FFIV DS (Update 12-22 This Ain't Your Daddy's FFIV, Page 5)

I would post this in my General News topic, but no one looks at this anymore. Apparently, Square Enix is going to soon reveal a remake of FFIV for the DS, it'll be done the same style and the same team as the FFIII remake.

So what do you FFIV fans think? For one thing I wouldn't mind seeing Yoshida, the FFXII artist offer his take on the FFIV characters, and just experiencing FFIV in a new way would be awesome.

Well the S-E party is this weekend, and they've SPECIFICALLY said that Nintendo owners/fans are going to be really happy.

The news comes from a reliable, a VERY reliable, Japanese Blog site that has previously predicted things like FFXII: RW, the FFI+II PSP remakes, the Chocobo Game, and others

http://ff13vids.jugem.jp/?eid=804

(they also say FFXII International will be revealed soon)

This is great news for the world of FF. As for the 3d upgrade, i would love to see the game from another perspective than the typicasl overhead view. You do say that the source is very reliable, but they did release FF$-advance not too long ago, would they really remake a new one? If so would it contain FF4-Advance bonus dungeons as well as new sidequests?

So excited!

when they have screenshots of ffiv, are you going to put it up Cain Highwind? I sense that final fantasy has taken a very big turn since the 3d remake of the unreleased FFIII. this could be either very good or very bad. the very good part of it is that people will see the game as a new game and will demand more of it. the very bad thing about it is people would want more and more good graphic final fantasy game rather than the old version ones and thus it would ruin the series.

I'm a bit upset, these games should have been remade for DS originally instead of going to GBA. I can understand the first set of remakes, but it just seems like SE is just trying to milk the series now for all that its worth.

Platina Shield Ragnarok Genji Armor Remedy: [12-05-2008] Here's some medicine to help heal those haemeroids. - Violet

Wow this is good news.

The screenshot of Cecil looks pretty sweet. Graphics remind me of Radiata Stories in a way, but this is definitely great news. I hope they add in some new summons, magic, dungeons, side-quests, and all that stuff.

Lone Paladin does bring up a good point though. Square should've just remade them on the DS instead of the GBA, but as long as I get my FFIV and FFVI then I'm good.

It's a longshot, but MAYBE, there'll be some kind of cross-platform unlockable. This feature isn't new in DS games. Where you can get bonus material in a DS game by plugging in a certain GBA cartridge.

Either way THIS is what I wanted in the first place, I really got bored playing FFIV on GBA even with the nice tweaks here and there, so I'm thinking more along the lines of "Finally!" as opposed to "Again?"

Coral Sword Grand Helmet Reflect Mail Aegis Shield Broad Sword: [12-11-2008] - SailorCallie

This is indeed a twist in the Saga o_o..

Dawezy has much to ponder, should I grab a DS solely for this release? or grab a GBA and get the FFIV Advance~ the ROMs are cool but the only do so much. But I must critisize somewhat since I am partial to the original and such, with Amano's art-style for all these characters back in the books and all that jazz makes THAT Cecil in those Screenshots look like some.... disfigured... puppet, with a wierd paint-job. I know they may release more pictures then they have right now but thats my general view of the current snaps~

I'll admit I wasnt too much into the GBA release either, hell, I've barely touched the ROM so I havent gotten into the end-game extras that have been vouched for so highly.

That sounds really awesome. I would certainly buy myself that, I haven't even played much of FFIV but from what I have played, it's certainly a classic. I just saw the screenshots then as well and I have to say.. WOW! I am really looking forward to playing this. I hope it's as good as it looks. I'm so glad that I own a Nintendo DS!

This image pretty much sums up my feelings on this.

I've never been big on re-re-re-remakes, but this definitely makes me want to score a DS. Soon.

Nice surprise I guess?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big FF IV fan, but I can't say I'm really excited about this. Maybe once I see more screenshots I'll warm up to the idea, but I just don't like the new visual style of the game. I mean look at Cecil, his manly dark knight persona is completely gone.

Personally, I'd almost rather see a PSP FF 1/FF 2 style remake of FF IV, aka updated 2D graphics. Or atleast a 3D remake on more capable hardware. It will be interesting to see if they continue the trend with V and VI though.

I have FF IV on GBA already....lol, i don't see a reason to have to get over the same things again without the classic IV style, 3D doesn't suit all games... I wouldn't have a prob with it if i hadn't played the Advance version, but i have.

Whatever, i've watched some screenshots & although i think it's nice ( without considering Cecil D Knight who looks like a douche ), i don't think i'll get it anytime soon. I'll stick with V & VI on GBA, 'cause that way you know that you get what you pay for.

Re-re-re-remakes have a limit and a certain logic. I dunno...Besides, they're making the characters Chibi & chibi's not in my fav list.

Another remake of Final Fantasy IV? YAY!
Final Fantasy IV is one of my favourite games ever, and I see no reason why I shouldn't be exited of a game that has such a great plot and better graphics at the same time. That sounds pretty great to me. I'm sure that if I ever get my hands on it it will become my favourite portable game.

hey ive gotten a chance to use my grandpa's comp real fast so here it goes. ill agree that the ne cecil doesnt look as tough as he use to. but theese are only the first screenshots and that very well could be improved before the release. and plus just look at it they could make cecil look even better if they tried hard enough. i think that this is actually going to be a cool game. (hope i can reserve it when it comes out).

You're aware that the DS has a GBA slot too, right? It can hold a DS game and GBA game at the same time. A DS lite is the best value. (Get a black DS lite)

As for an umpteenth remake of FFIV, I support it. I avidly support all remakes and ports. A remake shows a desire to fix what was broken or to share the product with a newer audience which likely never ha dthe opportunity to play the original. Ports maximize exposure to the product.

I'm a little skeptical about having the same team who did FF3 DS do the models. I was hoping for FFIV to make the jump to 3D on PS2 with at least FFX-quality models. But that was a lofty dream, I suppose.
