Pet fish? Anyone?

I had several pet fishes while growing up. They don't live that long sadly and it sucks though because when I was about 7 or 8 years old, I had this fish named "Gil" and I don't know but for some reason I got attached to him and close to him. I was closer to him then my pet dog at the time. How lame was I? But he died and I took it hard and yeah.

Now I have this goldfish name Bronco who's been alive for almost three years surprisingly. Its a miracle that he's been alive this long though and he's pretty fine being by himself without any other fished in the tank I'm guessing. We used to have like 6 or so in a tank and they would all die except him for some reason. He's a survivor I guess...

I love fish. Live fish that is. I know that
fish are supposed to have a low-upkeep in
care and maintainance, but even with that
I could not take care of the fish I used to
own. The glass was green with algae so thick
you could not see through it. The water was
evaporating and there was poop everywhere.
I was lazy, and that laziness made me realize
I can't even take care of the one of the easiest
pets in the world to take care of. *sob*

Nevertheless, I love to look at them. Honestly
I could stare for hours.

Well at the minute, my little sister has a fish. Originally she got two for Christmas but one died. After she cried loads, my parents got her two more. Then they died to we're left with one of the originals. She's named this one Ant (after Ant and Dec because the first fish was called Dec). I'm not to bothered about these fish but there hers anyway.

However, I have almost killed this fish though by accident. Now don't go thinking I'm a fish killer because it was an accident. The phone was ringing and my mum asked me to go get it. So as i ran downstairs to the living room (which at the time was being redecorated), my leg knocked against the table the fish tank was on and knocked it over. Litres of water when all over the carpet and poor Ant was there in the middle of it all. Still he's survived because we got him back into water, etc. You get the picture.

Used to have fish...my last one, Bob, died like last summer.
Bob totally rocked the place. it was a vacuumcleaner-fish. or whatever you call it in english, it was big, fat and it sucked off the walls of the aquarium.
Well we had it for about 8 years (yupz old fish) but for about half a year it was already acting a little bit odd and eventually it died. It was sad, since we already had him for this damn long time.
It had a bigass friend (BAB) that died a few years before that cause it suicide jumped out of the fishtank.
all the small fishes BOB ate during the years.

Oh...the people who think a bowl of water is suffiecient for a fish...poor fishies. They get all excited if a goldfish makes it to ten years, but do you know how old they can get if taken care of properly? An easy 30. Yes, thirty. Many people have no clue about water values, water care, proper feeding, hell, even just about refreshening the water...I could go on forever...

While I was in college I had classes about fish care, so I know much. Too much...too much.

I got a new fish a few weeks back. Ringo te Girl, Gandhi's companion in the tank with the blue bridge, sadly died. Always knew she'd be a quick fish, I bought her because she was unwell and the petshop was treating her and her whole tank like crap. She was one of about three living fish in a tank of corpses. But yeah, she died.

So! I bought Zissousa, named after Steve Zissou! You know, aquatic theme. But the fish looked like a girl, so I made Zissou's name feminine.

Zissousa was purchased in the same local family-run chain of fish torture pits as Ringo; North Ayrshire's very own Precious Pets. She was in a tank of corpses, but very alive. Lovely long fins, very beautiful. She's eating just now, with Gandhi. They get on very well.

Haha! Two paragraphs about getting a new goldfish, a mundane subject frilled out for no reason other than...well, I'm not sure. I'm certainly amused by my own absurdity though.
