It while it is not said outright I don't think it was simply the power of the Twin Buster Rifle that ripped apart Zero. I don't doubt that it is powerful and has a lot of recoil to the firing of such a weapon. But there are other factors involved when Heero was using it. He had finished a fight with Shinlong Wufei's Gundam, which is probably the best for close ranged combat. He fell to the bottom of the sea on purpose after making re-entry. Then after that he is getting hailed by weapons fire from the new constellation mobile suits and not returning fire or avoiding it. That and probably firing a massive weapon in the atmosphere and gravity of Earth were all factors against Zero at the time. And if I recall correctly the Twin Buster Rifle ended up destroying itself on the third firing after just about all but the torso was left of Zero. The weapon was built strongly, so firing it repeatedly is not enough to have it blow up. The display of Zero's power by Quatre in the series as well as Heero and Zicks is enough to know that the Twin Buster Rifle can be firing multiple times without so much as even flinching.

The Union and AEU mobile suits in Gundam 00 actually remind me of the suits in Xenosaga. They have a very similar feel to them if you look at them next to each other. I can't speak about all of the mobiles since I haven't seen the anime, but the mecha designs I've seen in my Newtype point to them being similar to the Xenosaga.

Ah, I think it's time to breath life back into the club. I currently have an idea for an RP, here's what I have so far...

The RP follows the crew of a ship (land carrier, spaceship, underwater carrier submarine) as they encounter different enemies outside and in. It can be based in any mecha related anime, universe, or a new one altogether.

Long time since I have posted here, it seems. Yeah, seems that there's not much to say about mechas, so a RP based on a crew from a ship would be interesting, although it must have ability to deploy mechas (and pilots, too) for it to be interesting.

As always, I root for a story based upon Super Robot Wars, although I feel a bit like mixing and matching some stuff, so I would recommend a mix between SRW, Planetes, and Star Trek. From SRW I base the ship and most of the organizational hierarchy, from Planetes the background story, and from Star Trek the essential purpose.

As per the proposal, I would suggest something like this: the Earth Federation has decided to finally grant funds to advance Project Terrestrial Dream, a project based upon the exploration of space and the expansion of Earth's frontiers. For that, the EF has developed a special Space-Noah class carrier, originally a battleship, but outfitted with the necessary elements to survive very long periods of travel in space (most notably after the events in the game, where via reverse engineering life support and travel technology has greatly expanded).

A lack of able astronauts has forced, however, the Earth Federation to take personnel from the Space Hygiene division (yeah, a corny name, but what gives) to develop an able crew to manage the colossal spaceship. After the events of alien invasion, however, Project TD has taken measures to adapt any exploration spaceship with ample firepower, and has resolved in modifying the designs of a battleship in order to deal with any menace.

This may work as a back story for the RP. As for the crew, the ship would need to have the following:

A Captain,
a Vice-Captain
an Operator (which monitors the condition of the ship at all times, and is hierarchically superior to anyone except the Captain, the Vice-Captain, and any military superior officers),
maintenance crew, doctors and nurses, a group of scientists,
the occasional pilots for the mechas serving as patrol and defense.

If the RP is to happen, it would be well-advised to choose from the formerly mentioned, although having a Captain, a Vice-Captain, and an Operator is imperative. The rest can be waived as NPCs.

Stats-wise, the ship is capable of air, space, and submarine travel. It has lesser armor and shields than the battlefield versions, but compensates with technology that allows a capability of faster travel (perhaps complete with a lightspeed-enabling set of turbines and stuff).

Since the RP would develop in an universe where all mecha series are present, regardless of how the story develops, it may serve for certain cameo appearances of known characters, although they aren't important to the story (fan service, or perhaps enabling certain technology and/or units to be used)

Please take the idea under consideration. While it is a simple proposal, it is not the only proposal, and perhaps the other members may desire a different kind of RP.

I really like your approach on this, Oskar.

I was opting for a more "Battlestar Galactica"(the new version)-esque RP in terms of drama. Battlestar has the most drama I have seen in a SciFi genre show, and I like that aspect of the show.

As for a general plotline, I was hoping for more of a "Hunt for Red October" whereas our ship has been in the service of the Earth Federation for decades. It has seen numerous captains and crewmembers. A recent retro-fitting has caused concerned amoung the current crew and a specific set of orders from the Earth Federation have caused the ship to defect.

Or something like that. Perhaps if more of the members input their opinions and ideas, we can mesh them toghether. I also plan to make this a public RP to attract more members, if that's ok?

