Well, this club isn't getting the love it deserves....

I was wondering if I'd be able to join this club. Ed got me into Naruto a while back, and now I'm absolutely obsessed. I'm currently on episode 162, have only just watched the first movie, and am itching to start the shippuuden.

I'd have to say that I absolutely love the chidori. I kinda feel pitiful because whenever something starts sounding like a bunch of birds I'll scream, "Oh my god, it sounds like chidori!" And start spewing nonsense about how much I love Kakashi and Sasuke. Then, knowing me, I change the subject to Itachi, and....well that's off-subject now isn't it...

Naruto's kage buushin (Shadow replication), has gotten soo annoying though. If there was one jutsu that I'd want to kill it would be that one.

Erg, I'm slightly confused as to how you guys were explaing the names of Zabuza and Kakashi. In both English and Japanese, those are their first names. In both English and Japanese Hatake and Momochi are their last names. The Japanese merely put their family name ("last name") first and their individual ("first name") name last. Like Itachi said, this causes confusion...seeing that I'm totally confused by what you guys were trying to say back there. Probably just me though, lol.

"Naruto's chidori type thing" is called Rasengan. And while they're both just pure chakra, chidori and rasengan very different. I dont want to spoil anything so yeah..
Like most of Naruto's attacks, it gets on my nerves. He always uses it so predictably. Bandit attacks: kage buushin followed by rasengan. Someone steals his ramen:kage buushin followed by rasengan. It's the end of the world: kage buushin followed by rasengan. *sighs* Its pretty cool when someone else uses it though.

Also, on the subject of jutsu's. I must say that I love the jutsu that Tayuya (sp?) and Menma use. They play a certain song on a musical instument (usually a flute of some sorts [menma has an ocarania]) and it's the equivalent of hand signs. Tayauya uses genjutsu as well as ninjutsu and Menma uses Ninjutsu so it seems to be a hand sign replacement. It also seems to be exclusive to Sound Village/Rice Country, and possibly even to a specific clan. I haven't really researched it. (Why do bad guys have to be so cool?). Heck I'd want to be a sound ninja just to do that, even if there are a lot of flaws to it.

I'm now on about episode 213, but I'm going to watch more tonight, so that won't be accurate in about two hours.

Wow, I'm liking you Xeim. Your further into Naurto than me and you seem to have a wide knowledge of the anime. Its either that or I'm too easily impressed. Still, doesn't matter. Your bringing the club back to life (i hope).

Interesting topic though about Tayuya (sp?) and Menma. The fact they don't have to use hand seala sort of reminds me of Haku in a way. He only had to use one hand for some of his jutsu's which was kind of cool. I didn't see many disadvantages of that. still, look into it and tell us what you find. Oh and yes, the bad guys usually are cool.

And as a last note, don't worry about being hyper. I can put up with it.

Oooo, someone who can put up with my hyperness AND has a good understanding of Naruto. I'm liking you too. Heheh. And I'll try my hardest to help this club, but I can't do it alone-- Double posting isn't allowed. ^_^ I love Naruto, and think that this club should become much more popular than this. It really deserves it.

I have some habits (that can sometimes get bad, or rather....strange) of over analyzing situations, so naturally I try to retain every detail of an episode to try to make connections later. It's interesting what you can find with some knowledge, wikipedia, and a couple other sites.

As we saw a couple of times, the instruments easily break. Flutes snap in half at the strike of a kunai, ocarinas break upon being dropped. If you're really good at keeping your distance between you and your enemy, then a flute could really not have any flaws. Tayuya would've killed Shikamaru if Temari hadn't shown up. Ocarina's would not only require you to keep distance, but also to have a good grip. I suppose that's not too hard for ninja, or kunai would be flying all over the place, and I don't even want to think about what would happen to exploding tags....But it still seems as if it would be harder to use. I think the undefeatable Sound weapon would be the ability to perform jutsu with your voice. Not only would you not have to worry about keeping an instrument out of your enemy's reach (the stop to your voice would kill you), but you wouldn't have to carry an instrument around, leaving you open to throw kunai or shuriken while attacking with your voice. Your ability to move, dodge and attack would go way up--and you wouldn't even have to worry about hand signs. Heck, if I were a character in this show that's what I'd want to do. All you need is to be able to manipulate sound, which seems to be an ability that comes easily to most Sound ninja (hence the name...). Hah, I'd like to see Sasuke sing for us. That I'd get a kick out of. I'm still looking around for information on the "hand-sign replacement theory", but as of yet, I've found nothing to disprove this.

