| Final Fantasy I+II The first two titles that started it all have been made and remade for several systems from the NES to the PSP. Talk about any iteration of these two titles here. |

Hey everyone, it's my first FF ever and I need help! I obtained the Earth Rod. But what do I do with it now? I find myself going through the mutli-level Earthgift Shrine to fight the impossible monsters - although I did defeat one of them. At least I'm building up my experience and levels. So I have 2 questions: 1 - what do I do with the Earth Rod? 2 - Is there any point to the Earthgift Shrine? or is it just a great place to advance yourself? TIA!

94 | If it runs like normal FF1 (I'm also unfamiliar with the PSP version), you have to go back to where you beat the Vampire to get the Ruby. Behind him somewhat is a slab that covers a staircase. That's what you use the Rod to break/lift/remove. The Earthgift Shrine is a bonus dungeon, I'm sure. You won't be be able to make good use of it this early in the game.

7 | Hey, thanks for replying. This is my first and only FF so I have nothing to compare it to. I did get the rod and this rock did move aside to show me a staircase. That's the cycle I'm in now. Soooooo... if you think that the Earthgift Shrine (or Earth Cave or whatever) is just a bonus spot, then where do I go now? Surely there's someone here who's familiar with the PSP version. Or am I in the wrong spot? TIA!

94 | If the rock moved away to show you a staircase, that's exactly where you should go. I think the name of the location is "Terra Cavern" in the remake. If you're having trouble locating that place, in the original version of Final Fantasy, the cave was on the eastern side of the Giant's Cave, and from there to the southeast, almost directly south of the town. Here's a map: http://achurch.org/FF1maps/FF1world-1.gif You should be on the southern continent, ALL THE WAY to the west. Locate the port where you can dock by the small city. The cave you want is almost directly south of the city. Hope that helps.

94 | Through some google-searching, I've surmised you are in the right place. I don't know why the enemies are impossible though. Here is a snippit of a walkthrough I found on GameFaqs which tells you precisely what to do once you get to the part where you move the rock with the Earth Rod. After you take the stairway underneath the rock, do the following: Quote:

5 | well its not really useless you can get some decent equipment from the bosses that are there and its not a verry long dungen at all its only 5 lvls deep but there are 4 bosses at the end but you have to go through it 4 times to kill all of them because once you enter the room they are in and defeate them you cant go back out. ________ ________ |...........||...........|..........This is the basic set up for the 5th lvl of the |....1.....||.....2.....|..........dungen and the bosses are as follows |...........||...........| -------------------...........1. Two-Headed Dragon 4500HP, "Bard's Tunic" |...........||...........|..........2. Ahriman 5000HP, "Dry Ether" |....3.....||.....4.....|..........3. Cerberus 4000HP, "Kotetsu" |...........||...........|..........4. Echidna 4800HP, "X-potion" --------|..|-------- ...........|..| ...........|..| it is also neccesary to complete all 4 bonus dungens to get 100% beasteary P.S. "Kotetsu"-"A small katana designed for easy use." can be used by WAR,THF,NIN,RDM,KNIGHT,RDWIZ it really dont do you much good past lvl 40 though and another thing you might find yourself getting pissed off with all the dam random encounters in these places but grit your teeth and bear it they are all low lvl mobs that can be killed in one hit but its just annoying as hell Last edited by arhisking; 09-03-2008 at 04:02 PM.
