| Genocide Unfolds, I Forgive All | He was jealous of a polar bear? What, did the polar bear have a huge dick or something? This is just another example of how petty some people can be. Go polar bear, eat that guys' face or something. EDIT: Heather; it's so like Europe to declare their boredom at trying to help it's own banks by sorting SOMETHING, ANYTHING out. I just imagine high up political Europeans yawning in their cute little leather upholstered chairs, asking for cups of coffee and looking at important looking documents and seeing something totally different. "BANKS ARE GOING BUST. GET OFF YOUR ASSES" just means "WE'RE OUT OF COFFEE, REMIND LOWER CLASS SLAVES TO GET SOME MOAR." This is a stupid post, go me!

1,544 | I wish I could write like that in my essays, Chez. But I'd get shouted at . They had to try to find a way to help without contravening the Maastricht Treaty (FUN FACT: if America were in the EU, they'd have been flung out months ago for going against the economic regulations held in that same Treaty). In their defence, that wouldn't be easy, but they should have done something. They've been annoying me lately, especially Sarkozy. Over the past few weeks they've been muttering smug little things about America's economy. One German periodical ran with a picture of the Statue of Liberty, flame extinguished, and the headline 'The Price of Arrogance' or similar, as their front page. Spanish financial ministers muttering about how much better they are for having things like Maastricht to avoid such situations. Assholes. All this while B&B, HypoReal and others go down the tubes. Like they're going to abandon free market policy. Twats. /end EuroRant. Chez, the attempt on Knut's life was a serious matter! Have you ever seen the little guy? Here: Berlin's finest resident since Bowie hung out there in the 80's. How could you want that dead? Seriously, how ****ed up do you have to be? I repeat my demand for the assassin's trial to be held in the Hague. Before or after Karadzic, you choose. Man.

| Ginger | Ahh the Credit Crunch. Lacksadasical economics leads to bust. Wow... who knew. Who couldn't have possibly seen that for a start lending to those who can't pay it back is a bad idea... but not only that it tends to lead to the lender losing money. What a unique concept. I have aboslutely no sympathy for the banking system though, they employ people to forecast this type of occurence, and well they've been making gargantuan profits of the back of the public for centuries. My only irritance is that we all have to suffer as a result of their negligence. America in particular. I'm very opinionated here but well they screwed it up and we're all going to suffer as a result. However the EU is being just as negligent in sorting this whole mess out. I may sound like a typical Sun-reader but well we need to sort our own house before we end up bailing the others out. And as for America not wanting to contravene Maastricht... well. I don't think they should have the authority to, it's a treaty that is signed by many soverign nations... EUROPEAN nations. Showing favouritism won't help, and will only serve to help American interests in the long-term when economic debt needs to be repaid. They got into this mess, they should be sorting it out. My patience is wearing very thin with Wall Street, it's like they say in a crisis like this, the richer get richer whilst the poorer become destitute. And poor Knut. I'm still yet to read about it but I'm sure I'll get around to.

1,544 | America have no authority over Masstricht whatsoever, Martin. I just read somewhere that, if they were in the EU, their subprime behaviour would have contravened the Treaty and resulted in them being flung out. Sorry for being confusing. The Germans are muttering again about saving HypoReal. Maybe it's past the point of all return now. The FTSE opened today with huge losses, everyone's nervous, and who can blame them? I'm starting to think that no bailouts will work. They'll just go back into the same places, and the cycle will repeat. The heads of the defunct Lehman Brothers in America made like $2 million from the liquidation of the company. It's depressing to think that people should be so greedy. They're getting a kind of comeuppance now, but it's going to affect us too.
