Inventory | I really like the difficulty in the DS version. Not too easy nor too hard. Everything depends on the strategy you are using ![]()

Inventory | Actually, as someone who has mastered FFIV on the SNES and PSONE since Ive played it so much (I have the entire game memorized), I have to say too that the DS versions difficulty was kind of wonky. It wasnt easy, but it wasnt hard either, but at the same time, it wasnt just right. There were certain points where they kind of just upped some of the monsters powers unevenly and it made it kind of cheap. Personally, while I liked the DS version, didnt like it as much as the PSone version.

Inventory | I don't own the game myself but my buddy has it. He complained about it being hard as well, though said since he's beaten the other version it's a new challenge which is a spirit I respect. I saw the game laying around and decided to throw it in, I almost died twice on regular baddies so evidently I really suck, which I don't, or the game is hard! Being careful is a must!

Inventory | So far there's only been a couple of bosses that have given me serious trouble, and they were the Magus Sisters and Dr. Lugae (after he transforms into that reversal gas using robot). Reversal Gas was a nightmare because it required me to totally change my strategy. Apart from that I found the game moderately difficult, but it would've been harder if I didn't grind so much. My party was about level 60 just before I left the Underworld. I guess that's overlevelled :/ (Sidenote: I HATE it when new party members join at levels way lower than the rest of your party, like Edge being level 35 next to Cecil at level 52.) (Sidenote 2: I played the PS1 port of FFIV ages ago. I think it was based on the Easytype, FFIV DS is noticably harder.) Last edited by Krezos; 11-11-2008 at 09:26 AM..

Inventory | Do any of you remember playing through the original Final Fantasy IV (not easytype)? Most of the game was pretty easy... until the final boss. I entered the last dungeon at around level 40 (everyone) and I had to grind my ass off just to have a chance of beating Zeromus (level 70). The DS version made enemies and bosses harder overall so you wouldn't have to grind as much. The Level Lust augment also helps. I think it's more balanced than "cakewalk 90% of the game, grindfest the final 10%."

Inventory | What version of the game did you play? Apparently the PS1 version of FFIV is somewhere between Easytype and Hardtype, and if you played the original US release (Final Fantasy II), that's even easier than the Japanese Easytype. If you beat the ful-on Hardtype and were only level 40 at the final dungeon though, wow, that's good going

Inventory | Oh, didn't know all that on different version difficulties. Also, yeah, I was referring to the PS1 version, and even so, I barely struggled through the lunar dungeon. Now that you mentioned it, I'll have to play through hardtype sometime ![]()

Inventory | Whoaaa... I think FFIV NDS is easy... at least is easier than PS version. Just give Cecil draw and counterattack augments, than omnicasting to Rosa. I even play this game without walkthrough...

Inventory | I have more trouble with the older games than the newer ones. The only challenging Final Fantasy for the PS was IX but that's mostly because there aren't as many ways to get by easily. VI was more challenging than what I was used to from having played 7-9 first but it wasn't so bad after I got used to it. Tactics(PSP version) was also a bit hard for me because I wasn't used to such a strategy based battle system..I gave up midway, but I might get back to it if i can get a strategy guide or something.

Inventory | yeah the game was a pain but i beat it =) i think it took me 40 or 50 hours to beat and i used an online walkthrough once in a while...well probably more than that. anyways i had a level 99 cecil with everyone else level 90+ and i still died against the final boss the first time i fought...got him the 2nd time though. disappointing ending tho in my opinion =(

Inventory | After a ridiculously protracted absence (really busy right now) I finished FFIV DS. Zeromus was depressingly easy, seriously, I had a harder time against the Magus Sisters or Dr. Lugae than the final damn boss. Argh. Then again, a level 85-89 party is definately overlevelled. I'm currently up to the Tower of Zot on New Game +, I'm going to try not to gain so many levels this time. Is it just me, or do you gain way more EXP on FFIV DS than on the PS1 version though?

Inventory | I had no problem with the difficulty. May I say it's much better than the Tactics Advanced Final Fantasy games too. I'm hoping they remake Final Fantasy 1, 2, 5, or 6 for the DS soon. You do have to kind of level up a lot before entering a new dungeon, but it's not so bad. Last edited by FlashX; 07-01-2009 at 09:04 PM..
