How tough was zeromus to beat? For anyone who has finished the game.

I thought zeromus was real tough when i fought him. . The "big bang" attack that he does each turn hits all my characters at 1000+ to 2000+ damage everytime. Basically for defense I used Rosa's shell and jumped every turn Kain had a chance, I used throwing weapons for edge, Rydia used alot of Bahamut summons, and I just had cecil attack the whole time. Besides all of that I used an occasional elixer when my single character was low and before I knew it I finally beat him, I was so glad since it was a hard fight. I had died 12 - 17 previous times before I actually beat him.

That was a pretty hard battle. I basically used the same method as you but I sometimes had to use Cecil to heal. I thought that whole place was pretty hard.

Heh, even with my group at level 99 (got it all noted down) he was quite rough in any event. 1000-2000 Big Bangs as you mentioned + constant Dispeling kinda messes you around, but im curious as to why you were using Shell/Protect all the time when he only dispels it moments later doesnt make sense to me.

I have a question. Does your sight lie to you? Because if it doesn't i still don't believe it.

First off, do not cast shell and protect. Call forward asura who will either cast protect & shell on ALL of your characters, cast an awesome curaga on your party, or cast reflect on your party.

Secondly, Bahamut owns everything...so use him only when healing is not necessary.

Thirdly, use rosa for backup healing. (Shell diminishes curaga effect i think.)

Lastly, own him with your strongest physical guys. (Notice only guys have strenght....kinda sexist)

Overall, much like jecht(Final Aeon) in FFX, this boss was a joke. I got him on my first time...however, i levelled up to the point where i owned enemies in the moon's core. So that explains a few things.

Also have fun fighting.....

Spoiler:
Zeromus EG in the lunar ruins of FF4 advance.

that is some nice advice about the shell, but Asura being able to cast protect and shell on all your party at the same time is luckish. Although he may be able to, I wouldn't want to risk Ashura using something less good that takes up my turn when fighting Zeromus. I also wasn't sure if shell would also repel Zeromus' bigbang attack alittle bit. Last when I used it, he seemed to do less damage when he used bigbang than when I didn't have shell protection over all my characters. I still think he was quite a handful being my characters at level 60-ish.

hmmm he was tough? Really? Didn't beat the GBA version yet, so can't talk for that one, FFII for SNES he was super easy, FFIV for PS he was a little tougher, but the hardest boss I would have to say was either OGOPOGO or Bahamut.

The hardest boss for me was Wyvern, by far. Zeromus was a difficult long battle, but Wyvern could slaughter you quickly.

I don't know how effective it is, but I've heard from various sources that having Edge steal "Dark Matter" from Zeromus helps to weaken his Big Bang attack. It takes a little while to steal though, so do it before Cecil uses the Crystal -- also use that opportunity to Haste everybody, and if you really want to, Shell/Protect.

I'm not too big on Asura -- she either revives everybody, cures everybody, or casts Protect (and possibly Shell) on everybody, and usually it's not the one you need to have done. I used Rosa for healing every time -- Rydia can do much more damage in less time with Bahamut than Rosa can with White/Holy, and you'll want Rosa doing the healing (as she's better with White Magic) and Rydia attacking (as she's better with Black Magic, and Asura is iffy anyway). It's probably best to have Cecil attack pretty constantly -- but he's usually also my go-to guy for Elixers and Ether2s and such. How to use Kain is up to you -- sometimes I Haste him and have him Jump constantly because it does more damage and gets him out of the way for a little while, and sometimes I Haste and Berserk him because he still does quite a bit of damage, and much faster. Edge, though, definitely -- Haste him, then have him throw all your most powerful older weapons. Then Berserk him -- he'll almost attack twice for every one time Cecil attacks, and he's much more powerful with Berserk. (You can also have the characters use a Hermes to caste Haste on themselves and a Bacchus to cast Berserk on themselves -- or you can have Edge "Throw" the Murasame and Masamune. Can't remember which does which, but one Hastes and the other Protects, and he can use them on anybody -- don't worry, he still keeps them.)

Well, from the looks of things the guys that found him easy were the people playing the GBA versions which was easy (Most of the remakes were, but not the psx version). But anyway first time I failed to beat him, second time I used Asura, I think it was Kain to Jump which dogged the Big Bang, and attack with Cecil, kepts Rosa and Edge out cause of a counter attack. It was quite a while ago so I don't remember the exact details, but anyway he was pretty much the hardest boss of all the FF games, even the Weapons didn't seem quite as hard as him. Oh also all my characters were between 62 - 69 I think, but as Dawezy said even level 99 is quite hard.

My most recent battle againt Zeromus took place in the GBA remake.
Well, I only managed to steal the fabled Dark Matter from him once, before he became the second form. I beat him, the Dark Matter helped only slightly, knocking off a few hundred points of damage from his attacks. I beat the game, got back to the menu, and no longer had it. I was seriously hoping that I'd be able to keep it and forge something seriously awesome with it. Oh well...

I first fought Zeromus on the old SNES version back in 1992 and I thought he was impossible to beat. At that time, I did not have Bahamut and a lot of the other side quests, and I had gone through the game too fast. My game got erased somehow, and I had to start all over.

That turned out to be a good thing, as I found all of the side quests my second time through and took some time leveling. When I reached Zeromus this time, I was able to beat him, though it was still tough.

I used berserk on Cecil at the be
