Adding more characters would be retarted. There is no way to fit them into the story line for one thing. Making the characters selectable woudn't be to bad an idea. Granted, I'd most likely keep the same party that they give you at the end of the game, but it's the principle. I trained Cid, yeah he sucks, but I spent time damnit.

Well all of you already know that they are remaking the game to gba and that means they probably will make it a little longer and add more characters. Sorry about your luck there.

They're not remaking the game, they're PORTING the game, and updating the graphics. That doesn't mean they're adding new characters and changing the story. I happen to know that they aren't. You should triple-check your sources next time, because the information has been around for a while, and Square-Enix has yet to say a thing about making any changes to the game aside from new art and altered sprites and environments.
