| | Ha, i knew this topic was going to come up! I have a few theories/facts about this topic, i'm not really sure which is true if any. 1.) If you are going by the the mythology set in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, you are right, Vieras are all female. (and Bangaas are all male) Then how would they reproduce? Well one could believe that they are "created" through the wood somehow. 2.) If you aren't going by the mythology in Tactics Advance, you could treat Vieras like the amazons of greek mythology to which they resemble. In that mythology, all men born to amazons are either killed or given away. To keep themselves from dying off though, the amazons would visit nearby villages of men soley to reproduce. If the child would be male, the male tribe would get it, or female the amazons would keep it. So possibly there could be male villages of viera that you never encounter in the game. (the two men in bhujerba somewhat resemble viera) 3.) A third theory would involve bangaas and viera mating, definitely the least believable for the blood lines would become very tainted but who knows? ..anyway you look at it, square probably didnt intend people to look that much into it and possibly there is no real answer. ![]() oh yeah and about "Kupo", it's just what moogles say, it's been their trademark saying for years. Don't know what it means about "kuuuupppo."

10 | There are female bangaas. Unless...Ba'Gamnan's profile in the bestiary is totally lying to me ;o; (It states that one of his lackeys is female.) As for vieras mating....viera equivalents to manthras, maybe? :x

| | Yeah i could be wrong there, i thought that was what they said in FF T: A anywayz..but hey i think good ol wikipedia, source of everything just solved the problem: "The Viera are a character race in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Final Fantasy XII. The Viera are divided into two sub races, the light-skinned Veena and dark-skinned Rava. Male Vieras are rarely seen, but do exist in hidden forest villages. The Viera have rabbit-like features, most notably their long ears. Their slender forms and long ears heighten their senses and speed, and although their defense is low, Viera agility and finesse are unmatched by any other race. In fact, Viera can listen to the surrounding nature and sense Mist, sometimes go berserk from feeling a overwhelming vast quanity of mist. Piercings on the ears seem to be very common as they appear on all official Tactics Advance pictures of Viera. In Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Vieras have blue-white or purple-white hair, with only a few having hair that is pure white, which is considered to be a blessing. In Final Fantasy XII, they live in Eruyt village within the deep Golmore Forest, intimately tied to the "Wood". Mixed breeds of Veena and Rava Viera have accustomed themselves to coexist within Hume society, while the pure-blooded ones remain in the forest, learning about the outside world through the voice of the Wood. A Viera that moves out of the forest, like Fran, is considered an outcast and dead to her people." So i was right..the Rava are like the two men who work for the Marquis in Bhujerba i believe. It's funny because that is in the general "Final Fantasy Races" topic, but in the separate, more specific "Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced Races", it does actually say that viera are all female. Kind of contradicts itself i'd say. ![]()

I have noticed that all Viera I have seen in the game appear to be female. Does this mean that they are a-sexual? Or is there some secret to how they reproduce? I have not found anything anywhere that explains this. Does anyone care to speculate (or inform, if they know something I don't)?

149 | Here! Look at my name. I'm the biggest fan you can find of the Viera. On a website I found, they didn't tell much about Fran. Most of it was Unknown. This - Name: Fran Age: unknown Hair Color: White Eye Color: Brown Race: Viera Home: None/unknown Occupation: None/unknown Weapon/s: Many Personality: As Balthier's companion flying about Ivalice on his airship, Fran is unusually skilled. She is agile and quick, and can wield any weapon with ease, although she excells at grappling and fencing. In addition, Fran is one of the Viera race, a people skilled in battle, and with the appearance of a half-human, half-rabbit. Fran Webpage

149 | The site has a nice look to it. Not much info yet. I don't think the person who made it finished the game yet. =P I found another site that tells about almost all the races. They say about the Viera -- Tall and thin, vieras are people of the forest. Known for their long, slander bodies, tall ears and beautiful silver hair, the viera can live up to three times as long as average humes. With two different varieties, Veena Viera have white skin and Rava Viera have brown skin. Had it not been for their height and long ears, this race would closely resemble the humes. Having a greater sense of sight, a viera can spot and catch her prey from 10 km in the distance. Viera's great sense of hearing allows them to make out even the different sounds of footsteps. Over 450 years ago, the ancient homeland of the viera was destroyed in war. Having lost great portions of forest to conflicts, some vieras started to live amongst the Hume. Mixed vieras of Veena and Rava lineage easily integrate with Humes. Pure-blood vieras remained in the forests, keeping their ancient traditions. The site where I got this from.

| | That's the same info I read on the races page at FFXII.NET. heh well, I'm still looking as well. I just found this site. I found this there: Viera Viera first appear in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance then Final Fantasy 12. The main thing you'll notice is that Viera are bunny like humes. They are tall, live long lives, are sensitive to hearing and have a higher speed to that of humes. The viera also are sensitive to mist, which Fran displays on a number of occasions during the game. When a vast quantity of mist appears Viera's can go into a beserk like state. There are two types of Viera. Rava who are the Dark Skinned type, and Veena who are the light skinned type. Viera are a mainly female race but there are some male viera apparently, a few in Final Fantasy XII however I have never personally seen any. In Tactics Advance Viera tend to have Blue-ish or Purple-ish hair and only rarely have pure white hair. They live deep in the forest's of Ivalice hidden from the rest of the world. In Final Fantasy XII, Eruyt village in Golmore Forest is where the Viera reside. To leave the forest seems to be a bad omen to those who have never left. Leaving the wood after time stops the Viera being able to hear the forests voice, dulling their ears. Fran who travells back to Eryut Village during the game ask's Jote to talk to the forest for her as she can no longer 'her' anymore. Also leaving the wood makes you become an outcast and no longer a Viera to the pure Viera of the wood. Which is why when you return to Eruyt for extra quests etc, you will notice Fran will never enter with you. However many Viera leave the wood, out of curiosity and also because of Archadian forces slowly depleting the wood itself. Last edited by asa.rand; 01-09-2007 at 11:36 AM. | ||||||||

149 | I was really suprised. I never really noticed that there weren't any male...on another forum they have a "use wood for fertilization" theory to reproduction on the viera. Though, those people can be gross yet funny. They say "they rape giza plain bunnys" theory, too. They also say: The Gerudo are the all-female race of thieves in the Legend of Zelda series... By legend a boy is supposed to be born in their races and he becomes king... bla bla bla... They might do it the same way. Anywho, never really was explained how the Gerudo reproduce either, but I'm sure they do it the way Amazon women do...

| | I guess being a guy I'm prone to notice when there's a preponderance of females about. heh ![]() I'm always fascinated by the idea of races that don't need (or appear to need) opposite sexes to reproduce. Don't know why. I have noticed, though, that more often than not the races depicted this way are female in appearance. Hmmm... | ||||||||

Anyway, Viera wouldn't be able to go by the way of Amazons ... they either kidnapped female children from neighboring villages or visited another village purely for reproduction purposes. Plus, they're very mellow so I doubt they'd "rape bunnies" or wood for that matter. I'd just take it as they put it, they come from the forest. What I'm wondering about is how they consider family systems. They don't note everyone around them as "sisters", only specific people. (see below) Maybe it's done by who raised them, although actual Viera "children" are never seen. I doubt it's from when they're "born" at the same time since there always seems to be an "older sister" kind of mentor / idol thing going on.
