FF3 (3D) in Nintendo DS releasing this 2006?

Hey, anyone of you know that FF3 is being remade for NIntendo DS n going to be released this year? This remake is in 3D environment. I'm not sure if this is still going on...... hmm....... is it really true? and when is the release date?

We'll very likely know at E3 next month. Oh and the latest Shonen Jump seems to suggest there'll be online play. Not only that, there's a BEAUTIFUL (IMO) new illustration done by Yoshida (the FFT/Vagrant Story/FFXII artist) here:

My FFIIIj translated hacked NES cart should be arriving any day now - i can't wait to compare and contrast the two versions of the game. I'm also covering some of the town music from the game, so i can't wait to hear the new arrangements in the DS version.

Holy Hell!

I didn't realise this was a remake with full 3D graphics! I was under the impression it was just a direct port, with a couple new features so owners of the DS could play one of the better Final Fantasys.

This is just great to me, wow.. I had no idea. This may be incentive for me to go purchase a DS.

yeah, and i am really looking forward to children of mana. I saw gameplay for children of mana off of gv, and it was excellent, they had a cutscene that looked fmvish with a sword dropped onto the ground. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...f+mana&pl=true

im really soooo confused with this FFIII remake on the DS, wasnt FFIII originally the story of Terra and the magi war with Kefka and the Empire and all that stuff, but now im hearing about Job system and about 4 kids who are like the main characters of the story, and isnt the job system from FFV!?
this sounds like a tottaly different FFIII then from what i knew of...?

wasnt FFVI bassicaly the same game as FFIII, as from what i heard of they were identical but since they had never released FFIII they released as FFVI on anthology...

It is indeed somewhat different, and not just the story. The 3d "virtual" graphics which will allow for zooming in and out, and specific camera views, but not a full rotating camera like you would see in some Final Fantasy's.

Also, FFIII has said to be able to be played using just the stylus, along with some online features that have not been elaborated on too much by Tanaka, but he stated he wanted FFIII to be enjoyed by friends, therefore there should be some multiplayer usage.

Tanaka has also stated the game should not be confused with the Final Fantasy VI title, so I'm guessing you shouldn't be expecting the same game you played on Anthology. Final Fantasy III utilized class systems, and the job system is a update as well.

Each character will be designed differently, and they will take on their own personalities which was lacking in the original. So in short, yes you should be expecting a somewhat different FFIII remake.

Well the Japanese Final Fantasy III was never released in the U.S. or Europe, so technically it is Final Fantasy III.

so then truley FFVI wasnt really FFIII in that case, but just an american version of the FFIII that was release for the SNES? and i would assume that the orginal FFIII that came out in japan was entirely different than the one that came out for the SNES in the US?

That's what I've come to understand. Maybe someone else will read this and correct me if I'm wrong. But that's what I've gathered from other sites.

I own FF: Anthology, but I've never played it. But I'm pretty sure

Final Fantasy VI = Final Fantasy III(US)
Final Fantasy III(JP) = Never released in US
