Sorry for the recent 'long' downtime... which was about 10 hours. I have a server monitor that is supposed to call my cellphone, but the recent downtime wasn't necessarily a server issue. For some reason something overloaded the memory on the server and it just basically locked up... so the server was responding, just had nothing to say... Anyways, I told my tech. to upgrade the ram and do what is necessary to keep the server 100% intune all the time. Just wanted to give a quick update; I hate when things go down, so I'm sorry for the downtime!! steve | ||||||||

| | Probably over the next few days there may be some slow times, but I just finished configuring the httpd.conf and php.ini files to the most 'optimized' settings recommended from server professionals. I also added a compressor to Apache, so all pages will be decreased 40-60% of their file-size. This should help on the server load. I just did a reboot, and I already see improvements. Things should really start being better. As far as my cell-phone reports. I juse a program called Website Monitor. It simply pings thefinalfantasy.com every 5 minutes. If the server doesn't have a response, it will send me a text message saying the server is down. It really isn't 'too' detailed, but that is all I really need. I may get something more detailed later, but that will cost some money. Anyways, i'll keep you guys updated in this thread if I do any further improvements to the server. | ||||||||

| | If you have been on the site for the last 12 hours, you have probably noticed some heavy lag and downtime... I apologize. I was literally working on upgrading the server ALL night. I finally installed eAccelerator on PHP4... this will GREATLY increase script execution time by 5-10x. All compiliations and page loads now will get cached in a temp. folder I made. This should help on the server load and hence will help on lag times and server errors. this will hopefully be the last upgrade, so I believe TFF is going to stay up 100% of the time now. thanks for your patience! | ||||||||
