FF repeating itself?

I personally admit that I'm a FF addict. But there is something that annoyes me which is that FF doesn't stop repeating itself over and over again in each game in this series. I'm not talking about magic and summon and all the fighting patterns but about the storyline of the game. Let's see:
Terra in FF6 doesn't remember her past just like Cloud in 7 and all the characters in 8 except Irvin and Rinoa and like Zidane and Dagger in9.

Kefka develops a supreme form and two wings, Sephiroth is the same but with only one wing. Kuja went into trance "no wings this time" while Ultimicia combines with griever to have her wings like the others!

Terra is half Esper and half Human, Dagger the last survivor of the summoner tribe...they both survived a disaster and lost their mothers in their childhood!

The final battle always takes place in a strange dimension or time.

There is always Cid, Biggs and Wedge, Rangrock "once as a sward and once as a spaceship!"

There is always that part in the game when the characters try to learn who they are and what is their purpose. I hate it when I have to watch these sequences too much. In FF7 in Cloud's mind, in FF8 when in Trabia Garden they were remembering their old days in the orphange and in FF9 when Zidane was confused in deciding which side will he take. I feel that these parts are not perfectly done like the rest of the game and some of them were too boring or childish.

any one can add more self repeats in the series?
Some times its fun and you like to see something happening in each game like having an airship or having Bahamut as a summon monster. But some times it makes you feel annoyed when it comes to repeating something in the storyline.

who can add more?

You think that's bad, try the Zelda series.

Well I think each new game has an interesting and original storyline, they all have their own twists, and in the end I don't think they intentionally planned any storyline similarities I think it's just where their creative path leads them.

So far as similarities such as cid/ragnarok/biggs&wedge/airships/etc.. That is on purpose, if the different games didn't share some similarities then why would they bother making Final Fantasy a series, they might as well just be different games altogether.

I do see your point, but I tend to try shy away from being cynical, and rather looking at the positives and the creative and artistic elements of each game. I think Square is doing a good job no matter how much the series are changing or how much they are staying the same.

Oh, and Dagger wasn't the last member of the summoner tribe, Eiko was until Dagger's history was revealed. ^_^

Cant forget that aerith was the last of the ancients and she lost her mother also.
as for Biggs he was not introduced till later in the series (FF7 i beleive) if you play the ealier games on their original platform his name was vics his name has been changed in rereleased versions, dont know why.

With as many different worlds that the series changes to, i kinda figured that each world would have a different name for money besides just gil and gold.

There are repetative monsters that make appearances though out the series such as the jelly classifications.

Thats just to get started and to name a few that you did not mention.

But for namesake reasons some of these things have to be the same to link to the original titles together. Heck even then crystals do the same things in every one of the games that they appear in...

But anyways i could care less if there is a repetative feeling to the series thats part of what keeps me coming back for more! Even though there are a few simularities the over all games are always different and thats what really matters.

thanks for the replies everyone

Pulse , I do get ur point and I said previously that it some times doesn't seem that bad.
And after all I do the same as you do and just enjoy the game and try to forget about the bad things.

By the way Biggs and Wedge appeared very early in FF6 in the 1st scene when Terra was wearing that slave crown. Thew were her companions.

No as Meier said they changed his name in re-releases to Biggs from Vicks, see below. ^_^

The game that made me realize that FF was repeating itself, was FFVIII. The characters were far too similar to those in FF7.

Squall was a brown-haired Cloud.
Seifer was a teenaged Rufus, coat, hair, and all.
Quistis looked a lot like Scarlet.
Rinoa was a flat-chested Tifa, minus the bad-assery.
Selphie was a non-thief version of Yuffie.
Zell was like Cid.
Irvine was the only one unlike someone from FF7. [Sorta like Reno, a little.]

A lot of those same characters, had their character designs pop up in The Bouncer, as well.
Sion as Squall
Kaldea Orchid as Rinoa
Dauragon as Seifer
Echidna as Quistis [The face. It's all in the face.]
Dominique as Selphie
Volt as Zell

I really think it's the character designs and the character stereotypes that's been reused a lot, especially the character stereotypes. I'll use the newer-gen chars as examples:

FF7:
Hero: Cloud
Heroine: Aerith/Tifa [Only one with two competing for the spot.]
Cheerful girl: Yuffie
Hothead/Stupid: Cid
Mysterious/Serious: Vincent
Sexy male: Missing

FF8:
Hero: Squall
Heroine: Rinoa
Cheerful girl: Selphie
Hothead/Stupid: Zell
Mysterious/Serious: Quistis
Sexy male: Irvine

FF9:
Hero: Zidane
Heroine: Garnet/Dagger
Cheerful girl: Eiko
Hothead/Stupid: Steiner
Mysterious/Serious: Freya
Sexy male: Missing.

FF10:
Hero: Tidus
Heroine: Yuna
Cheerful girl: Rikku
Hothead/Stupid: Wakka
Mysterious/Serious: Lulu/Auron
Sexy male: ....Auron?

FF12:
Hero: Vaan
Heroine: Ashe
Cheerful girl: Penelo
Hothead/Stupid: Absent
Mysterious/Serious: Fran/Basch
Sexy male: Balthier

In every FF, there seems to always be two characters always included: a serious one, and a cheerful one. In every one. I suppose it can't be avoided, but I still find it odd.
