness of item drops. 0.2% for a rainbow pudding is just mean.

Please avoid double posts, they are evil. D8< I never expected this thread to last so long, and for a topic I'd almost forgotten about. Well, I've beaten the DS game 3 times now, and it's not nearly as bad as I made it out to be. I don't recall dying once, and I feel this new difficulty was necessary. The old games were simply too easy. I hope Squeenix repeats this with FFV and FFVI DS. IF they come into existence, anyway...

It's not hard, you just need to level up which is really easy. The only difficult thing about this game is mastering while getting all items and winning the game 3 times.

Because I'm big on level grinding, I was able to complete difficult FINAL FANTASY games like FFIII DS & FFIV DS without too much trouble. In fact, the reason I was level grinding so much when I was playing FFIII was because I heard from so many people about how hard the game was. So ironically, the harder an RPG is, the more I kick ass when I play it. I don't do this only when I play RPGs, I do this for any game in general. For example, when I played the last level of the first Act of Modern Warfare 2, Takedown, I died a ton of times when I played it on Regular difficulty because I didn't think the level would be very hard. However, when I played the level again on Hardened difficulty, I died very few times. I was much more careful because I knew the level would be harder.

I was actually overjoyed to see the difficulty up. I get bored easily with games that are too easy. Though I must admit I did get rather annoyed when Zeromus decided to spam meteor on me during my first three attempts at him, after embracing that oldest and noblest of FF traditions, and grinding until my eyes bled, I was able to go demolish him just like anything else.

wow im not the only one who thought that the ds remake was harder ^^ i played the first one on snes, and everything seems so much harder, the first elemental fiend annilated me so quickly i was like wtf just happened? i have made it to the final boss (i dont own the game but i think i was around the 50 mark) and was annilated X3 but what gave me the most trouble was that dr. guy, where you fight him and his robot (which is still a joke X3) but his 2nd form (or third if he transformed on you in first fight) wiped me out so quickly, i dont remember the reversal gas in the first one, and when i did try and curaja him he would use it again before my spell went off, and i would also have rydia thundaga my entire party which helped me getting killed so quickly X3 but yea, lot harder and you really need those augments, like dual cast, missed that one and finding the game a lot harder without it
