n/a | I hated Final Fantasy I on Dawn of Souls. The bonus dungeons completely sucked in my opinion (especially having to replay them over and over again... grr!) and the game was just entirely too damn easy. You level up without even trying, you get an ungodly amount of magic points for your wizards, and all the new items (such as Pheonix Downs, Ethers, and the new equipment) are just plain overkill. I'd go as far as to say it's the worst version of Final Fantasy I that I have played (and I've played the NES one and the PSX FF Origins version). When it comes to Final Fantasy I, I'm going to stick with FF Origins. Final Fantasy II on Dawn of Souls, on the other hand, is easily the best version of the game yet eventhough it was dumbed down consideribly as well. I would have liked the fixed/faster play mechanics with just a bit more of the original version's difficulty, but I can't really complain a whole lot about it. Unlike the FF I bonus dungeons (which I felt sucked in design and were altogether pointless in terms of story line importance), the Soul of Rebirth extra in this game was fantastic. Extremely addictive, although pain-stakingly hard at first if you didn't know to level-up your characters a bit more in the main story (I didn't know, so when I got to Rebirth my characters were weaksauce ).Overall I had more fun with this version of Final Fantasy II than I did on the NES and PSX (with FF Origins). I'd give FF I DoS a 4/10 when compared to the Origins version of FF I (which I'd give an 8/10 or 9/10) while I'd say FF II DoS deserves a 9/10 for simply being the best playable version of this awesome game so far. I knocked two points of FF II DoS for the fact that the game was a tad too easy, but since Soul of Rebirth can be insanely hard plus rocks my socks, FF II DoS gets an extra point back (so it really just loses one point, hence the 9/10).

2,891 | FF II definitely has a better plot, but FF I requires a bit more strategy. FF II is too easy because you can get to a level 16 weapons skill in under two hours and deal fatal blows to almost all non boss characters when you get a hold of the mythril weapons.

| | ok the new versions are nice visually and what not... however i find it too easy in camparison to the NES version. back then every fight you feared, because you could get killed at any moment. perhaps i am masochistic and enjoy a good old fashion wooping... but also i miss the glitch that allowed you to level ridiculously early in the game. that way there was room for some serious mizing.

| | FFI is difficult as all hell to me. After playing the new age games, it was like culture shock. You can't just take on the first boss, which annoys me kind of. You pretty much get your ass handed to you at first and just....argghhhhh! I don't like the difficulty of FFI...I'm still deciding if I even like that game.

| | Garland opened up a can of whoop-ass on somebody!? O.o Dude, Garland is totally killable at level 2 for some groups and easily defeated at Level 3 for ANY group, barring the insanity that is the Four White Mage group. And Mr. E, you are not alone in the thrill of the challenge. I'm well-known as a fan of the NES version and, quite frankly, I don't even bother with the other versions for any reason. Origins made things n00bified for the younger generation of gamers. Dawn of Souls has taken it beyond n00bification into an unexplored realm of utter simplicity. It is a disgrace to the good name of Final Fantasy! Oh, and I do believe that the glitch you are referring to is also found in at LEAST the Origins version, and I assume it is still in the Dawn of Souls as well. Somebody correct me if I have erred.

**** THAT OLD SHIT, GIVE ME FF20 RIGHT NOW!!! LOL garland is easier to beat then a one legged man in an ass kicking competition LOL gimme some fighters with rapiers and he is finished anyways, FF1 is the best FF game ever, but FF7 was revolutionary I am a fiend for old skool FF games, and nothing can beat having to level up and save money for a silver sword by fighting a ton of ogres, or going down the left hallway in teh earth cave to fight Giants....those little things make it better... Also, Warmech was the creative innovation of having a super enemy which is harder than the last boss...the only thing missing in the game was AI but other than that, FF1 was well before its time.

| | I love FFI alot more than FFII. However there was one thing I found ,that FFII had that FFI, did that made it quite enjoyable at times. FFII rewarded people with Sado-machistic tendencys. I mean you beat the **** out of your guys and their HP will raise over time. You use absorb on them and their magic defense raises. Hell, it is just great.

| | FF2 had a larger story to it that FF1, plus i like the lvl system on ff2 more than the one on ff1... more room for customization, and makes it more fun to replay.

| | MEH! I Just go auto logged out!!! Anyway ......... Firstly The Origins are just the same as the old ones just with new names and a bonus menu, well I think anyway ..... there maybe some difference in levels/hp/mp limits If somebody could confirm this for me..... Secondly I am playing FFI atm and I like how you can choose your party members (I wish you could do this on IV ) The story seems basic but at the time this game was released it was what people wanted in an RPG... No worry about spending hours tryin to move a chocobo just to win a crappy sword.Final fantasy II was boring and tedious at times, I spent ages trying to get Ultimas level to 16 and it was absolute crap! > If I had of known how to cheat earlier in the game I would of had much more fun! Overrall I think they were done quite well for people who never got a chance to play them (like me!) and I cant wait till III comes out!

| Blue of Blue | I liked the remakes. I never played the originals but I have Dawn of Souls now and I think it's excellent. I've heard it's easier than the originals, and it probably is. So in the end, it's a good buy, I mean it's the first two FF's in one, so I think it's great. | ||||||||
