..brought to you buy the resident Stat Freak and Supermod, Dawezy.
![]() On a more serious note however, ive been reading through some guides and noted down excatly what job(s) can cast how many spell(s) at level 99.. it really brings a perspective onto the whole.. greatness (in a sense) of the last title on the NES that didnt receive asmuch praise as it should have. Total Cast amounts JOB: ### (Proper Abbrev.) RDM: 98 (Red Wizard) MKN: 33 (Mystic Knight) SGE: 484 (Sage) CNJ: 172 (Conjurer) SUM: 180 (Summoner) BLM: 168 (Black Mage) WLK: 324 (Warlock) WHM: 168 (White Mage) SHM: 324 (Shaman) As you can see there, the Sage is the ultimate spell caster of the game. Kind of like... a Red Wizard on steroids and growth hormones at the same time. Heh heh ![]() ALSO, there is quite an array of spells (more-so in the sense of... what they can do) at your disposal in this game. The amount of spells are as follows; White: 24 Black: 24 Summon: 8 8 Levels of magic, all have their finer points, and down points. Overall the Summons tend to win out over every single spell (IMO) as far as effectiveness goes. An easy way to think about it is, well, Summons target ALL MONSTERS regardless, (or all allies, in the case of healing spells) where-as most Black Magic spells are single-target based, and a minority of the White Magic follows suite.

Of course, if you're looking for the max white and black, Warlock and Shaman are the way to go. Why anyone would want that, I don't know.
I find the upper level black magic to be useless, especially with summons like Bahamut and Leviathan. Some of the white ain't bad though. Having two sages in the party is a good idea. Since it's possible to get two Bahamuts, you're well on your way.I agree with the summon part, from fifth level up, they take priority for me. |

Red Mage...useless?
Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffttttttttttttt tttttttttttttt! Perhaps later on, but in the early goings the Red Mage is still the image of awesomeness! Example being the first cave with all the Undead...yeah, Red Mage kicks so much butt in that area. Like all jobs, they have their places when they are useful.

I found that members statement to be quite contradictory, considering his username.
![]() psiko hit it in the head though (to a degree), ive ran a few tests and done a few screenshots and let me tell you this... the RDM can hold his ground and dish out some abuse on quite well at higher levels.. the weaponry he is stuck with may not be the best, but he can equip some of the best armour (as with most of the classes, Crystal/Diamond stuff) and cast quite alot of spells as per mentioned in the first post. The stats can be quite decieving... once you actually jump in and see it for yourself you really cant say shit about any of them, lol. RDM is a life saver earlier on in the game though, i cant argue with that one. Holy Weapons vs Undead = 200 > 300% dmg? Yes Please.

heh, red mages have always been awesome. They can hold their own in almost any situation. Very versatile job that has proven it's worth time and time again. PLus it has a cool pointy hat heh.

Seeing as how this is an interesting piece of information here, I'm reviving the thread to keep it around, and would like to see Dawezy, or anyone else who has played or is playing FFIII to contribute more random FFIII information, whether it be stuff like spell lists or anything else you deem useful.

Holy freaking crap, yeah. You should stick this and I'll help you look around for more stat-based information to toss in here. FFIIIj is a great game, but I've only played through it once, so I can't offer much off the top of my head like I can with FFVI. You should also start and stick similar threads for FFI and FFII so that all of the vital information is ready and at everyone's disposal.

Well, here is a handy little piece of information for ANYONE attempting the game for the first time.
Equipping 2 weapons can be cool (any Job in this game can, one of the marvelous features) but it leaves your defensive powers open like a bitch. One might suggest that in the long run its worth sacrificing that second phase of attacks to take less damage and not be KO. I can account for this in my current playthrough, my personal character is a M.Knight, Masamune in one hand, Crystal Shield in the other.. and you know what? I never take anymore then 210 damage. Considering the 8800 or so HP its a bonus .. I'll list the figures;Masamune - Att:201 Crystal Sld - Def/Evd:91/88% MDef/Evd: 73/41 Now, with two weapons. (only 1 Masamune in the game, heh) Masamune --\ --------------- Att:400 Def/Evd:73/67 MDef:43/41 Fullmoon ----/ FullMoon is a ranged weapon, does same damage from front and back row.. but its certainly the weapon of choice when using the Weapon/Shield combo. But in reply to the Masamune/FullMoon combonation of weapon I now take on more damage and get hit by status effecting spells more often. And the Magic Defense/Evasion is VERY IMPORTANT in the last lower dungeons of the game, alot of nasty mofo's down there. There, will that suffice psiko? ![]()
