I just found my Bloc Party CD, and am remembering how much I like them. I think that they, along with The Killers and Razorlight, are the only decent band to have come out of this whole 'new music' phase. You know, the Kaiser Chiefs and the Zutons and that crew. The drumming on Silent Alarm is amazing. Like Eating Glass, Helicopter, Blue Light, Banquet, The Pioneers...hell yeah. They really set off the whole trend for quick, clean guitar with choppy drums (to the best of my vague knowledge, at least...) Bloc Party...they're weird. Sometimes I can't stand them, and then the next day I'll think they're great again. They depend heavily upon mood. So. Bloc Party - discuss. Love or hate? Or are you just indifferent?

Anyway, I have Bloc Party's first album, which, like Shiva/Govinda/Sredni Vashtar, I love on occasions, but tend to avoid the rest of the time. It's strange, because they're very talented musically, their singer Kele is a great lyricist (much better than the rest of these new wave British bands' lyricists, for sure), and they are pretty good every so often. But as above, enjoyment their music depends heavily on the mood you're in.

| | Yeah I like Bloc Party. I think the whole european/british dance/indie/new wave/post punk rock (whatever you want to call the music) thing is getting way too played out though, but I definitely enjoy the music of Bloc Party. Razorlight, I don't mind either, but I don't like them as much as Bloc Party by any means, I loathe the Killers though (I do like that their lead singer rips on My Chemical Romance though, because I hate them even more )The only album I own from them is Silent Alarm, I am like you that sometimes I love it and others times I can't stand to listen to it. I think I just overplayed so much when I first got it that I need a break from it. How many albums do they have have anywayz?

| ...Shocking... heh... | I'm a big fan of Bloc Party! (seen the lyric quote under the name?) I have to say Matt Tong (the half-chinese and usually half-naked drummer) is an incredably talented musician and seems like a really great person too. Silent Alarm is definatly one of my most-played albums, in particular Banquet and Helicopter. Unlike what Srendi and Dyluck have said, I actually find it an album which can be listened to any time, whether you're happy, sad, angry etc. Kele's a good lyricist, which is always a good factor, but I also love the harmonies and voice workings he has with Gordon (bassist). The voices worked really well together on Two More Years, the standalone single they released. I'm definatly getting A Weekend In The City the day it comes out. I've already heard The Prayer, which has a slightly dark vibe, with really low bass and backing vocals. Again, the drums are good, and theres also a bit of synth in it. They're nex single from that album is being premiered tomorrow on MTV2. I'm actually such a sadact its written on my calender. 5th of February peoples!

1,536 | I remember that single you referred to, Storm, Two More Years. I really loved that song when it came out; I was stuck in school and had, you guessed it, two more years to go... They annoyed me though. They released Silent Alarm again, this time with Two More Years on it (Silent Alarm + 1, it was called); I already had the album and wasn't about to buy it again. Buggers.
