Are You Ready for 2008?

Hey all, New Years and 2008 is just around the corner! I still can't believe the year is almost over already, feels like it just began yesterday...ok last week...lol. As 2007 draws to a close I reflect on how the year has been for me, kinda mixed feelings about it since so much happened this year. But I'm defintely looking forward to 2008! Another new year full of new adventures, new challenges, renewed loves, new meetings and partings, new surroundings etc. Yeah, 2007 was okay but the throught of a new year brings me renewed hopes, and more memories and friends to make. So tell me...are you ready for 2008?

I'm definitely ready for 08!!!! Like you had said Phantom, new year, new experiences, things like that...

Looking back at 07, I had an interesting year. I had many ups, many downs, but another year and I'm ready to just keep moving forward with my life and not looking back.

I plan to get a job soon. That's one of my New Year's resolutions. >.>

Another one of mine would to go Sky-diving. I've always been wanting to do that since like forever and I hope I can do that sometime next year maybe...or bungee jump at least. Either one, I'll die a happy man, or a horrible death if I hit the ground.

But yeah, I'm pretty much stoked for the new year.

Looking back at '07...Jesus H Christ that went by fast.

This was a good year, a little slow in places, but that was made up by the insane speed of the rest of the year.

And you bet I'm ready for '08 :3

I'm always ready for a new year, not like I need to hold on to anything this year..because it's all coming with me.

I feel the only thing I need to be ready for as the year count increments is the untimely end of my 2007 calendar. Seeing as I have not a calendar for next year, I'm screwed as far as keeping track of the date is concerned.

Seriously, I feel there's nothing to prepare for just because the date moves on some-what. I've just as much to be ready for as the calendar year changes as I have to be as any typical date change approaches. At the end of the day, it's just numbers. Nothing, for me, changes.

It's when the academic year changes that things in my life change. That is, when my 4th university year starts and I'm one academic year older, loads of my friends will have left to find jobs, but new people will arrive at the university who I then befriend. I will be living in a different house in my university town and be studying different modules to those I am currently studying. My life style will probably change somehow due to all this. This is all in september, and this is the kind of date change I feel I need to prepare for.

2008 is welcome, of course. But it can let itself in. I'll just be sat down with my pipe and slippers, going about my own business.

I really don't know.

I may not even be around long enough to see 2008, so it's in between for me. 2006 was a terrible year for me and I was happy to see the back for it. 2007 was better, but right now, my health is really jolty.
If I'm around to see 2008, I want it to be a good year, I want to feel better and be able to do more things. I don't know what's going to happen... Mostly, each year drags on, and then by the end of it, you look back and wonder where it all went.

It's a little depressing to think about, really.

But bring on 2008, I suppose. Hopefully, it'll be a good year.

I guess it's all symbolic though. Beginning over, again. I could use it as uh...leverage? Honestly, I don't feel much every year the number changes. It's just that, a number. Like my age.

I always love New Years. Mostly because my latent fears jump up in January, and then I spend the whole year convinced that humanity will not be able to sustain itself for another whole year. But I think we'll just about get there this year (I would still be doubting this if you'd asked about a month ago).

Bugger it, may as well be honest. New years for me just mean fear, usually. I worry about what could go wrong. At least, I used to. I swore we wouldn't see 2008. I don't know why. My brain's a twat like that.

But it's not really so this year. My mind is on the best behaviour its been on in years. Wow, that was a well-made sentence.

Anyway. Since home became a refuge instead of a prison, I've got cheerier. For me, the New Year means going back to the North, moving back into my little room in the Youth Hostel-esque flat. A total of 2 exams because I'm a clever (read: incredibly lucky) girlie. The Megabus trip, and more schnapps and education and things.

I don't really have any resolutions. If I wanted to change my life I wouldn't wait until the bloody middle of winter to do it.

Oh, and January weather sucks. But that's about it.

I look at New Years as a good reason to get drunk, and also a time to go over your ups and downs of the last year.

Basically I try and do better with the new year, and sometimes I'll even make resolutions... which usually get broken.

Well, I'm ready for next year, even though I have this feeling that it's not going to be that great. One thing I'm looking forward to are the USA elections; I can't wait to get Bush out of the office, just as long as Hillary isn't the one who takes his place. Hopefully I manage to get myself a job, as well. That's not my New Years resolution though..I don't have any New Years resolutions >_>.

its been a great (short!?!) year for me, seems like just yesterday i was bringing in 07 and now its almost 08!

Looking back at the last year alot has happened to change my life...
had a son
celebrated my 1 year aniversery with my wife
changed jobs again (back to my old one)
partied a little
played (and beat) a butt load of my old vid games.

crap this list could go on for a while so i am going to stop now, like i said its been a great life changing year and tons of fun.

Hope next year goes by a little slower!

No, as one who fears change I am not ready for 2008. Sometimes, I lay awake in bed all night, sweat dripping down my brow, fearful of what awaits me in the New Year. If I could I'd tie a rope around the earth and stop it from rotating around the Sun in an attempt to make sure tomorrow never comes.

Tonight, when I climb into bed, I'm going to pray extra hard that it remains 2007 for the rest of my life....

well this time in 2006 was starting out pretty bad,my grandma started getting sick and then all throughout 2007 she was sick and she died in July,so 2007 was a pretty bad year for me,especially since after my grandma died my friend(well ex friend) decided to not be my friend anymore,then we made up and yesterday she decided to not be my friend again,so again the new year seems likes its gonna go bad cause thats what happened last year. I just hope it gets better,i never make resolutions but this time i have and plan to stick to them,so i'm going to try to be more positive toward the new year even though so far its been crappy(well the end of 2007 has) it seems if things end badly then they start badly heh,I suppose i'm looking forward to it this year,i just hope things are better this coming year then 2007 was.

I'm not ready for it. It's an election year and it has a dark ominous vibe. I don't like it. But I suppose it has happened before and will again. Changes for the worst are not my favorite thing, but one must not hide from the undercurrent of unpleasantness that follows chance, fate and politics. At least we will crawl out from under our presidential rock. I just hope we don't get pelted with another.

Hah, not very taoist to be a pesimistic whiner. This is Taoist, that is not...blah blah blah... In the end, I must confess that next year worries me. I'll drink to everyone's health twice this new year, maybe it will bring us all luck.
