Eh, no one has posted here in awhile.

Has anyone been watching the Olympics? I have been watching it as much as possible. For some reason I have been really interested in it this year. It is nice to see Australia do well and see anyone acheive their dreams.

Eh, this is a bad time of year for school. There is so much to do. I am not going to get the OP I want and I really don't care. But I hope you are all doing better at school then I am =]

I've been watching the Olympics. And yeah, for some reason I've been quite interested in it this year. Maybe it's because I'm 16 this time rather than 12. I've quite enjoyed the athletics, volleyball and (don't laugh. I really like the following. XD) gymnastics. I think the stuff they do is amazing. The flips and twists and tumbles make me go O_O. I think we're coming 5th at the moment?

I'm doing good at school. I'm over it though. I barely do any work anymore, doing it all in my free periods. As a result my grades have slipped a little. I've been beaten in most tests lately, to the rest of the grade's delight. But meh. My disinterest is so great I no longer care. School has become a real chore lately. I used to enjoy the social side of it, but even that has lost its appeal now. Most of the people left are ones I don't like all too much because they don't like me. -_-; Oh well. What do you do?

Yeah, my favourite thing to watch is the gymastics. They are all so talented and its amazing to see how they flip.

Yeah I am well over school. Twelve years is too many. I have 4 big assignments tomorrow to do for monday.. I can't do my math and if I fail it I fail for the year and won't get my senior certificate. Scary.

I am texting this off my phone. Oh the joy of a hip top. XD

The Olympics was fun to watch. I was watching it occasionally on television when I was vacationing in America, so it was cool to see it from that perspective. Of course, said perspective just made me hate Michael Phelps immensely, and realised how damn biased their commentators were. It was like no one was in the Olympics BUT America (and China).

(Sally McClellan, who got silver in hurdles I do believe?, went to my school. She was a nice girl.)

Priscilla asked what I did at Seaworld! Sorry it took me forever to reply. I was a Food & Beverage Attendant there, so I got to be one of those awesome people who wears one of the drums strapped to their chest, selling ice-creams and the like at the shows, as well as running various carts/stalls around the park. It was good times, I miss it!

To continue on with the school topic, I dropped out this year (yep, in my final year too). I hated it.

You dropped out in your final year? But that would of made the last 11 pointless? Sometimes I feel like dropping out but I only have two months to go and I need Year 12 to go to Uni. Bah, Uni.

That kind of job sounds fun. You would get to meet a lot of cool people I think. I always liked going to Seaworld when I was little. Well I liked all of the theme parks. I miss being little, everything was so exciting. xD

I really want to visit American sometime. =]

I'm not so sure that the last eleven years were entirely pointless. It was a learning experience, in more ways than one. I mean, I didn't get the little certificate at the end telling me I graduated, but my education was near complete, and I also made a fair few contacts in regards to traineeships, work experience, jobs and whatnot. For example, when I did work experience, I did a week at the ACIT (Australian College of Integrated Therapies - Untitled Document). It works kinda like TAFE, in that you study and work towards getting a certificate after a certain amount of time. They really liked me there, so heading back is a possibility. And that's only one possibility.

In the end though, I feel like I made the right decision. Some people will disagree, saying I've ruined my life, but I digress. There's still a LOT of options out there for me.

What do you want to do at Uni, Priscilla?

PS. In other news, I roadtripped it to NSW on the weekend. Was a massive bitch, 'cause we couldn't even start the trip down there until 1.30AM as one of our number didn't finish work until midnight. We were all fairly tired and grumpy that day. Went out in Penrith, then back to our friends' place in Parramatta. Good times!

Not pointless. If someone seriously thinks those years of education are the be all and end all, they've not done their research. Those main years of education can't get you very far alone in terms of getting a job, and some industries it really does pay to get into earlier, especially if you plan on sticking with it for a while.

I decided to finish grade 12 to keep as many options on the table as possible, but in the end I decided to go the security industry path. The pay's just too good and there's too many opportunities to pass up.

I'd say the only real way to screw up your potential prospects is to get involved with crime and the like. A lot of places will give you an almost automatic 'I'm sorry, you're not what we're looking for' or similar upon noticing any blemishes that show up in terms of your recorded behaviour.

Well, I want to go to University and do a dual degree. Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Japanese. So I can teach English in Japan. But to do that I need to finish year 12. I just feel that it's always good to have all the options avaliable to you incase you ever change your mind.

But if you don't even need Year 12 then there really is no point being there so you do have a point =]

Everything I've ever considered as a career has involved me going to uni so consequently I'm going to need to finish Year 12. Final exams are coming up in less than 10 weeks meaning everyone is beginning their freak out phase. Let's see if I can remain calm.

And really now days, getting into uni is as easy as completeing a Cert. IV at TAFE. You can use that to get into a lot of related courses. Or do a mature aged entry test and get into close to anything. Excluding science related stuff. Things like Commerce, Economics or Social Sciences are easier to get into than TAFE with a Certificate though.

On an unrelated topic, there's an election coming up here in WA. What are your thoughts on compulsory voting? I personally agree with it. If you look at places where it isn't compulsory, only a fraction of the population bothers to vote which means socio-economic classes are not fully represented (as it tends to be those higher on the scale who vote) and neither are various cultures, age groups and other groupings. I can understand why people would choose not to vote if they disagreed with all the candidates or whatever, but not wanting to vote because they force you is just silly. You should be thankful you are allowed to partake in your country's politics. If you hate it so much, cast a null vote!

I personally think compulsory voting is complete and utter bullshit. Sometimes every person you can vote for seems crap so you don't want to bother yet are forced to. And I know from when I was voting, there was no 'null vote'. It was take it seriously or donkey vote. I think I ended up voting for the Shooter's party or something. Nobody cares for their wonderful recreational driving laws or nothing...

But yeah, they seemed the lesser of several evils and I knew pretty much no-one else would vote for them.

If I hate it so much, shouldn't I have the choice to stay home and not be forced to get a lift and wait in line at some random place of someone else's choosing?

Rocco, I agree with you. Everything I have ever wanted to do also requires me to finish Grade 12. Not that it bothers me because I only have one more term to go. My main exams of the year start tomorrow.. but it doesn't really worry me ><.

I think voting should be compulsory otherwise not everyone will be heard of have a say. It is definitely the way to go, in my opinion.

Fair enough, but what of the donkey votes?
Thousands of people who don't give a damn just number the boxes 1-whatever or if only ticking a single preference, the top one. If anything forcing those who don't want to vote to vote is just sending votes to some person who they wouldn't care to have in anyways.
