The Underground Strikes Back

King Kai of the fire kingdom sat in his large, firey throne and looked out over his blazing castle and fortresses. The view was beautiful as the sun set past the flaming walls that surrounded his castle.

A few hours later

"King! King! We need your help!"

"What?I must have fallen asleep.."

Kai looked over the balcony from his throne room and saw there was a surprise attack.

"The Underground...Gather all soldiers by the main walls..they are only attacking from there!"

Kane grabbed his two red and white swords and teleported down to ground level. He gathered any fire soldiers nearby and prepared to charge through the main gate and hit them hard. They didn't want any unnecessary damage to their walls if they could prevent it.

"Ready guys? Charge!"

The huge gate swung open knocking back many of the Underground first line. Lead by Kai, they charged at them, blasting fire magic at the huge gang of weird soldiers and creatures.

"There's only a few hundred, I think we can hold them off!"

Kai continued to cut through the enemies army with great ease, it was clear that they hadn't brought their elite warriors and they just wanted to catch Kai off guard...which worked.

After only about 30 minutes of fighting, the battle was over. The last of the Underground ran away but the rest were left dead, just outside the castle walls next to a great big hole which looked like how they arrived on the land. Before Kai could even think about jumping down there with his soldiers...the hole closed up.

"Next time."

"Well done everyone, I think that's the last of them, be alert for any other attacks."

Everyone went back through the gate and went back to what they were originally doing. Kai teleported back up to his balcony and sat back down in his throne looking out at the dead bodies and the damaged walls infront of him.

"Maybe next time I might be able to get down that hole..."

The sky grew darker as small droplets of water began to aimlessly fall from the clouds. Vaniraine quickened his pace as he looked around for any shelter. The blaring cry of the thunder could be heard in the distance over the splashing of water as he went by. He was in the borders of Asdera, a city of many great battles. The city was Vaniraine's only choice of protection for now.

He soon found his way to the Gates Seirvall, the western part of Asdera. Guards dressed heavily in armour stood infront of the gates. Vaniraine walked up to them wafed his jacket back.

"What business do you have here in Seirvall?"

"I'm searching for a place to rest for a few nights. I'm also looking for some work."

"Well in these parts, its not a very good place to be looking for such things. Though, very well. We must search you first."

Vaniraine put his arms in the air as the gurads rummaged through his pockets and bags until they finally finished.

"You may enter. But might I remind you to leave the city in three days if you do not wish to be involved in violence."

He gave a puzzled look at the guards reply, but headed on through as the Gatekeepers let him in. Walking slowly through the half empty streets, he found an Inn where gave the Woman 23 Gil(I think the currency is gil, if not then...)for a room. She gave him his keys and he walked up the sturdy wooden stairs and found his room.

Unlocking the door, he threw his things down next to the bed, making a loud crash as it hit the rug. Vaniraine sqeezed most water out of his clothes and switched into plain a robe as he flung his clothes out, letting it dry. He sat back onto the supporting matress and took a deep breath.

He felt like a small child in his bed, listening to his mother tell him stories of the great Gods and what they had done to help the planet grow into what it is today. Many thoughts passed through his mind until he drifted off into sleep.

Kou was sitting in the throne room in his palace. The room had one window on the left side. Kou looked out of the window. It was almost nighttime. He decided that he would stay there for a few more hours and then go to bed.
About ten minutes later, one of his advisors walked in. "please pardon the intrsion, sir, but there is an emergency. Our scouts have recently found a small camp of what appears to be an army camped a few miles to the south."
"The Underworld. I must go at once."

Kou ran up to the window and flew out. He looked down at the city, admiring the beauty from above that not too many others got to enjoy. why am I taking my time. he thought if this really is the underworld, I must hurry.

He sped up, going as quick as he could. He passed over the Southern gate. He was beginning to get tired from the flight, and he might need his energy for the fight ahead, so he landed outside the gate. He walked south, into the mountains, looking for the Underworld warriors

Kai woke up to a beautiful morning..the sun was shining through the balcony to his bedroom and lit up the room. He sat up in his bed and thought about the events of the night before.

After about 10 minutes, he got out of bed and put on his robes. The sun reflected off the shiny material that made his powerful look. He sat in his throne like he did every morning and looked out over the hills and mountains in the distance while he waited for his breakfast to be delivered.

*Knock Knock*

The door swung open and in came one of the workers from the kitchen.

"Mmmm what's it today?" Kai said in sarcasm.

"The usual my King."

Kai continued to look down at the people below him as he tucked into his first meal of the day, the most important one in his opinion. He looked at the training center and could see some elite soldier's training outside. Only elite soldiers stayed in the castle grounds, the rest of them were all over the fire lands, always on patrol for any attacks or other important events.

Just as Kai finished his breakfast, there was a knock on the door.

"Yes?" Sky, his bodyguard walked in.

"A scout has reported a camp between our lands and the lightning lands. He said he thinks it could be them again.

"Ok we will send out a bigger party in a few hours"

Kou was running through the mountains. It had been almost half a day, and it was already noon. He had to find these monsters, to prevent them from harming anybody in the Fire Lands. He had grown up training in the mountains, and he knew everything about them. He could navigate through them perfectly, and knew where the best places for a camp were, so he checked there first.

After checking a few locations, he finally found the Underground soldiers at the bottom of a valley. The camp was composed of about 2, maybe 3 hundred beasts. Their appearances varied from humanlike, to hideous beasts.

