Lately, Square-Enix has brought back to life the wonderfull masterpieces of the earlier Final Fantasy series. So far, we've seen the restoration of FF I-VI and I have enjoyed re-living the experiances I've had these great games.
My point is, with the constant advance in gaming technology and the continuous unvailing of next-gen consoles, do you think that the company will continue to re-release the classics, including FF 7, 8 ,etc. Or even move the classics of FF I-VI onto glorious next-gen graphics. Or do you think that they will leave the old in the dust to make room for the new.

Well there has been alot of rumors and other information 2 suggest a remake of final fantasy VII for the ps3.
these rumors started when a demo of a the power of the ps3 was released with a complete remake of the beginning fmv of final fantasy VII to show the power of ps3.
But after this demo was released square enix said in a interview that the demo was not a piece of a final fantasy remake and they also said there were no plans to make one.
As for the other final fantasy games after VII ive no idea.

There was plans ages ago on the PS2 to remake FF VII, FFVIII and FF IX but they did'nt ever see the light of day seemed pretty pointless because they would'nt have looked that much better on the PS2 (well FF VIII and FF IX anyway) I actually did see a video (not sure if it was real or not) of the FF VIII dance sence on the PS2

FF VII then was shown on the PS3 and well the rumour has been going mad I don't really know if they are going to remake it or not I doubt it they have had plenty of chance to do it and I can't see who is going to make it? everyone is working on FF XIII?

In my personal view I would love to see FF I-VI remade on the PS3 how good would FF VI be in FF XII's graphics? just think people always complain that most FF fans never play the older games well here would be the chance thats just my two cents anyways.

Thats a great question, I would love to see a remake of Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9 but i don't know, those were great games and all, but i don't see it happening for a while not on PS3 anyway. I hope I'm wrong, i guess the only thing we can do is hope. Look at Kingdom Hearts, their making a remake of Chain of Memories, so theres always a great chance.

The remakes of the NES Final Fantasies have been really good. The Final Fantasy I changes were only visual, and it was for the better. I wish that III would come out for the PlayStation in some form or another, but oh well.

However, Final Fantasy IV and on do not need to be re-made. IV and VI look fine, and VII onward are still compelling.

Personally, I think it is great that Square has re-released some of their older titles on the DS and the PS1. It gives people who aren't old enough to have a SNES hidden in their attic, as well as older fans a chance to play these games on a console by which standards they are still good genuine gaming experiences.

Under no circumstances should any of these games be remade for the PS3 though. No matter how pretty the graphics will be, you'll still be sitting with a game which when it comes to gameplay is still 10 or so years old, and I really think that they should concentrate on making something new instead.
Also, the PS2 and PS3 are both backwards compatible and if you look a bit around the net, you can still find new copies of the PS1 Final Fantasies. So these games as well as the NES and SNES FF games which were re-released on the PS1, are still available to anyone with a Sony console in the household.

There IS one thing I'd really like though. Compile all the PS1 Final Fantasy games (perhaps even including Chrono Trigger and FFT) and release it on a blue-ray disc for the PS3. The Blue-ray format is perfect for something like that.

Square should remake all the ones from the 8 and 16 bit era. Starting w/2 and 3 (5 and 6, whatever) from the Snes. 3 was an epic that deserves a next-gen treatment. The GBA re-release does not count. 3, then 2, then whichever one they please. Dragon Warrior 1 thru 4 would be nice too. Don't hate, u know u played them.

I personally hope for FF6, above all, to be redone on the PS3.

With the exception of FF1 and 2, I wouldn't say any old FF games were "remade".

FF4, 5, and 6 were just re-released with some bonus dungeons and were identical on the Anthology release with some eye-candy CGI cutscenes thrown in.

I think FF7 WILL be remade on PS3 and that Square has been planning the following:

-After VII was dead and aged, remake it with amazing graphics, but try to get fans back into it and get fans of different genres to like it.
-Make a movie so movie-watchers would want to play the original.
-Make a shooter (DoC) so Shooting fans will get interested

ect., ect.

I think the whole purpose of the past FF7 spinoffs were to get fans of different genres to buy a rumored remake. The hype will be even bigger since these spin-offs have created a TON more fans. That doesn't mean I support their existence. =D

I do not care much for remakes though I wouldn't mind it, however I think they should take advantage of the Blu-Ray discs and put the first 9 on a disc along with Tactics, Erghiez, Bahamuts Lagoon and all the Spin offs... even though I already have most of them I would buy it (when I get a Ps3) for Tactics and Erghiez* alone. Also I think they should make a PS1 version of III with the same stuff except change the touch screen features to suit the Ps3 or even the PSP.

Well,that would require alot of work to be done.Should the SE staff get THAT tired?They already carry the heavy burden of spoiling FF stories & making all kinds of spin offs & chapterized games...TAke FF XIII for instance.Do you imagine what effort it takes to ruin it's consept?Great effort. Well,this is irony,for those who don't clearly grasp it.Anyways,that's a great idea.I have most of them too,but considering the power of PS3,i could expect no less than some sort of enhancement to them,like on FF I & II.Making a pack with the same games untouched is no better than the Sega Smash Pack,which has been published many times & contains the same games again & again.

Square had gotten tired,so i don't keep my hopes up.They had success over the years & some kicks in the "legs",so there's no motive to work for something better.If they made a game that was great & had amazing appeal to the players,i don't know whether it would seem like motive for them to keep up the good work,or a lame excuse to lay low for some time.I don't know.

I'd die happy if they re made Final Fantasy I-VI in the III DS graphic style. All the others don't need remakes in my opinion.
