Final Fantasy ROMs

I am looking for ROMs or Emulators of Final Fantasy II and III. I want to download them on my PC, and since they were never released in America, it is not illegal!!! Anyone have any good links?

Correction, the roms are still illegal.

While there IS an exception in the forum rules about discussing roms and emulation, it is still against forum policy to provide links to the roms themselves. Emulation in and of itself is perfectly legal -- the illegal part is the ripping of cartridges and the redistribution of said games, whether for profit or not.

So yes, while we can discuss the emulation of these games as well as provide links to the emulators themselves, anyone who provides links to the rom files will receive an official warning for illegal content.




...in other news, check Google and the other search engines if you really want the files for those games. That way, no one here will have to provide you with that information.

Oh, I thought that since they were never released in America, and since I wouldn't be taking away profits from the creators, that it wasn't illegal. Thanks for the info.

And for more info, let's actually get you some links for the emulators themselves.

Zophar's Domain has emulators for all kinds of things... consoles, operating systems, phones... all kinds of stuff. It's probably one of the best spots on the internet if you're looking for an emulator for anything. However, a lot of their older emulators are now gone.

If you want an NES emulator, my personal recommendation would be NNNesterJ. (Link goes to direct download.) It's one of the highest rated NES emulators in existence.

For the SNES, I'd suggest ZSNES. It's my personal favorite, though Dawezy and some other members here would probably tell you to use SNES 9x instead. The interface is different, but it works just as well.

Heh, I still use NESticle. I'm and old-timer stuck in my old ways.

And I'll concur about ZSNES being the emulator of choice. Talk about a good emulator. I'm actually using that to play my CP selection mentioned just moments ago in the Cult.

And as for the ROMs, definitely google them. Also, there is a chance the ROM will be in Japanese still, in which case you can get a patch for the ROM to translate it. Try searching for translations and I'm sure you will come across a site that has 100% translated for you, as well as the program needed to patch the translation onto the original ROM.

ZSnes is the best cuz if u got a good card you can render them to look better grafx then the snes used lol and i love that. i been playin FF VIII on my PSX emu and it looks great.

alright i just got a whole bunch of roms onto my xbox, and on there is all the final fantasies. i have completed all from 4 on because there were rereleased for various systems. my question is which of the first three should i start off with? and i was happy to see just from the title page alone that III is in english, at least most of it appeared. so any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Not really the correct thread for it, but, I believe you should play the Final Fantasies in chronological order from lowest number to highest. Makes for a good challenge to go through the various combat systems introduced along the way. Granted that 4 through 9 is ATB its still good, new characters and spells along each title.
