Wii or PS3???

I think the Wii is better cuz the price for the PS3 is insane!! Plus I own a Wii and it is really fun.

ok heres what i think... i REALLY dont think the wii will be the future of gaming... ok let me start over..... i would get a ps3 if i were you... i just cant see people in the future playing with the wii mote years from now..... i think they are gonna be like... "ok i just wanna play a game that i can just sit with a controller and enjoy it and relax" i really dont think people are gonna wanna play with the wii mote in the future.... and yes they have the regular controller for it but seriously... why would you pay 250 bucks for a system that has almost the same graphics as a game cube or xbox.. it KINDA makes no sense... and i dont think every game can be good with the wii mote... some yes... but i just rteally dont think they can make ANY game with the functions of the wii mote... well there is my rant.... ps3 has more power and ROOM and the BC is already fixed.. they are able to do unimaginable things with the power the ps3 has.....

But that's the thing, you can play games using a simple controller. There are all the downloadable classics from the snes and n64 amongst others, and other games will also supposedly use the classic controller, Super Smash Bros. Brawl being one of them. I see the wii as the future of console gaming because of the possibilities. And hell, it's fun.

From my understanding they never fixed the BC for PS1 games and that they still don't look as nice as they originally did. (Can anyone confirm this for me?) And I also heard that the BC on the European PS3 only supports about 1000 games. Again correct me if I'm wrong it just doesn't seem like BC is one of the PS3's strong points(tho its much better then 360s but thats off topic).

Wii on the other hand is totally 100% backwards compatible with Game Cube games. You can even plug in Game Cube controllers and memory cards.

You know what, i might get a Wii cause its worth its price and its got Zelda.
Plus it doesnt seem to have as many problems as the PS3 have so I thank you guys for your opinions about the systems and the time you put into this thread. Thx people for your help on my desion making issue.

I heard that the new PS3's firmware(1.5?) fixed some BC issues.
How is the BC now?
Will it play all game fine or just some?

Though I personally can't say that it did, Wikipedia says that it fixed all but a very few backwards compatability problems. The problems remain for games that didn't follow Sony's programming guidelines or sommat like that. It's like the games that don't work for BLEEM.

Depends on what you mean by "worth the price". Compared to the cost of the Xbox 360 for example, you're certainly paying for your hardware. Around here atleast you can get the 360 Premium for little more than the price of a Wii.

So, how many are them?
Do all of ps2's games work?
and psx's?

There's actually a few few. I noticed similarities between the numbers of games which won't run at all on an emulator being fairly similar to the amount which wouldn't run on the PS3. A few more will run on the PS3 than emulators, but it isn't many more. All square games seem to work fine though. Haven't tried disc swapping though........

April 18, 2007 - The PS3 firmware update we've all been waiting for has at last arrived! What's that? Upscaling for backwards compatible games? Uhh... not quite. True DVR-style recording features? Uhh... we're going to have to wait just a bit longer for that one.

Today's update, which takes the PS3 to system version 1.70, at long last makes all those Game Archives games playable on the PS3. Previously, the downloadable PlayStation titles were only playable on the PSP.

Game Watch reports that a few PlayStation titles will continue to work exclusively on the PSP for the time being. Sony has yet to specify which games will be cross compatible. PS3-ready downloads will begin on 4/26, so we'l have to check the PlayStation Store at that time.

Save data for your PlayStation game downloads will be usable on both the PS3 and PSP. To enable this shared functionality, you'll have to update your PSP to System 3.40, which is also available today.

Sony's official Game Archives page alludes to games from "other formats" becoming available for download and play exclusively on the PS3. Such titles and formats have yet to be announced.

The PS3 update also improves backwards compatibility with PS2 games thanks to improved peripheral support. You'll now be able to use force feedback in Logitech's GT-Force Pro steering wheel (that's right, your PS3 is going to make something rumble!). Also added to the compatibility list are the Densha de Go! Controller Type 2, the Densha de Go! Shinkansen Controller and Hori's Flight Stick 2.

Strictly speaking, this update news concerns Japanese model PS3 and PSP systems only. However, if history is anything to go by, similar updates should be available around the same time wherever you happen to live.

but why would someone pay $250 for a game system that plays classic games (which im sure people already have on the ORGINAL system)..... AND if you were to play the wii with the classic remote control... then what else is there to rely on for the wii? the graphics arent TOO much better (but i admit they are a lil better..) and there just isnt much more that i can think of that is worth the 250 price tag...

Dude, don't bash on the ps3 like that, the ps series have great games, and realistic graphics are the future.
Great graphics can be fun too, even if don't have that nostalgic feeling.
Just look at FFXII.
Don't want a ps3, don't buy it, just don't bash it around all the time, it's a great system, not perfect, but great.

Personally I think that wii and the PS3 are both inferior to the 360 which destroys both systems. But since I can only compare the PS3 and the wii...

PS3: Not a bad system for a hard core gamer, but the problem with it is that you wont find a good selection of software for a couple of years. Its pretty expensive too. Bad online...

Wii: Good fun system thats inexpensive. This system is for children and people who really don't take gaming too seriously.

I don't know which one I would get, but if you have a 360 there is really no point in buying either of these systems.
