Ah, my presence here suffers something severe. I lurk around, but never really seem to have anything mecha related to talk about due to being kept busy and not having a photographic memory of everything mecha (some people really amaze me like that).

Think of the basic atmosphere of the RP to be "Battlestar Galactica". There will be pilots and the such, but the plot will be much more in depth than battle after battle.

3) About the mechs, Mobile Suits are overused. I do consider that calling them using the fan-determinations (Real Robots for Gundam-like mecha, Super Robots for Mazinger and Getter Robo mecha types, Transforming Robots for those who can have variable forms) should be the standard, but I really like the names given in Zone of the Enders (LEVs and Orbital Frames)

As for the mechs, get ideas from all, but not place all of their mechs. For example, being Gundam one of the most known series of mecha, you can support having at least GMs, and perhaps early-model Gundams (perhaps even Guncannons!! But please, no Guntanks...) My rule of thumb should be taking from the Banpresto Originals and from Gundam, trying to form a story around them, and then placing other mechs as "experimentals". Anything too powerful should be scrapped (Ideon, GaoGaiGar, EVAs, Serpentera, Shin Dragon, Masou Kishin, and the like), keeping mostly real robots.

For factions, keep in mind that our crew should have at least 2 or 3 experimental mecha (AKA the mecha that are worthy anyways) on beginning, and stock, mass-produced mecha for the rest. The other factions are free to have as many models or experimentals as they like, so as long as they settle for one particular model (to represent the faith in the superior technology of the faction scientists). So, feel free to mix and match, as much as you want, but keeping the factions happy with a few models only.

If you need some more info on Banpresto Originals, you might want to see the next links. I'll add some of the stock Originals' links, to make the "stock" mecha selection easier.

Gespenst; Real Robots, well balanced in all aspects
Huckebein (pronounced Hyuck-eh-bain); Real Robot, similar in aspect and at times mobility to Gundam
Lion; Real Robot, normally an enemy mech, and severely mass produced (also very cheap)
Guarlion; Real Robot, essentially a modded Lion.

Great feedback T.G. That is exactly what I'm looking for. I like a lot of your ideas and probably will me implementing them in some form.

What to call the mechs without using already used terms and names. Hmm... I have a few, so I'll list my ideas, feel free to add to the list:

Humanoid
SPF - Solar Powered Frame
Exo Frame

Non-Humanoid
SPA - Solar Powered Armor
Armored Gear

As for which faction will have what type of mech, I will use Gundam SEED & SEED Destiny universe mechs as an example. Note: These are not what they will only have, I'm just using them as an example because all I am into is Gundam:

The Union (General:: Federation-based MS)
Experimental: Strike Gundam, Buster Gundam, Blitz Gundam, Aegis Gundam
Stock: Dagger L, Windam
Mass Production: Strike Dagger

The CIS (General:: Mobile Armors & Transformable MS)
Experimental: Exus, Zamza-Zah, Saviour Gundam, Destroy Gundam
Stock: Gells-Ghe
Mass Production: Euclid

The British Empire (Lots of Mass-Produced, MS and maybe MA)
Experimental: Legend Gundam, Providence Gundam
Stock: ZAKU Phantom, ZAKU Warrior
Mass Production: GuAIZ, ASH, GOOhN, GOUF

The Nutrality of Japan (Well-Rounded Stock MS, MA)
Experimental: Akatsuki
Stock: DOM Trooper, Murasame

Of course there are tons of other mechs to choose from.

Those must be more related to Gundam Seed Destiny, but I've never heard of the Neutrality of Japan reference anywhere in the series. There was just ZAHF and the Federation or whatever they were called. Its been so long since I've seen Seed. And there was the independent group that I also can't remember. I thought that Destiny kept most of the same national players, but I guess that changed. All I know about is the mobile suits.

Giant Robots have so many different names, Arm Slaves from Full Metal Panic, Gears from Xenogears, A.W.G.S from Xenosaga, and whatever else that they call them. I sort of liked the idea of calling them Gears, but if you are going with something original make up something. Everything I would should be original and not cloned or stolen from some other series. When I made my Gundam RP we had original Gundams, but kept the tradition of having a well balance suit and the yellow "V". You can make up new things that fit into the universe that you are creating.

I like your eagerness, D.B. but you are jumping way too far ahead. I already have a character profile sheet almost completed and that would be that for the RP. It is 100% guarenteed that the RP OOC thread will be up tomorrow. Sorry for the wait.

