This is definitely the weirdest thread ever.... However to be fair, i believe the group with rydia would win since rosa has an equal cast rate for holy/curaja, while Rydia's Bahamut would take out the othe party. Either way it is totally based on luck since whoever strikes first is in good position. I guess this question should be rephrased to Rosa Vs Rydia....

It kinda depends on what your level is. If your party is overleveled, they could possibly survive the Bahamut casting. In which case, if they were to take out Rydid the next round, the Rydid team would be in tough shape, without a strong healer and all.

I guess it would just come down to who is faster.

Well, Ryida would use Flare or some strong spell if she went first, Rosa would use Holy if she went first so i guess it all depends on who goes first. But i think Ryida would win.

A rather spammy thread, if I do say so. It's a bit too narrow. It would have been better if it were in the general Final Fantasy forum and worded like this:
Which do you prefer: A party with a strong Black-magic-user/summoner or a party with a strong healer?

I agree that it completely depends on the level of the party and who goes first.

If lower levels, then the healing party would kill the Black magic/summoner easily. Then they would have the advantage of numbers AND healing.

If higher levels, summoner cast bahamut, and the rest of party wipe out remaining enemies.

Either way, it depends on who goes first.

Yeah it does depend on who goes first, but stratigically Rydia can use Black Magic and Summon. Rosa is a white mage. Rydia can heal herself with Asura. So I would say Rydia would most likely win. And isn't there already a thread kinda like this?

In any given party setup in the game (with the following people in it), Edge, will get first step up to plate ... followed by Kain and then Cecil. (Higher Agility = faster turn speed) So there opens a few options straight away.. lets create a match say ~ Edge vs Rydia?

See a trend? Its truely based on who gets the first trump. Alot of times when a Black Mage manages to get first turn in.. SLEEP or STOP, other player is screwed.

Etc.

All out brawl though? if Rydia managed to cast BAHAMUT without being killed or silenced or slept.. she would wipe just about 3/4 of the field lol.

well, the group with rydia would probably win cuz all rosa can do is cast high level spells to heal and protect, but rydia can cast cast very high black magic spells, and i think rosa is very weak against those kind of attacks, and if she gets taken out firstm the rosa party would be depleted by rydia's powerful spells. thats just the way i look at it.
