As you know, FFIV was a standout title from the crowd.. every character you controlled in the game, had his or her own unique ability to put to use in battle.. im here to ask you, overall. What Ability did you find the most useful? or which one(s) did you just like! Or which one(s) you thought were just plain KICKASS!! (i'll make the poll mutiple choice, incase any of you are too picky lol) And here i come with my IMO, in saying.. Cecil's Dark Wave, was quite a valuable asset to have in your fights (early on in the game, that is) even though you sacrifice a bit of HP for every Dark Wave you shoot off (eh, anywhere from 8%-13% of your MAXHP) it damages all monsters on the screen, for moderate damage, and makes for quicker battles in alot of cases.. at around Level 30, the Dark Wave can dish out up to 90-150 (+100 or more w/ the Death Sword equipped) to all monsters on the screen, and thats not too bad considering the HP the monsters have around Mt.Ordeals and Mysidia, makes for ALOT of quick fights considering you got the HP to waste. Also, i must give mad props to Rydia and her Summon/Call ability.. Bahamut, just slaughters everything.

Inventory | Summon/Call by far. After all the work it takes to get all the summons, including the Monster ones I have never gotten, they are actually really great to use. It can really make or break a battle you did not make the best decisions in. Real life saver.

Inventory | Well, Summon/Call is the most nifty, but it isn't that useful without MP. Dark Knight Cecil's Dark Wave, similar to Final Fantasy X-2's dark knights's "Darkness" attack doesn't need any MP, only HP. There are a lot of ways to regain HP, so, I guess I prefer Dark Wave more than Call/summon. Paladins just sucks.

Inventory | I have always been a fan of jump, prevents all damage done to you, and you deal some good damage with it as well. Kain is one valuable asset when you start stickin the right elemental spears and jump on opponents with that element weakness.

Inventory | I'm a big fan of dragoons, and therefore of Jump. Yes, I'm sadistic as choose what I think is cooler rather than wat I think is more usefull, hehe. But dragoons ROCK XD

Inventory | Probably Kain's Jump since when he is in the air he can't get hit and it does more damage than his regular attack (i think 1/4 more, or 1/2 more). He goes right in the air, takes him like a few seconds to come back and swoop down on the enemy! Yeh, the Dark Wave is alright too ^_^

Inventory | I'm all about the summons myself, Leviathan in particular. Does good damage until you get Bahamut. So I'll go with summons. And Rydia is my favorite character. As for Dark Wave I'm not gonna say it didn't have its uses, it made battles go by really fast and I remeber using it alot, way back when Dawez and I were doing our Dark Knights up to level 99. But the thing about it is I found you had to heal alot. It takes somewheres around 15% of you health. *Looks up at other posts* ..erm 8-13%. In my opinion the price is too heavy and your final party can't use it. And jump was really awsome combined with the Drain Spear, but I hate Kain so blah...

Inventory | Let's see, Cecil's Dark Wave was useless, all of Rydia's Summons aside from Chocobo could do more damage in comparison. Cecil's Cover was good because it protected allies that were near death, and often saved them from the brink. Twin was pretty kickass, however it took time, MP, and both kids to get it to work. The Summons themselves are one of the best, the only downfall is the amount of MP and the time needed to activate each ability. The best handsdown, no comparison is Jump. The indisputable reasons are these, it expends nothing, it protects Kain while he's doing it from all attacks, it has no cost or MP consumption, and it does an equal amount of damage as the Summon spells do in a shorter amount of time. This wasn't even a competition, Jump rules them all.

Inventory | I found Darkwave to be a valuable asset. first off, rydia was not always in the party, second, Dark wave took no mp which was nice, and cecil had plenty of HP to spare. This move also made training very easy, just go near an in, and bam, monsters can be killed in a hurry and when healing is needed there is an inn right there.

Inventory | How is not taking MP a bonus? Its not like he would need it for anything else. I'd rather it take from a supply of MP than HP. Last edited by Jinn; 12-20-2004 at 09:08 PM..

Using it on 8 Imp's is pointless also as you could kill them off individually and they would still do less damage to you overall than you would to yourself with Dark Wave. Jump blows anything out of the water, but lets take a closer look. Why not instead of using Dark Wave and losing around 30+ HP, why not just use Bolt on a whole group of enemies and possibly take them all out for like 5 MP, while costing you no HP loss??? Dark Wave is just stupid.

Inventory | why is not taking mp a bonus? is that a trick question? because then you need not worry about being low on mp. And seeing as how you almost always have someone that can heal in the party, healing his hp back to full is a lot easier then healing his mp back. And you'll fine that if you train well enough Dark Wave can kill much more then just imps ![]()

Inventory | So basically what your saying is Dark Wave takes HP but you restore that with someone elses MP, so in the long run it costs, Rosa, Rydia, Tellah and Palom MP correct? Still costing you MP you see? Save alot of time and MP if you just used direct black magic.

Inventory | those people you mentioned have ample mp, so it was never really a problem for me. why are you carrying on with this so much? I gave my oppinion on what technique I found to be most useful and that was what the thread had asked of me. I don't recall this being a debate thread.

Dark Wave sucked a ton because it used HP. Theres nothing like wandering around with Palom and Porom in an area you arent trained for and accidently killing off poor Cecil.

Inventory | ok, because I agree with Dawezy automatically makes me his bitch? You agree with cobain, does that make you his bitch or him yours? I just found the ability usefull. Keep in mind that i have only gone through this game once and I was over trained a bunch for the beginning of it, so I never really had a problem with Cecil being low on hp. He usually killed the monsters in 1 hit with dark wave, making things go much faster and making training a breeze. perhaps if I wasn't as high a level it wouldn't be as usefull but i can't exactly go through it in my imagination at a lower level.

Inventory | No there are other reasons your his bitch but I'm not gonna list them. And to clear it up for you I'm Cobain's bitch. I started to play through the game again and to be honest I found Edward's Heal ability to be pretty useful as long as you have enough items to back it up. I hate Edward to death but I couldn't help but find this useful on the way to fight Antlion.