There was one in particular that caught Kou’s eye. Right in the middle of the camp, there was one giant beast. His image showed some resemblance to a Minotaur, but the head was that of a horse, and it had no horns. It was wearing heavy armor, and held two battle-axes. Kou instantly recognized him as their leader.

Kou sat there for a moment, calculating a plan for him alone to defeat these beasts, no easy task even for a king. Looking around the area, he found many spots on the mountain where he could hide and not be seen. He decided that come nightfall he would snipe them, use some of his high level lightning magic to attack them, and before they could tell where he was at, he would fly to another spot. First he walked over to one of the places in the mountains he saw, where he would wait until nightfall.

Sky pushed open the heavy wooden doors and entered the throne room, saying "Sir, you called?"

"Yes i did. Please sit down" Once Sky had seated himself in a luxurious arm chair Kai continued "There have been reports of a camp positioned in a valley between two mountains. Let me show you" Kai then rummages through a draw in the corner of the room and pulled out a map of the world. He then sat down once again and showed Sky where the camp was.

"I have strong feeling that this is an underground camp"

"When do i come into this sir?"

"Patience Sky. I wish for you to accompany me and a squad of elite soldiers. We will leave immediatly"

"Of course sir. I would be honoured to go into battle with you"

"Good, get your armour andc head towards the main gate"

At that Sky stood, bowed to the King and headed back to his room. When he got there he rushed through the oak wardrobe and pulled out a brilliant ruby long sword, and a set of gold plated armour. After fully equiping himself Sky headed towards the Gate and quickly found the soldiers waiting in a perfect square formation. They saluted him as he came into their field of vision, and then waited without saying a word for their king.

Kai soon approached them, and after saying an inspirational speach he led them out of the gate and towards the mountains. It was'nt a long march but still took them nearly 4 hours. After a high climb over a mountain the camp came into view. It was a horrific sight.

The beasts snarled and shouted at open space, and many of the creatures that stood on two feet looked ferocious and stood at nearly 7 foot. However most ofthem seemed to be smaller and looked to be scouts, not soldiers.

It seems as if their looking for a way into our kingdoms thought Sky

"We will attack at nightfall, and catch them off their guard. You" He called to one of the men "Find a cave that will fit us all"

The sun had set and everywhere was pitch black except for the Underground soldiers' camp which had a large fire in the middle. They had found a good cave which was only half a mile away from the enemy. They planned on attacking the camp from three different angles; from the front, and the two sides. The plan ensured that the Underground were attacked off guard and attacked from all different angles.

"Ok, lets go."

Kai pointed squads to take different routes and gave them all their instructions for attacking. The idea was for Kai and his men to charge in through the middle and then after a whole minute, the other soliders would charge in from the flanks, creating an Underground sandwich.

It didn't take long for everyone to get into position, they were all ready and waiting for Kai to make his move. As Kai was just about to get up and charge, out of nowhere came some lethal lightning bolts, causing Underground soldiers and creatures to fall to the ground, with a painful screech. Then suddenly, some of them fell to the ground, without a sound.

"Hehe, silencer...lightning bolts...must be Kou."

Kai waited until a few more perished and they were on full alert, concentrating mainly on the direction of where Kou must have been. Once they had their backs to him he got up and charged. They sprinted in, shooting fire magic in all directions and slicing creatures with their swords and after a minute, the squads from the flanks hit them from the sides. The plan seemed to be working and soon enough they were nearly gone. Kai lost no more than 20 men and it seemed to be a success. He stood in the middle of the camp, now filled with dead bodies and waited to see if Kou was still about.

"Kou? You there?"

Kou came out from the trees laughing.

"You stole all my fun!"

"I don't think you would have taken down all of them without them guessing where you was."

"Yeah..how did you know it was me?"

"No one is as sneaky as you...and only you use such an incredible level of lightning magic."

"I'll take that as a compliment...I must be going..I think that's the last of them, if you have any more trouble, you know where to find me."

Kai and his men made there was back to the castle after a good nights fighting...

Vaniraine awoke to the sounds of commotion in the streets. He gave a yawn and jumped out of his bed. After he splashed his face and shook his hair in proper place, he slipped on his vest and headed out. Worry seemed to strike Veirsall. This disturbed Vaniraine greatly. Walking into a small potions shop, he came to the owner standing by the counter.

Eh, sorry boy. Were closing up.

"What do you mean? Its only early morning."

"Haven't you heard? The King is ordering every shop, inn, or buisiness to be closing down until the war is over."

"War?! What war is coming?"

"What rock 'av you been living under boy? Asderas' going to war with the Undergrounds. Two days earlier than expected. I also hear the Forces are coming to help in the effort. Wait a minute, shouldn't you be with the battlers? You seem of age."

"war...with the Undergrounds..the Forces...what? Oh, I've only just arrived for a place to stay sir. I'm not one of the battlers."

"Well then go! Run! Get to the gates before they are closed! Once they're shut, they stay shut until the battle has a victor."

Vaniraine widened his eyes. He burst out of the shop to the Gates. Not even caring for the things he left in the Inn, he soon made his way to the Gates. They were slowly closing, however. Rushing past, he was cut off by the guards.

"Sorry, kid. There's no going now."

"Wait! But can't you just let me get through? Its not fully closed yet!"

The guards turned and watched as the Gates finally shut. Turning back to Vaniraine, they gave him a look.

"Well that was it. Go back, theres no way you can get out."

He gave a shocking look as he walked back. He climbed up a steady high roof and looked over the gates. He could see the great army of Undergrounds heading their way to All of Asdera. They would probably get there by Late afternoon..
