NES and GBA Versions

Hey, I was hoping some of you could tell me all the differences with the NES version of Final Fantasy I and the GBA Dawn of Souls FFI version. Obviously the graphics and music are enhanced but what are the differences related to dungeons, weapons, bosses, storyline, etc?

Thanks.

Well, improved graphics and such.

There's also a dungeon that is unlocked for every orb you revive, and they contain crossover bosses:

Earthgift Shrine (unlocked when Earth Orb is revived): Contains 5 floors with 4bosses from Final Fantasy III (from the dark world): Ahriman, Echidna, 2 Headed Dragon and Cerberus

Hellfire Chasm (unlocked when Fire Orb is revived): Contains 10 floors with the four fiends of Final Fantasy IV are bosses here: Rubicante, Valvalis, Cagnazzo and Scarmiglione.

Lifespring Grotto (unloicked when Water Orb is revived): Contains 20 floors with 4 bosses from Final Fantasy V: Gilgamesh, Atomos, Omega and Shinryu

Whisperwind Cove (unlocked when Wing Orb is revived): Contains forty floors with 4 bosses from Final Fantasy VI: Thyphon, Ultros, Phantom Train and Death Gaze.

I don't think they changed the storyline or weapons.

I read up on this a bit when I tried to decide which versions to play. There's a good summary of the changes on Wikipedia.

Most people will probably find the GBA versions more enjoyable.

I think the there were new weapons, like Ultima Weapon. If you beat all the Bosses in Earthgift Shrine, Hellfire Chasm, Lifespring Grotto and Whisperwind Cove you get 'em. Also I think the names of the towns have changed (not sure about that).

Most importantly, the GBA version is much easier than the old NES. On the NES version, you could only save in town or if you had a tent or cottage, but on the GBA I think you can save any where (I haven't played through it much yet).

I beat the NES version back in the day, and it could be quite frustrating to make it most of the way through a dungeon and then die without being able to save at all. I did beat the game, but I would never play back through the old version, so the GBA version is a great way to relive the experience without as much frustration.

Another major change from the nes version to the gba version... in the nes version there wasn't mp yet, you only had X amount of spells per X level per day. When you ran out you had to sleep at an inn/cottage/tent to regain those spells back... rather like old school d and d. In the gba version you have mp and ethers so you don't have to sleep to be able to keep casting spells.

The GBA and PSOne versions of Final Fantasy I & II are based on the Wonderswan Color (WSC) versions. The PSOne (or Final Fantasy Origins) versions are superior to the GBA versions, especially for the music. However, the GBA version has additional sidequests.

The GBA version had an option when you start the game to make it much easier (for newbs).
And theres optional bosses like Omega.
The glitch when you make everyone hit an enemy and the first one kills it so then the next three guys will be attacking air is removed.(it's hard to explain in words)
The battles are much faster.
Leveling is much easier.

I think that the GBA version was probably better, square-enix had time to look at what to improve on the nes versions and so they did just that

GBA and PS versions are definately better because they didn't change much at all except for graphics and a few little translations and glitches with IMo only made it better.