Haku did have to use hand signs, he was just EXTREMELY skilled with them. But I can see where you'r coming from with that. Great battle advantage.

I can see you're a fan of villains, Itachi. ^_^ I tend to try not to get attached to bad guys, because they usually get killed, and I have enough of a problem with all my favorite "good guy" charaters getting killed that I don't even want to start in (though I often start getting drawn toward them anyways)....but for some reason, I can't help but like Itachi and the Sound Village. At first was afraid of Itachi. I ran screaming from the room whenever I saw him. But, after a couple episodes, I really started liking him, however much of a....murderer he may be. He's just so cool! Now the only time I run screaming from the room is when I see fan-arts of him making out with his brother. I love yaoi and all...but Sasuke and Itachi?? They're blood related....

My first impression on Itachi was that he was cool. He looks it, he acts it and his moves reflect it. And here i thought I was the only one. I used wikipedia to findout what happened in those fillers after episode 136+. I just couldn't get into Naurto after that which is why I left it there. Shippuuden is starting to catch my attention though like I said before.

I don't see how two people who are not only related, but total enemies could work together. All I do is type in "Uchiha Sasuke" and ta-da! There he is in bed with his brother. Gross! Gross! Gross!

I do think Sasuke and Naruto are a cute couple. Man I get looked down upon for that. But, otherwise, I think the Naruto couplings people come up with are weird. i.e.---Sasuke and Kakashi.

My opinion on it has kind of flexuated. At first, I hated it. It REALLY depressed me. Naruto is a h3ll of a lot calmer, and he only uses "dattebayo" half as much as he used to. For me, one of my favorite things about Naruto's character was the over-use of "dattebayo." Now I count the times he says it. *sniffles* And the storyline went no where. It was just a bunch of reminiscing and the predictible Kage buushin followed by rasengan.

Then, it started picking up. You get used to the new Naruto, and I've almost started liking him more then before (God he reminds me of the fourth--which has nothing to do with anything...). If you give it a couple episodes, the storyline gets really good. So, yeah. I'd watch it. And if you don't like it at first, don't give up. There's only eleven episodes out so far, but the next one comes out this Thursday.

I'm still scared of how much most of the characters changed in the two year skip. Well, physically.

I think we're finding a lot in common.

If I were you, I'd watch the final filler arc (Shiitenshounin arc) which starts around...oh man I can't quite remember right now. I think it's maybe 216 or 17, but it ends with the original show on 220. It's where they have to go help the Sand Village. A few of the scenes and elements of it are even in the first few Shippuudens. It's actually worth watching, especially if you like Gaara.

Also, if you want to watch them in high-def, I know of a website you can use. You need a bittorren client, but it's a lot easier to see then you tube. Very clear. I got fed up with YouTube when they had to take down a bunch of the Naruto because it was lisenced. I actually had to watch a few in english. Man was that a nightmare. Jiraiya went from "ero-sennin" to "pervie-sage." And...man the dubbing's just all around terrible...But anyways yeah. Just thought I should throw that out there.

Thanks for the link and information, should be useful. Anyway you talked about the english translation, its crap ain't it. I live in england so whenever I put Jetix on, its the english version. When compared with the japanese version I watched on youtube, you can see a big difference. The characters words have been altered like you said with ero-senin being translated to pervie sage. Quite annoying. It really got to be when they just got him saying 'believe it' over and over. Almost in every sentence. I almost went mental!!!

Not much else to say now, we need the other members to become more active! This seems such a waste for my 666th post. It should include something evil!

I've been getting into a lot of english vs japanese anime discussions lately. I'm actually being forced to watch Inuyasha entirely in english because, try as I might I can't find it in Japanese. It's like pulling hair. He's always grunting. It sounds....really....wrong. Hahaha....but, that's really got nothing to do with Naruto...

