Heaven's Decision OOC

Your alter ego was living out his daily routine like every single human being on this planet. The world is normal, and nothing out of the ordinary exists. However, one day for an unknown reason, Jesus descends, proving that indeed there exists a higher, seemingly benevolent god, and most likely an antagonistic one too. Jesus quickly gathers a handful of people from all over the world, about 200, stating that they are the only human beings that deserve salvation, and who will ascend to Heaven with him. The rest will remain on Earth, which would become none other than their personal hell.

After that event took place many people, feeling abandoned and desolated, committed suicide. Roughly 40% of the remaining population died in a week. Then on monday, everyone had the same dream: a man dressed in pure white, with a wicked grin tells you that he's Satan. You accept it as an undeniable fact, because despite his clean appearance, and overwhelming charisma, you feel the terrifying, powerful being underneath; the appearance in front of you a mere facade. He explains you God has abandoned you, but he will not let things end here. For the purpose of a greater scheme, he says, he will grant you power. He says he will also grant power to every other human, and you'll have one year to do what you want. If you prove yourself to him, he will take you to his side, and use you in his mission. to reclaim the heavens.

What type of power would you like?

On tuesday morning, creatures and beings that only existed within the fantasy realm of books spawned. Men and women that were ordinary just a week ago, did extraordinary things. They were once normal humans, but Satan had granted them what they asked. Fights started everywhere, as everyone used their new powers to their heart's content.

Now, this RP is very simple in the aspect that it will have no factions, no people of note whose names you need to remember, no magical world to explore, or anything like that. Satan granted you, like everyone else, some type of power. People are just out there using it, some to survive, some for fun, some out of desperation of being forsaken by God, among other reasons.

Your character does not need to be a Satan worshiper. Whether you willed it or not, Satan gave you power. In fact, you can loathe, love or be indifferent to Satan and/or God.

There's only one catch though: you are not outright powerful. Your powers are growing, but you are going to start from ground level, like everyone else, gradually becoming more powerful.

Thus said, you can be anything you want, other than, of course, any god-like beings. It is a paradox in itself for an all powerful being to create something more powerful than him. Think about it like if a powerful being would come to you and ask you; you'd probably want to have powers like a character in some book, movie or series. Something within your imagination. You can have the powers of a famous character like Superman, or you can be something more underground like a generic demon if you wish. Choice is yours.

As the year ends (of course, within the timeline of the RP) more elements are going to take part in the plot, but I am not optimistic enough to think we'll get there. On the meantime is just going to be a survival RP. You can join forces with other players and/or NPCs if you want since everyone, despite their powers, are still rational creatures and might resort to the 'strength in numbers' philosophy.

Your profile needs to include your name, age, appearance, a brief explanation of your powers, your mindset (where do you stand in all of this? Do you just want to use your powers to your heart's content? Do you resent being abandoned by God, and still believe there's hope for you? Do you want to prove yourself to Satan to take part of his scheme? Do you even care about this, feeling dragged into this whole mess? Do you want to save humanity?), and last, if you want, your background explaining what you were as a ordinary human being, although don't go overboard with this since it's somewhat irrelevant at this point.

Now, before you join, please read these last points, as they will detail very important information about the RP in general (rules, if you want to call them) that I want everyone to be aware before typing anything.

- Any power is ok, but don't god mod. I don't want any character that can explode anyone's head with a mere wink of the eye. Remember also that you'll not start knowing the full extent of your powers.

- Any weapons are allowed, except sci-fi ones, since the RP takes place on year 2007 with our current technology, in our current world. Yes, bullets do damage to extraordinary beings unless their power makes their skin turn extremely hard, or they are very tough and can disregard such wounds.

- The RP starts one week after everyone got their powers. Do not state in your profile that you "trained your powers in the mountains for a month" because that will mean you haven't read this clause, and I will not allow you to join.

