My new FF website

After several days of fustration and toil, my first FF-related website is up! The url is below. Rate it on attractiveness, easiness to move around, and stuff like that.

Hmm... advertisement is against the rules, so we're going to pretend you're posting this only because you want a critique on the design and layout of your site, and not any commentary on the content or anything like that. Which is more or less what you already stated, but I'm just reiterating it for my own sake.

...that said, what the heck am I supposed to comment on? I don't see how it could have taken you several days to put together two tables. It's a five minute project, at most. I don't mean any offense by it, but there isn't much to critique. I mean, I know I'm the last to talk, as my own site is hardly skin and bones, but I personally feel you should have given us a little bit more to see before asking for some C&C.

So, what do I have to say? Well, it's very plain. Very white. Simple and clean cut, which is great if that's the look you're eventually going for. I'd suggest some clearer images for your navigation table on the left, and until you have some content, I can't really make any suggestions about organizing it.

For now, I voted that I can't decide whether I like it or not.

Yes well, I've got some content on it now... Yeah, the attractiveness needs a heck lota work. That's what I'm working on. This is more or less the beta version. And well, when you're 11, this is way harder than for you.

Nah. Age doesn't have much to do with it. Though, knowing this, it means you're learning, which is good. I'm guessing this is your first attempt at a website? If so, you've got a solid frame setup, which is a decent basis for any basic website. I really didn't mean to insult you, and if I did, I apologize.

So, where do you plan on pulling your content from? I've noticed it looks like you're relying mostly upon submissions from guests. I don't know how well that'll work out for you. You may wish to start with some of the bulkier stuff, like game info and such, in order to give people something to see before they submit their stuff.

Well, every FF site has that kind of stuff. I want to be unique. Just a site devoted to the many great arts of FF... It might help if I could get link partners though... Nah, you didn't insult me, I've heard *way* worse. If I could only get a way to get people to submit their stuff... I'll be posting stuff like "On the Way to a Smile" anyways, so... what do you think of my organization designs? I finally got through putting in <p> and </p> commands and got it up. Yahoo. Now for the 3 other ones...

Well, I understand what you're saying, wanting just fanart and such, considering it really fits the name of your page. I'm just not sure how you're going to rake it all in without spamming some advertisements. Perhaps you could start small, like with some friends and this thread (because you shouldn't advertise beyond this, heh), and see what sorts of submissions you can bring in. As the word gets out, it'll likely grow.

If by "organization designs," you mean those navigation buttons in the left frame, those are what I was referring to in that first post where I said you needed clearer images. If they could be as clear as, say, your banner, they'd look just fine. The design of the buttons certainly isn't an issue, but they're very grainy and look somewhat slapped together as though no effort went into it.

Start with crisper graphics, and it'll give your page a much-needed facelift.

EDIT: Alright, got new buttons. Still need critisism, reviews, and site material, guys...

EDIT TWO: Added a bookmark icon. Something I noticed TFF doesn't have...

EDIT THREE: Why isn't anyone commenting? Oh well. If you have been checking the site recently, you'll notice that the movie section is gone. I did this because of various reasons. You'll also notice that all 4 parts of "On a Way to a Smile" are uploaded. And I, ShinRa, have uploaded my very own art into the art section. Wahoo! Give me more content people. Haha, you have to remember to breathe once in a while. This isn't the most active of places. Still, I'll pretend that double post isn't there. I usually frown upon it unless it's been a decent four or five days, heh. ^_^;;


Good job putting up a favicon on your site. I did the same with mine just yesterday. TFF did have one at some point, if I remember correctly. In any case, it looks good; quite fitting regarding the site. I'm quite pleased to see you changed your buttons. Even though they're still a little rough around the edges, it's a vast improvement over what you had before.

As for the layout, I'm not quite sure how I feel about the photobucket account filling the right frame when viewing your art. I suppose it works for now, but you may wish to begin hosting your artwork on your own webspace, for the sake of continuity.

Well, my account is free, so I have *very* limited space. I desided it would be best for the site if I hosted them on PB. But anyway, I'm looking for free hosting on a few major FF websites. So far I haven't found any. >.< When I get hosting, I'll change the code around so it doesn't do that. But for the time being...

EDIT: Added a few images to the pages, namely Chocobo and Moogle, which will be my trademarks, and a legal page.

EDIT TWO: Added a few pages; a guestbook page, a guestbook signing page, and a FAQ.

*Bumps* If all goes well, I'll have a forum running soon. Not some "Sign up and get a free forum!" thing. A real uploaded on another site (ffworksforums) and with me as the admin.