Hmmm, I can consider adding the drama of Battlestar Galactica. I've also seen it. It would be interesting if you consider the three-party approach: a group who's loyal to the mission commended by the EF and follow Project TD, another group that's fed up with the years of service, and...well, the common alien menace, which constantly has to put both groups together.

In that case, the time would have to be stretched a little bit (say, 20 years), and the ship may have to be bigger, considering that in 20 years there might be development of relationships (unless you consider the factor of humanity's impossibility of procreation in space, which would dwindle the ranks). The plot of defection can be considered, but if we are to follow that line, to whom it would defect? To itself, or to the alien menace that essentially keeps plotting against them? There's also the idea that the seed of defection may have already been planted (the game constantly suggests the idea of two large groups disputing the general power on Earth: the Earth Federation and the Divine Crusaders). In that case, the defecting group may declare a third incarnation of the DC, and those who may remain loyal to the EF may be trying to re-take command of the ship (which, oddly, is not that armed)

But yeah, I often do not continue unless I have more feedback, because if not, I would probably have too much involvement in a group plan.

I say more on the lines of well meaning fed up pacifists who may not have been drafted voluntarily. I'm thinking people who had to take tests to determine their best suited career and weren't exactly happy in the first place (ala Futurama). Meritocracy at it's worst.

Maybe it would be like non-clone Stormtroopers who had figured they were doing good until they get isolated from propaganda and desert.

Okay, instead of the religious counter group (which is overdone IMHO)...

The government gets it's soldiers through merit tests (like the ASVAB tests that high school students in America take today) and it doesn't matter if the person who tested high for a thing wants to do it or not-they ~have~ to.

For example: I took that ASVAB test and tested in the 99 percentile (top of my class) of all girls in my grade around the country in electronics. Are my interests there? Barely. Would I enjoy being a mechanic on a ship? Maybe after a while, but probably not.

So take these people who have talents they didn't want to use and put them on a ship for twenty years and those that really don't like their jobs or had a pacifist bent in the first place and give them an order they really don't like and see how many revolt.

Anyways my posts have been lacking as I've been job hunting of late, and doing so online while I'm also on TFF. That and I haven't watched any mecha based anime recently, and the only game I've played lately involving them is Steambot Chronicles.

It's one of those games I love that most seem to dislike or just plain hate...
But you get to make your (generally bipedal) Bumpytrot Mecha and then go about outfitting it with trade parts and weaponry. Only thing I dislike about the game are the loading screens. But they're a small price to pay for me.
Anyone else have fun with it?

In a feeble attempt to fully revive the Club, I shall post what I have for a rough outline for the club RP

It is christmas of 2099 A.D. In just a few days from New Years and the largest movement into space as the first orbital colony has been completed. More than 50,000 colonists will board a special spaceship to transit them to the colony known as Eden 1. Several frigate and warships will accompany the transport for its safe passage to the colony. One such warship is the USS Nightingale, a newly constructed ship designed for this exact purpose.

That is what I have so far. Most mecha shows already have the colonies in place. I thought: "What happened when the first colony was constructed?" Of course, this isn't the exact RP, there is still more to add.

Here's some more:

Factions
The WHU, Western Hemisophere Union, or just Union- Formed in 2080, the WHU is comprised of North, Central, and South America, and the dozens of islands that sprinkle the Western Hemisphere. It is currently the strongest faction in MS(or whatever we agree on) production. It also headed by a President in Washington D.C. as was the United States of America.

The C.I.S., Commonwealth of Independant States- Currently the oldest running faction in the world, the CIS is comprised of Russia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and all of south east Asia. The C.I.S. is the leading faction in MA (see above for MS) production.

The Brittania Empirium, The British Empire- Formed from the remaining countries in Western Europe including Britain, Ireland, Scottland, Spain, and Italy (among others). The Empirium is the lead holder of money and resources in the world.

The Nutrality of Japan- Formed of just the small nation of Japan, Japan has declared it's total nutrality from the world and is in the lead for most advanced technology in the world. It's capital, Tokyo, is the new location for the United Nations. Japan is also the only country in the world to have a Mass Driver.

Actively play Chromehounds on the 360 as a battle commander.


Tactical leader in all mech games. Including sniping, close combat, melee, heavy weapons, long range volleys, and quick identification of enemy and allied mechs (IFF).


I'm not as big into RPing as everyone else, but I play a lot of Mech games and several are online.

I was wondering if anyone wanted to fight each other or as a team, cleaning the crap out of the higher teams online.