- Be active. I know every RP states this, but tired of inactivity, I'm going to take a different approach. Be active, or I will kill your character, and kick you out. I will not give you warnings before I do so. If you are having trouble posting, because of whatever, report it on the OOC thread. Same if you are going to be absent. By "active" I'm going to define keeping up with my pace. I have a job (and soon college, unfortunately) so as you can probably guess I don't have all the time in the world to post. Normally a post every two or three days is ok, it depends. I know sometimes you don't have anything to post, and that's ok, it happens to me sometimes. But if this repeats itself all the time, I'll kick you out.

- I am also not going to be allowing anyone to join. I've been on this board for a while now, and I know several people from the group of RPers, so I have an idea of who's active and who's not.

- You cannot control Satan in any fashion. Period. Neither God, Jesus, or anyone from Heaven. Every other NPC, do whatever you want. Also, no visions of any sort.

- I realize there's a bit of religion involved in this RP. I'm a nonbeliever actually, so don't take this seriously if you are a religious person, or if you are offended by religious material. Your character can be as religious as you want.

- Keep in mind 40% of the population is gone due to massive suicide. It'd be logical for houses, and places to be deserted sometimes.

- You can be from anywhere around the world, but for the sake of having our characters meet, we'll say you were in the States for whatever reason (vacations, or something else) and are now stuck there (no flights home are taking place, of course).

Name: Bakura Ryo/Yami Bakura
Age: 17/5000
Appearance: Avatar/Signature; White hair, dark brown eyes. Attire often changes unlike some people. Wears a large golden ring around his neck.
Mindset: Believed in God, but never worshiped him as a deity./He's always believed himself to be a God. Now he can prove it.
Powers: The Duel Monsters world, along with the Shadow Realm has been brought to reality. (Though really, the Shadow Realm is just his own sub division of Hell.)


Biography: Bakura Ryo was a normal student who admired the Occult and reflected that within his Duel Monsters deck. That is, until Satan revealed himself and dawned on him the Millenium Ring. This feels like Deja Vu... he thought to himself.

Later that night, he began hearing a sinister voice inside of his mind. He had no idea where it came from.

Name: Reilly Sanders
Age: 22
Appearance: Reilly is 5"11' and has a semi-muscular body. He has brown hair that lays over his left eye a bit. He has dark green eyes and wears a pair of dark jeans with a Grey jacket over a Black shirt.
Mindset: Reilly was never religious, in fact he never believed in god until recently.
Powers: Telekineses or the ability to move things with his mind.

Biography: Reilly is a all around good person, never really hurt anybody. He has had an easy life and makes decent money. He had no idea why he was not taken. Reilly has begun to stress, people are starting to go mad, and Reilly is sure this is hell.

Reilly was staying at a Motel 6 before heading off to meet his family when the "Rapture" happened. Being stuck there he just started living there until he could get home. Last night while he was sleeping a man was in his dreams, saying he was Satan, and that he would grant him one power. Reilly thought this was an innocent dream and said "Fine, I'd like to move things with my mind." "You mean Telekineses? sure..." Reilly awoke the next morning unsure of what the dream meant.

Name: Wyatt Pierson
Age: 29

Appearance: Stands around 6'2 and weighs about 213lbs. Has short black hair with light green eyes, usually wears some silver rimmed glasses too when his contacts are bothering him. Often is sharply dressed, usually in a button up shirt with a black jacket and some nice slacks. Has a pretty big wardrobe as his previous job paid him quite well. He's in great shape due to a strict workout regiment.

Mindset: Wyatt never really had the time for church but when he was able to go on Sundays, he tried to. He never hated god but wasn't that fond of him either. As far as Satan's plans, right now Wyatt is indifferent and cares only about how he can master his own power.

Powers: Magnetism- Has the power to control, manipulate magnetism and magnetic fields. As the power is just in it's infant stages, Wyatt is able to move small objects of metalic origin around but so far it's coming in bursts. He's really only been able to use it when his life was in danger.

Biography: Wyatt worked as an interpreter at the U.N until the calling up of people and the isolation of everyone else left on the face of the earth. When governments and politics started going to hell, Wyatt left his job. Before that, he was in the military. The night he left his job, he was approached by Satan in a dream asking him if he could have one power, what would he want it to be?