I watched the first couple episodes in english, and then part of the Gaara vs Naruto fight in english. The "believe it!" thing got reaaaaalllly annoying for me as well. They had to have a repeated word, but they could've picked something else, or just kept 'dattebayo." It's just not...right. I doesn't really fit Naruto. I mean, sure he wants people to believe things, but that doesn't mean he's just going to go off shouting "KAKASHI-SENSEI! WAIT UP, BELIEVE IT!" But, alas, he does......At least they say "Kakashi-sensei" instead of like "Mr. Hatake" Oh my god would that be corny....


Another thing is the jutsu translation. I mean, when the say "Katon: whatever comes after it no jutsu" it sounds really cool. But when they go "Fire Element!" You just kind of...gape at the...injustice done to the fire jutsu.

Then there's the voices. I don't want to even go there.

Well, I can't help you salvage your 666th post, but I could attempt to make your next one better. Like say...we could talk about the villains or something.

What's your take on Orochimaru? I personally hate him, but everything he says can be taken very...wrong. Especially the scene where he's taking a shower and is whining to Kabuto about how Sasuke isn't there yet, and he needs a container. I dont really even want to put it here...I take things wrong a lot...heheh.

Anway, I love his attacks. The Hidden Snake arms" thing is pretty awesome, as well as the fact that he wields the Kusanagi blade!! I did a lot of researching on Orochimaru a while back, and found the origin of his name.

It comes from a legend about a guy named Jiraya who uses "toad magic" that falls in love with a princess named Tsunade who uses slug magic. (Hence, the fact that Jiraya calls Tsunade "Tsunade-hime" which means princess Tsunade in the japanese version). Jiraya's mortal enemy is named Orochimaru, who uses snake magic. I can't remember all of the other details, but I thought it was really cool where the Sannin's character's originated from.

But, I traced Orochimaru further. The Orochimaru from the legend's name came from a serpent like beast with three heads from Japanese mythology named Yamata no Orochi. The story goes, that a guy was kicked out of heaven by his sister who was a godess, and meets this family who is having their daughters stolen by Orochi. They have one left, and the want to protect her. So, the guy asks for three large vats of sake. He gets them, takes them to a meadow, and sets them in a semi-cicle. Orochi comes and sticks each of his three heads into the vats, become drunk. The guy kills Orochi, and finds th Kusanagi Blade in him. One account said his stomach, but another says the throat, which is where Naruto's Orochimaru stores the Kusanagi.

Yep, then I spent twenty minutes on the Kusangai blade.

Well you can always send your chunnin exam answers to me, I am second in command when Ed's away. And yeah, he ain't been on msn or myspace in ages from the looks of it. That just drives me nuts. Also if you want to do your jounin test after it, just ask me ok?

Anyway, that information you've found on the Orochimaru is quite interesting. It seems that most anime, games, etc do get there ideas from old legends and myths. Still the story that you just told us really does fit in with what they've done in Naruto. My personal view of Orochimaru though is quite mixed. Originally I didn't like him. He was evil yeah with some of the stuff he did but the voice just put me off a bit (probaly because he was using that grass ninjas voice). still we some of the stuff he's done like

Spoiler: Kill the Third hokage and the kazakage(sp?), used everyone who joined him in experiments, curses powerful people (the sound five and Sasuke), almost killed Tsunade

Thats sort of stuff was just evil. As I'm sure you know the murderous background on Itachi theres only one really thing I could add about him. His name, like most people in Naruto, means something and I was quite spurised when I found this on wikipedia. The name Itachi in japanese means 'weasel'. So his name could have been given because of this acts on how sneaky and cunning he was. Well thats my small piece of useless information.

As for the english versions of Naruto , currently in England they are showing one episode a week. So They'll play one for seven days then move to the next which gets kind of slowly I think. Anyway its upto about episode 50/60 now with Naruto VS Neji (sp?). I'm suprised they've kept this anime going on english TV becuase theres so much blood and stuff coming up. Its going to be a pain when they remove most of it.
