should they remake FF1 and 2 for the DS niw that theyve remade 3 and are working on 4?

I think that this is something square should consider doing. I mean FF1 and 2 are good games. and (from what i hear) the psp version of FF (not sure if its FF1 or 2) can switch from english to japaneese and the japaneese version in it has the japaneese dificulty.I think it would be really cool if they brought that to the ds and made it 3d not just suped up 2d graphics. I think it should have everything in the origional japannese and american version ( you should be able to switch between japannese and american versions) and should have cutscenes and voiceovers. any coments or thoughts please post.

I bought I & II: DOS and throughly enjoyed it, but they would have to add alot extra to make it worth shelling out another 30 quid for. 3-D graphics and a bit of a story wouldn't be enough. Although I would like to see what they'd make the different characters act like, seen as there aren't set characters.

I don't think they should, seing as how they're both out for psx, gba and now psp. It's kind of annoying when they keep rereleasing on different platforms.

I would consider it early for another remake of those two, perhaps moving in the direction of V and VI would be the better option

I agree. I think it would be a bad move to remake them for DS now. The timing wouldnt be right, and besides they just remade those games about 3 times....thats kinda over doing it.

No kidding, they already re-made 1+2 for the GBA, and unless Square-Enix is really the money-grubbing mother-****er it's made itself out to be it'll keep those games remade as they were, and they were decent games on the GBA.

But I can't say I'm surprised, considering S/E is remaking FFIV. I'm happy that they're doing it, except for the fact that FFIV has been released three times in North America(FFII, FFIV(Playstation Chronicles pack) and FFIV GBA version).

I just see it as another way for S/E to make money. Now, I'm not against my favourite game company making extra scrilla, I'm somewhat against them re-releasing a game for the umpteenth time(with dubbing over the FMV's!). Plus all the char's are chibby'd... lord-almighty jesus ****.

Like Kain FF4 said before why would they remake it again when they just remade it for the PSP? They already remade it on the PS1, GBA, and now the PSP. Remaking it again so soon, I think, might be pushing it a little.

It's not worth putting FFI & II on the DS. Really its not, I mean I they have ported these two games on several systems already, so what would be different on DS? Over infulated blow up characters? Like FFIII? I don't think so. I mean they remade it for PS1, GBA, and PSP, just leave my classic FF's alone already lol. I'm thinking of getting FFIV for DS but I honestly don't see the point in getting it, they're messing all the classic FFIV and adding that very stupid over influated character look to it like they did with FFIII. Just look at Kain's pic! no look at Cecil and Rosa. FFIII was bad enough, what's next? FFV and FFVI? Oh please no lol. Anyway back on topic, once ported to the DS say goodbye to their 16 bit Sprite goodness, and say hello to blow up dolls, if anything leave FFI alone, it was my first FF. Sorry for the rant

SE figured out that no matter how many times they re-release any final fantasy game, it will sell in droves. this is a good thing for classic final fantasy fans. i say keep pumping them out, on every platform in 2D, 3D, upsidedownD, HD whatever. it's not like SE doesn't have an army of their best developers hard at work on FFXIII - they've expanded as a company and now have enough resources to constantly be re-releasing old games and making spin offs. again, i'll say it:

it's only making them more money, and giving us old skoolers an excuse to play through our favorites again. how could you for one second be an FFIV fan and not die of a heart attack when you see the FFIVDS opening cinematic?!?! kain has always had long blonde hair (you see it at the end of the game) and rosa looks identical to her status screen avatar from the SNES version. it's not like the original dialog (or at least the translated dialog) was some untouchable masterpiece anyways. edge particularly sounds like a retarded 3rd grader most of the time (i think after you beat the end boss of the entire game he says something like "I'm total rad!" or some shit like that)

so i say - as someone who calls FFIIj his favorite final fantasy game - KEEP THE REMAKES COMING PLEASE. fans love fan service.

That's fine and all for now, but I can certainly see myself waking up in twenty years and it'll be the day that "Super Ultimate Final Fantasy I Complete Advanced Omega X" will be released and I'll look at my game shelf and find like 15 different releases of FF1. That would be pretty sad.

On the one hand, remakes tend to be good. However, I think Square is doing it waaaaaaaaay too fast. If they were going to remake the entire series, I'd say do it once (likely on one console and one portable), make them match, do it well, and then wait another five years to do it again. If Square gets in the habit of remaking more games than they make originals, they'll fall into that sort of trap Disney fell into where they produced more direct-to-video sequels than they did original works. The other thing is that it says a lot about the future of video games when a new and innovative story is no longer required.

i wouldn't mind if they did ff 1 and 2 ds style, it would bring a newer generation of gamers an introduction to the series. i'm getting the idea that square re-releases these classics for more and more people to enjoy, it really isn't for us square fans to buy everytime the same game reaches a certain platform if we didn't want anymore re-makes.

i don't think that's a fair comparison. disney mostly went down the tubes because a) their animation went to all shit when they went all digital, b) they ran out of fairy tails and started doing ethnocentric 'world' stories that overly simplified the human experience and white-washed most cultures on the planet with western-style show tunes. disney became irrelevant by releasing sub-par content, and perhaps not relying enough on the classics that made them who they are. also, kids stopped caring about talking dogs and geese and started getting involved in the melodrama of anime, so you can also blame pikachu.

square enix, on the other hand, is enjoying the most prosperous period of their company's history. they can pump out spin offs and CG features so fast it makes the game press' collective heads spin, all the while developing a completely new compilation of games for next (erm, current) gen consoles. you'd be hard pressed to find too many faults in FFXII - at least to the point that it's as bad as, say, the little mermaid 3 or the lion king 1 1/2 - so i really don't think there's a quality control problem at square enix.

all i'm saying is that there's plenty of original, fresh content still streaming from SE in droves, and that playing a 3D version of FFIIj would melt my mind and inflate my heart until it exploded right then and there in my chest.

sorry to say this hawazit, but the sony era of ff games were the downfall of the series. I do like them, its just final fantasy is losing its originality freshness it had back in the nes/snes days. The same thing goes for dragon warrior/quest. the new ones look cool, but the original ones had all the fun cool old school overworld exploring.