Acheron, your power is original, although it can easily become god-modding. I'm just going to place one restriction upon it, and if you disagree you can pick another power, I don't mind. People with strong willpower, mindset, ideas, whatever you want to call them, will not be swayed by your power. If you are ok with this, let me know.

Ah sorry, I really didn't think about the god-modding when I was thinking about the power. That sounds reasonable but the more I think of it, I think I'll be changing the power.

I'm a bit uncertain of what I'll be switching it to but I should have it changed by the end of tonight, is that okay?

As you can see, there's no rush. Even leaving god-modding aside, think of it in terms of logic-inside-the-fantasy. Remember Satan cannot give you anything more powerful than himself. Satan can certainly be persuasive, but I don't think he could rob you of your free will (which would be the extreme version of your power), as neither can God (technically) since religion always emphasized on free will. Blah.

Okay, Fehrant. I know that every time I join one of your Rps, it dies. And I assume that when you saw that I posted on this thread, your shoulders slumped. But I have read over your idea for this RP and it looks like a great one. I would like to join, but, as it said in your opening post, you will not let just anyone join.

So I'm asking if it is okay to join this RP. If it is not, I understand completely. If yes, then great. I'll post my char. profile if you okay me joining.

Name: Chad Castle

Age: 26

Appearance: Tall, 6' 3'', Chad is a good looking man. He is of Indian descent, thus giving him a tan look year round and black hair. He keeps it short, as his father was always strict on the length of his hair. He is strong, not overly muscular, but strong enough to handle himself in a fight. Chad played football and baseball all through high school and continues to remain active, going to the gym more than twice a week. He had to stay fit, just in case he was called to the front lines again.

Mindset: Called himself agnostic. He did not know if there was a God or not. But after spending two tours in Iraq and seeing the carnage of war, he wondered why would a God let this happen?

Powers: Invisibility- He can call on this power to make himself become invisible for short periods of time. Has not come anywhere close to mastering or even understanding this skill. He has little control over the power and this angers him.

Biography: Spent two tours in Iraq before coming home and getting a job at his father's bank. When the time came for the Good to leave, Chad's father, a church going man, was taken. It deeply affected Chad and almost forced him to commit suicide. But Chad persevered and managed to turn the former bank into a home for his friends. Then the man came to him in a dream and asked him what he wanted most....

I don't think you should take all the blame. I think it was everyone that neglected posting that killed the RP. Anyway, onto the RP...

Name: Albert E. Nestin.

Age: 20.

Appearance: Brown messy hair, and brown eyes. Rather weak looking, and somewhat pale skin due to not being under the sun too much, and spending time isolated. His usual clothes are nothing out of what one would call the ordinary, except perhaps in the way they all look messy, not properly taken care of, as if he would've slept on those clothes the night before. Has a rather absent-minded expression about his face, and definitely does not look half as intelligent as he really is. Overall, he gives an impression of a absent-minded person who has his head in the clouds.

Powers: Unlocking of his human intellect, being showered with knowledge of various technological disciplines up to this era. For more details, read biography.

Mindset: Being a rational person, he believes in things he sees. Having witnessed the descent of Jesus, he then acknowledged his existence. However, since he had not done so until that very moment, he obviously remained behind in Earth. At this point his only desire is of survival, but also to explore technology further, see what his new intellect can create.

Biography: Albert was always someone very intelligent, enjoyed sciences, easily passed his advanced chemistry and mathematics classes, and by the time he had finished high school, he took a major on engineering. He was easily reaching his third year of the career when the descent of Jesus took place. During his dream, he asked Satan grant him this: "knowledge of all scientific areas and a brain to be able to process them. This would include past, present, and future." Satan said he could give him what he desired, except for knowledge of what was to come, that is the future. Even he did not have the power to travel in time. Albert gladly accepted and when he woke up, he could build just anything, with little material. Day by day his mind unlocked new knowledge. He had become, in short, a genius.
