In Dissidia, is the Emperor really a male, or a female?

Isn't he named Mateus? I always thought of him as a male. Anyway, if it was a female, the name would not be "Emperor," it would be "Empress." Like how Empress Svala of Infinite Undiscovery is a female and not a male.

Then why did you vote for Girl?

With Kuja, there is some doubt (although he is a guy) that he is a girl, because of his appearance.

But this guy?

1. Cloud is way more feminine...
2. How did you even think of this guy as a woman?
3. The word emperor...

hehe ya the queen brahn and kuja game go kind of hand in hand....called FF 9..........but anywho have you ever seen the starting video of Final fantasy Origins ffII.....the emperor's nails are longer then my hand and it looks rather feminine........who knows garnet hid her sex in 9 maybe "it" did it in II and Mateus/Matea.....maybe another disguise

Yes, his name is Mateus. But no, if you read the bestiary entry of Mateus in FFXII, you'll find that he is a guy who possessed a body of a girl, so he is in fact a guy with the appearance of a girl.

And as for the current, topic: emperor - definition of emperor by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

How is this Mateus?? Mateus is an Esper from the Ivalice Alliance (Tactics Advance 1 and 2, FFXII, etc). The emperor appearing as a Summon in another title is akin to Sephiroth being a summon in FFXIII... This can NOT be Mateus. It's the Emperor, and a male.

Well, they aren't the same Mateus. They just share the same name, that's all. But what's strange is that the Human Totema, Mateus, in FFTA appears to be female. In fact, I've seen different sources refer to Mateus as "she." However, maybe this is just an error?

Well if a guy (Mateus) assumes the body of a girl, then physically they are a girl? Just guessing. This is weird because my best friend's name is Mateus. He's a he, and it's Polish for Matthew.

I find it funny how Meigumi voted female, but when she made this, the second choice states: "He's a girl." Seems like she knew from the very beginning.

Take a look at the voice actor. He's Ken'yū Horiuchi who is a male. Therefore the Emperor is obviously a man.

He does look like a woman though