P.S. There will be no "Mercenaries" in the RP, unless they are NPC's. Every starting character will be crewmembers for the ship the RP will be following. Think of it as the international space station, people from all four factions will be on board the ship. I think I'll eventually allow people to have two characters, something that opposses the main ship.

Also, Club Members who choose to be pilots automatically get Ace Pilot status and will have access to stronger mechs. Anyone else who joins will be considered noobs or regular pilots. That's just one of the quirks to the Club. If you do not understand, I'll explain tomorrow in the OOC thread.

Also, the Nutrality of Japan is one of the factions in the RP. It is similar to ORB. I was using the SEED and SEED Destiny mechs as an example for which faction will have what.

Hmm, I got an Idea.

I can use Armored Core 4 to make Custom Mechs that look similar to Mobile Suits.
Can't make Mobile Armors, but I can make a Custom Mech for each RPer.

Not much time to explain right now.. But just give me the details for what you want and I'll make it and post pics.

I never thought of that D.B. I'll definately be hitting you up on that offer. I already have an AC that is pretty formidable. Because AC offers different legged-mechs (biped, reverse-joint, tank, and hover) a sort of "Mobile Armor" could be made. PM me with an example of what you can do, D.B.

Also, the RP OOC will be up later on in the day. Keep an eye out!

I also agree, but to a point. It seems like a great idea to translate the ideas of each RPer into a more unified system, but there's a little problem to that idea.

See, Armored Core works very well with the so-called Real Robots (to which virtually all the models of Gundam save the G-Gundam Mobile Suits belong), but it presents a dash of trouble with Super Robot types. What if an RPer wants to use a Mobile Armor with, say, Rocket Punch, a standard of many Super-Robots? Or Chest Beams or that kind of weird, and fixed, armament typical of many Super Robots? Not to mention, those mecha that have from above-average to superior movement, and their pilots prefer typical swordsmanship and/or martial arts than weaponry? While I don't know how Evangel's gonna fix that, it would be prudent to find a solution to this particular problem, in case anyone wants to pilot something besides a Gundam or a real robot type.

Most of those kind of weapons are hidden within the mech. Unseen and compact. Can't make any and all weapons, but the mechs are quite customizable on AC4. Much more then AC3 and before. You can even balance it with stabilizers.


It's for the RP anyway, so function doesn't matter much. How it looks is all that matters.

The only things I can't up on the Custom Mech Designs are shields, normal swords, shoulder bazookas, elaborate wings, extra appendages, and fighter mobile armors (ie:Mobius Zero).


I can make mobile fortresses with the Chromehounds game for the 360.
These don't look like normal human framed mobile weapons, more like tanks and fortresses. Heavy tanks, Bipeds, Reverse Joints, Wheeled units, and 4 legged walkers.
Includes heavy cannons, missiles, and command units. Non flying units

I'll post pics tomorrow.

*PHEW* Finally got the OOC up, I got sidetracked yesterday so I couldn't post it. All I have to add is the character template section. If you want to do your own template and switch it up when I put my own, be my guest.

I simply don't care. You will not be a mercenary at any point. The first batch of RP members will be part of the crew of the Nightingale. My word is final.

Mercenaries will show up at some point as NPC's and will be controlled by me. But not any time soon.

I still don't know if I am going to partake in the RP. Though I figured if I were to do it I probably would be an eccentric scientist/inventor of sorts. A sidelines character that provides the comedy in an otherwise too serious and dramatic teen angst story. Its light work and will probably keep things fresh for me. Well we'll see what happens first.

Anyway, Code Geass is going to be starting up next week on Adult Swim. So we are finally getting a new mecha show on TV since Eureka Seven finished it run. Though last I checked Code Geass was still running in Japan I thought. They were in a second season or something like that. But I can't wait for that to start up. I haven't seen something from CLAMP in a while so I'm excited.

I don't mind, Andromeda, I know you have a lot to do, abd I didn't expect you partaking in the RP very much. A comedic character would be a nice touch.

I'm kinda looking forward to Code Geass. I serached it and tried to learn more about it and it is pretty interesting. I don't think ANYTHING could replace Eureka Seven though, mayber if Gundam OO was brought to the U.S. on Adult Swim.

Also, I am going to add some resource images for the RP to the OOC.

NEW! Updated the OOC with character bio and resource info.
