news on ff13

i jus got my egm magazine today and i sw it hd a thing about ff13 in it so i thought id share. i qoute. After months of Square trickling out info on both FFXIII console projects, the publisher is finally talkin'. FFXIII's encounters will feature a more pronounced action element. And thoose random battles? They're gone for good; FFXIII will build on the FFXI/FFXII style, where combat begins as you encounter foes naturally. Battle Director Toshiro Tsuchida hopes to push it to a new level, where enemies exist in "ecosystems" and act independantly of the player according to the monster's feelings, surroundings, and interactions with other critters. Meanwhile, expect the action-RPG Final Fantasy Versus XII to be even stranger, a cross between kingdom hearts and... well, we're not entirely sure. Every weapon has its own camera and control system, including one that resembles a thrid-person shooter. Plese let that perspective play nothing like FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus (PS2). END QUOTE. wow sounds like a square is taking some risks. i hope its worth it. but i dont think ill like ff13 versus if i ever play it, it just doesnt sound good. but mayb i will. opinions on quote?

I didn't understand, sorry, does FFXIII have a system that ressembles a shooter? or FFvsXIII?
Is FFXIII's system going to be similar to FXII's?

I have that EGM magazine as well. I didn't bother reading the article. I just skimmed it. I think Versus is going to be similar to DoC, whereas FFXIII is going to be new all on its own. It'll be nothing like FFXII.

The new battle system sounds interesting. If Square sits down and is careful im sure they can pull it off.

They put togehter a game with Final Fantasy Characters with Disney Characters. They can do anything.

That's interesting. Personally I think its a great change and I like how Square is eliminating the random battle encounters on FFXIII. It'll be interesting to see what they mean by "feelings and interations" when FFXIII comes out.

FFXII is a great game, but I'm glad how they're not making it similar to it though. I'm kinda shocked by how they are gonna make it similar to DoC. I haven't played Doc, but we'll see if they can pull it off like Oathkeeper13 mentioned.

ok so heres what i think.... i REALLY dont think its gonna be like DoC.... cuz seriously... it wasnt that great (the gameplay i mean). it COULD HAVE BEEN pretty good.. it had potential... but it didnt work... and i think they know that... and besides... that was a ps2 game.. im sure they wont be making a game on the ps3 when they could do just the same on the ps2... it makes no sense... so i think that FFVSXIII will be extremely cool.... but thats just my opinion...

After playing, XI and XII, I really missed the random battles. They made levelling up that much faster for me. Especially the world maps.
I'm certainly gonna miss them.

As for Dirge Of Cerebus, the only problem with it that I had was that it was too easy and left me wondering too hard at the significance of G. Especially after experiencing a patched version of Crisis Core. Might have been a bad translation or something but......

Nope PS3 only, there's also a Mobile Phone FFXIII game called Agito.

Random battles are gay only because when you don't want them, they come to you. And switching to another screen dedicated to the battles is so bad.

I like XII's system where you can choose to run away easily even if you encountered them.
