Am i the only one with a problem against the final boss?

there i am....all characters lvl 70. got bahamuth and the rest of the summons....got meteo, both swords with Edge and (i assume) the best spear with Kain......and WHAM killed in like 2 blasts......

WHY can't i kill it ??

most of my friends just say: "why don't you just level bit more?"
BUT it doesen't work !!!!! help me out please !

I never had a problem with the guy, and all my people were about Lv.45. So, I don't know what's going on. I had Cecil and Kain equipped with all of their best items, and just had them attack (and Jump sometimes, in Kain's case), Rydia summoned Bahamut frequently, Rosa healed and sometimes attacked, and Edge was throwing all of my spare weapons at him (and that one Spoon... I forgot what it was called. Do you have it?) Anyway, that's what I did, and I beat him.

Uhm... did you use the crystal on him? Cause that's the only way he's killable.

Level 70 and you still got annihilated? damn.

If you got all your best equipment, equipped, you *really* shouldnt have too much troubles with it. But by the sounds of your post you must be missing something, because at Level 70 -> Zeromus is a pushover even though HE is Level 99. So I'll throw a few question at you.


Got the Ragnorak from defeating Wyvern?
Do you have all the Crystal set of Armour for Cecil?
Gotten all of Kain's Dragoon equipment?
All Genji for Edge?


As for you getting wiped out so quick, you ever heard of Cure4? use it.

Also, with that crystal in your inventory you should be taking reduced damage from Zeromus and his Big Bang attack... so... It could be a simple equip error on your behalf but it helps to check it out and run around the Lunar Subterrane and aquire all this equipment.

When I first beat Final Fantasy IV, I had all the best equipment and was in the 70s level area. After that, I decided to get all my characters to level 99 to see if the boss would be a pushover, and he creamed me. I have not played since then.

Zeromus is not a pushover by any means. But, there are some things players can do to increase their chances for sucess. First, as said, collect all of the ultimate weapons/armor for the characters. You should find most of it in the Crystal Fortress. If you need help finding something, let me know. Second, Cecil MUST use the crystal. He is undamagable without the forced transformation. Third, if you get Edge to steal the Dark Matter item from Zeromus (which I recommend doing before using the crystal) it also reduces the virus afteraffects of Zeromus's Big Bang. Lastly, when you are fighting the beast, and you find yourself near-fatal STOP attacking. Zeromus is a counter-attacking beast and his attacks will taper off if you stop attacking entirely. Use the time to heal (if you must make Cecil/Kain/etc. parry) then resume your fight. Oh, and don't have Rosa use White/Holy. Zeromus really bitch-slaps you if you try that. Trust me, I found out the hard way!

Aye, im not really suprised by that. Ive knocked him down a few times at Level 99 myself (hell, check my site I made a log of it) and he really packs a can of whoopass. I still had reasonably high HP for all characters but his Big Bang dealt out around 2000 dmg to all characters, makes for a good challenge all the same.

And damnit, I forgot to mention the Dark Matter. ><

my biggest problem is his black hole attack (think thats the name), the one that does ALLOT of damage, kills cecil in 2 shots......

i didn't know that he countered so i'll try to take is slower, thanks allot again and feel free to post more hints and tips.

Big Bang - huge damage to all characters.
Black Hole - removes any "good" status conditions from party (ie, Protect or Shell)

Here's some other hints:

-Get Kain to jump a lot. In fact, if Zeromus casts Big Bang, send Kain in the air immediately so he may be able to dodge the attack.
-Have Rydia summon Bahamut. I find Meteo takes too long and costs too much.
-Have Rosa cast Cure4 every round, even if it dosen't seem necessary. You don't know if Zeromus will suddenly whack you with Big Bang.
-Before entering the fight, duplicate some of Cecil's weapons and get Edge to throw during the battle. Depending on the weapon, they should do some hefty damage.
-If you're dying and Cecil's turn is next, have him cover Rosa if you told her to cast Cure4. He may die, but Rosa might be able to salvage the rest of your team.

Wow, that sounds like a shocker. With all those goodies, he manage to cream you? No way! My characters are only 61-64 levels. Hmm.. wonder is this game programmed bosses and enemies to be harder than yours proportionally...? Really odd. I just checked out Zeromus just now, and it can't really kill anyone in two hits....

Anyhow, the part about Rosa healing every single round is very important. You'll die for sure missing a round without her doing a healing job.

quite simpel but i wasted like 6 elexirs, anyways here is how i did it:

i had rosa cast cure4 every round (figures that one out on my own) and cecil backed upo when necesary.
Rosa summoned bahamut (totaly agree with the meteo costing mp thing)
Edge threw my last "Fuma" (should have saved more) then just attacked
And kain used jump all the time ofcours

it happened that some died once in a while but i actualy managed better with 3 characters than with 5....ofcours i resurected them when possible (hense all the elexirs).

I recently just beat this asshole for the first time, and I will have to say that he is NO WAY NEAR as hard as people say he is.

Many poeple will tell you that Zeromus counter-attacks every one of your attacks with 2 Big Bangs; This is a lie. I attacked him numourous times with Regular attacks from Cecil and he did NOTHING.

A recommended level for this guy is to have all your characters over level 70, as you need higher defense stats and more HP to withstand his Big Bang. Casting spells like wall and protect are useless, as Zeromus will nulify them with Black Hole. The only way to reduce damage from his attacks is to steal the Dark Matter from him, which will take about 300-500 HP of damage away from his Big Bang attack.

Rydia doesn't last too long in this battle because of her generally low HP. Have her cast Bahamut when she's okay and once she kicks the can just let her stay dead. The only people you need for this battle are Kain, Cecil and Rosa. Edge proves okay if you've got some Fuma's to throw, but otherwise he is useless do his low attack power. At Level 70 with his Masamune and Murasame equipped he should do around 2500 at best, have him attack once you've run out of projectiles then leave him in his grave once Zeromus annihilates him. With Kain, Rosa and Cecil left just have Rosa cast Cure 4 every round. Cecil at level 75 should have about 6100 HP if I remember correctly, so it will take about 3 or 4 Big Bangs to put him in any serious danger. Cecil and Rosa are your main priorities, as Kain will avoid most attacks with Jump, so only heal him if it's really necasarry. If your feeling lucky revive Rydia again for some ass kicking Bahamut. Continue with this strategy and you should have him beat.

The strategy above is for anyone having trouble with the guy, as it seems Atomos has already defeated him.

Also, Am I the only one here who beat Zeromus without duplicating Excaliburs? It seems everyone else needed that scummy tactic other than me. O.o

Zeromus is one tough son of a bitch, I will admit that. But he is beatable, you just need to stay on your toes.

The aforementioned quote is usually my strategy for fighting him. Continue to cast Cure 4 continually with Rosa, Kain Jump, Rydia Bahamut because Meteo does take too long and you'll do more damage over the long run with Baham than with Meteo because of that speed difference. Cecil attack and Edge just throw all the shit you got.

A good strat would be to move Edge's throwable items, Swords and shit, to the top of the item menu. That way it won't take you 5 minutes to find something to throw. Of course this is only important if your using Active and not Wait for the ATB.

Just keep healing with Rosa and blasting away with Rydia and have Cecil or Edge hand out Elixir's if they run low on MP. You should win if you follow these steps.

MOVE FAST though if your on Active like I am, he will not wait for you.
