Ok in this game there are four main characters, and several that are temporary throughout the game. For those who have played this game, I would like to know who you think is the most useful of the temp's and why. To me I found Gordon to be the most useful. Everyone was useful for the most part, except Gareth. He was the coolest yet I just thought he was so much weaker than the others. When I got him his mastery levels were all consistent, yet nothing was outstanding. Josef and Leila come in at close runner's up, as I found them fairly easy to beef up. However Gordon with his spear attacks, and the fact that I gave him no magic, made him quite tough over time. Plus, you get him a couple of times in your journey so his stat's just kept going for me. For FF II people, who is your favorite temp character, and why did you make that selection?

n/a | I never played it on the PSX, just the ROM, so I have no idea what half those characters are. But I liked Lionheart the best. (The guy at the very first battle) You have to love him, hes just the coolest looking on the ROM, & He helps you at the very end of the game, so you like, have to love him lol ![]()

| | Leila was such a lifesaver at times. She could be really quite strong. Go her!

n/a | I chose Gareth, he was the one who helped me out more than anone, Yet leila was equally matched, but i like dragoons, although he did not have the jump command like he should have had, But why anyone chose gordon i dont know he did absolutely nothing for me. He would always miss, he was simply useless. Did you guys ever have luck?

I like Gareth and I like Dragoons, obviously since FFIV is my fav FF and it featured the best Dragoon of all time Kain. But you get Gareth too late in the game for him to be totally effective. Yeah he has good weapon skills and whatnot, but his HP is so extremely low that he gets killed too often. I just didn't find him as effective as I did Gordon, that's all.

I agree the Mindu is the best only because I've never played the game any further than just having him join the party. Gordon seems a little whiny, and that's basically all I've encountered. But I have to say that Mindu's magic comes in quite handy when you're just starting out...especially for someone only beginning to play the game. Edit (12/29/04): Ok, I'm just before the point when you enter the Jade Passage and I'm sticking with Mindu. Yes, all the characters are fun and can kick teeth when you need them too, but I'm still sticking with Mindu just because he not only heals/teleports/blinks/protects/revives and arrives with a S-load of awesome spells, but he can really dish out the damage and opens the seal so that my lovely Maria can learn the Ultima Spell. When I beat FFII, I'm looking forward to playing Mindu in the Soul of Rebirth mission. Last edited by cookiemonbc; 12-29-2004 at 01:42 PM. Reason: Got further in the game

| | heh, make that 3 for mindu. I was so hoping that he was a full time char, before I got dissapointed knowing he wasn't that is lol. The white Magic was such a big help, saved my life many times. Not to mention that he was a decent fighter when he needed to be.

2,891 | All the temporary characters suck in comparison to the proprietary characters cuz by the time you get a quarter way through the game, they willl be at level 16 with at least one weapons skill (assuming you know the quick weapon skill up trick). | | I agree with anybody who says that Mindu is the best supporting character. He comes in when everybody else in your party is a little weakling. With his healthy choice of spells and hp he really is good for just about any situation you can find yourself in at that point int he game. Compared to the other supporting characters, none help you even out the odds the way he does.
