A raw darkness devoured the dungeon and left it with a deep stench, that of death and rotting. Bones scattered the floor as the pope squinted through the darkness calling in vain for a helper that he already assumed had long since perished,

"Reemah, Reemah. Are you there? Reemah?"

The old man hung his head, his well trimmed facial hair now a mass of muck and dust. His mouth grew dry and his head tired and his pearl and golden robes lay about him tattered and ragged hanging by threads on his withered, old frame. The last remaining strength he had was being devoted to holding himself up in the shakles that hung him from the wall and cut his wrists deeply whenever his strength failed him. He looked up with one last gasp,

"Reemah, are you alive, are you safe?" He futily called out into the darkness, only the rank smell of corpses and a terrifying mix of shrill cries called back.

His eye's stung and his eyelids clamped shut as light suddenly flooded them. He pulled to move his palm in the way causing the cold of the steel to again lacerate his upper wrist. A loud grunt of a cough was heard as if the door's opener had cleared his throat.

"My Lord will see you now" Came a voice the listeners old ears knew well, but the lump in his throat begged his ears decieved him. Unfortunatly, his eyes came as second evidence and he let out a cry of more pain than the physical he had endured.

Pope Cal-Illya VI's faith left him, his head hung in a defeated manner. He swallowed hard before replying, he looked up and into the eye's of his captor,

"Tell him I would be most... Most honoured" He said with a pressed effort as he looked at his younger brother, "Take care of our yourself Reemah".

Skye looked forward at Shino, who's gaze had at last left her. She heard a shrill calling from outside the craft and walked back to stick her head out, another force was attempting to gather forces from the main town center. Even as this happened an entire army of Valarai soldiers poured out from the surrounding ships to counter-attack the strange new force. A troop flew past her, the commander yelled out to his men,

"We have recieved word they are Argosans, we had peace with them. They broke it men, show no mercy."

Skye stood out to get a better look and was swiftly dragged away in a vast current of armoured men, she called out to Shino and realised what a fool she had been. Her curiosity was becoming quite a nuisance. Before she knew it she was stood on teh frontline of a stupidly overpowering assault on an army of 50 men, there were at least 3 Valarai troops to every 1 of the attacking force.

Skye moved to the side trying to force back through the crowd but a soldier pushed her back and said to her,

"Protect the villagers" He obviously didnt realise that she wasn't a soldier, nor did she have any real fighting experiance. He must have assumed she was a soldier simply out of uniform. He threw her forward at a single commander that stood at the forefront of the Argosan troops.

"Raino may be fairly large but all the important ports are close to each other. Take your soldiers to the main one and lock it down, more troops are on the way down as we speak. Do not let any ship leave the ports, but if they do, they'll be seized or shot down right quick." Spoke the commander to an underling she was sure he had called a 'hammer'.

The commander turned to her and looked at the soldiers from Valarai which now encircled him, he rose his sword in a defiant stance. Skye dropped to her knee's and raised her arms above her head, cowering. She was no soldier.

"Where does it come from, this quest? This need to solve life's mysteries? In the end, what does it matter, when the human heart can only find meaning in the smallest of moments?"
