Weird phobias.

Firstly, I did look this up before I posted it and while there were two other topics that involved phobias they hadn't been replied to for over a year so I thought it would be ohkay to start fresh.

Now, today, in half an hour I have to go get a needle at school. I have always had a phobia of needles and I don't really know why. Afterwards i'm fine with it. It's just before I freak myself out.

I also have a phobia of magpies. If I see one. I get up and run. I'm just always so paranoid they will attack me.

So what are you scared of?

im scared of my own shadow sometimes. Sometimes i forget i have one and i think someone is hiding. But, then i walk foward and find out its my shadow. Forgetihaveashadowandscaremephobia? lol...

Well I dont know why but rats scare the crap out of me!!!...I dont think they are gross..Im just scared because I once had a pet rat and it got out of its cage..I tried to caught it and it bit my hand and ran away.This happened when I was 7 and Ive been afraid ever since. I dont kno what phobia its called but Ima call it Rataphobia..

I used to have pet rats. They were well trained and used a littler tray and came to their name. But wild rats would still freak me out. I'm not sure why that is. Same went for pet mice and wild mice.

Oh, and I got my needle before. It went fairly well. I didn't end up crying so I guess that is a plus.

Ooh Phobias. I did a study only semesters ago about the various common phobias.

Priscilla, your fear of needles is termed: Aichmophobia, I believe.

As for myself, I'm something of a rare study. I have "counterphobia." Which is to say that I actually seek out confrontation with the fixations of my phobias. That is not to say that I have no fears, but more to say that I constantly am compelled to emerse myself in them. I'm absolutely terrified of heights and you will see me at the top of St. Louis Arch, or flying on a plane, scared out of my wits.

I have only two diagnosed phobias, fear of heights being neither seeing as it is not taken to an irrational level and is not inofitself an irrational fear.

Kenophobia(fear of great open spaces)
Philosophobia(fear of philosophy)

Though I consider the latter to be more of a mania, my psychologist told me, however, seeing as I exhibit counterphobia, then it could be a fear. He lost me there, but I did not earn a doctorates as he did.

Though if you speak to Govinda she might try and sell you that I am francophobic. : /

I guess I would call this a phobia.. Not sure.

I've always been terrified of losing things that I hate. Perhaps one of the reason I'm an absolute miserable pain in the arse sometimes.

I've suffered from Bipolar disorder and Majour Depressive disorder for about four years now, and honestly, I hate it. Yet everytime I do have a massive breakdown and people try to help me, I blatantly refuse the help. I'm quite literally terrified of losing the sorry state of mental health I'm in.

I'm not sure if this is in the same category, but I also greatly fear losing the hallucinations I have. They aren't drug-induced at all.. But I've refused trying to let somebody diagnose what is actually causing them.

Oddly enough, I'm bloody terrified of the hallucinations.. At times they're comforting and at times they're somewhat evil but they always scare me... Yet I really don't want to lose them. And I crave seeing them.

Now that I read the post above, it seems vaguely like counterphobia, what Sinister mentioned. Although it's hard to say because the hallucinations aren't real..

All I know is I'm terrified of them, and terrified of losing them.

Yeah.. I have a phobia of needles as well. I had to get a blood test early this morning because I was taken to the hospital for severe lower stomach pains. The needle actually didn't worry me much though because I was too sore to even notice it really. I don't like them what so ever usually, I get incredibly nervous before them as well lol.

I am quite terrified of cane toads, I know a few people who are. They are nasty looking and I just can't stand seeing them. I hate going outside in the summer nights because they are usually around everywhere. If I go near one, I will scream and run from it. They're icky and horrible!

I also dislike spiders, poisonous or non-harmless.. they all scare me. We get quite a few here which makes things worse. I don't like seeing them in my room at night when I'm trying to sleep, I keep thinking they are going to crawl onto me during the night hahaha.

I don't crowds of people, I get nervous.

Claustraphobia.

Rat tails. Not the actual rat, just the tail.

Aye. I'm also afraid of the lies some people make up just for attention. Oh well.

Chez, I know quite a few people who are scared of rats tails and not the acutal rat itself. It's quite common

Oh and thanks for the acutal name of what it's called. It's much better to have a name for something and know what it is.

Wasps are my only phobia really, spiders etc. don't do anything for me..just wasps freak me out, I truly hate them at the same time though.
So when I see one I'll spazz out and then come back to kill it.

Insects with no or too many legs
Small animals or insects that walk too quickly (crabs

)
Puppets, or anything related to that such as dolls
Enclosed spaces (not really a scary feeling, but more of a uncomfortable one)
Being high up without any support (e.g standing on a chair in the middle of a room without anything to hold onto)

Aha, I remember other phobia's now.

The possibility of the existence of ghosts, octupuses and crabs.

I remembered my irrational crab fear after Harmonize expressed her own. I remember my boyfriend and I went to the Sealife Center in Brighton... There was a giant picture of a crab. It creeped me out.

Yeah i'm scared of the possibility of ghosts existing as well. I scare myself silly and then I have to sleep with the light on. It's pretty bad

Haha, aye, I've had that happen many a time with me... I try not to let it scare me these days since I'm an adult now, but I guess adults are afraid sometimes, too.

I wear glasses, and sometimes when I look around, light reflects in them. Many a time I've freaked out,t hinking it was a running ghost or something.
