Dark Knight Cecil vs Paladin Cecil O_o

The Dark Knight is actually stronger than the Paladin. The Paladin has a limited supply of mana which would eventually end. So obviously the Dark Knight would win.

This can be tested ingame when changing Cecil's job. Instead of sheathing your sword, fight the Dark Knight and try winning. It is impossible to beat him unless you're at a very high level.

Well, I have to point something out. You aren't facing a level 1 Dark Knight (try doing it stat by stat, having Cecil as an actual level 1 Dark Knight); you are facing a Dark Knight well within the surroundings of level 20. If you see it that way (you are facing the shadow of the Dark Sword around the level you had him around, flavor-wise), then sure, he is quite more powerful. Yet, try facing him exactly as he was when you started the game. Definitely a decisive advantage to the Paladin, given that the Paladin starts with an insane amount of HP and a decent weapon to boot. Also, DO note that the battle wasn't meant to be won by combat (if so, there was no point in "learning" the ways of the Paladin if you still have a Dark Knight mentality), so the DK is meant to do a bit more damage.

That battle is a story-line battle. You can't run, you can't do much than stay still and let that shadow die by your radiance. Much like, say...Galuf, from FFV, where no matter what you do, he simply can't die (until the battle ends). It's the same thing. It's rigged against you, so it does not provide for a decent comparative. Now, read them by stats (as Dawes over here often does), and you'll have a stronger point. But, then again, it's still going to be a battle where luck will weight more than raw stats or equipment (and at times, it will influence the equipment)

the DK has definate power but still his attacks and skills drain him of his HP while the paladin can heal his large amount of HP so in truth the DK would lose T^T

In the DS beating the dark knight would be a sure thing, no matter how high a level difference there is. Just equip the luminous shield from the item menu and paladin will take 1/2 damage from darkness. Add in just using defend and the DK was doing 23 damage to cecil and 1/10(or was it 1/8) of max hp to himself. 600 hp is more than enough to take over 20 hits making the paladin the sure winner.

Even though I normally like Dark Knights better then Paladins I have to say that Paladin Cecil would win.

Dark Knight Cecil starts off at level 10 with 200 HP while Paladin Cecil starts out at level 1 with 600 HP which means Dark Knight Cecil would have to do a whole hell of a lot more damage per attack then Paladin Cecil.

I think Dark Knight Cecil would win. Not just because of his Dark-Attack, but also because he's more determinated than Paladin Cecil. I doubt that Paladin Cecil would want to really kill someone (except for monsters, of course ^^). So if it's an "all or nothing" fight, Dark Cecil HAS TO win because he'll see it through to the very end.
I don't think that one of them is stronger, I suppose they're both equal. That's why I tried to see it from the point of determination ^^

ALSO. I thought Cecil (or Tina, as I named him) looked pretty stupid in his little suit of armour. I'd heard it was only a short-time outfit though, so I was cheered. Imagine my surprise when he went paladin and started looking like even more of a TOTAL POOFTER. Jesus H.

Dark Knight wins because paladin has a girl's haircut. Seriously. I always thought he was a bit of a wannabe crossdresser but seriously. Flaxen haired, Grandma's rug tied round his neck, junk in the trunk, etc.

Is there an outfit option where you can get the old one back, and make him look less stupid than he does as a paladin? I fear for Grannie's rug, it spends a lot of time getting dragged over the ground.

Paladin Cecil is not a great healer but with is Hp I don't think Dark Knight Cecil could dish out damage before he couldn't use his dark arts anymore then be in trouble.

I think dark Cecil would win, since there's no one to cover, cover is useless therefore meaning PC has a useless ability. And darkness would double his power, and if elements played in PC would probably be Light therefore darkness would be 4x effective but still recieve damage for 2x. This is assuming they are the same level...
