FFXII Revenant Wings

Well sorta, they're definetely borrowing the same graphical style. Oh and the character designs are done by the FFTA/Children of Mana artist (Ryoma Itoh IIRC) not Yoshida (the FFIII DS/FFT/FFXII designer)

Details:
- Price/Date undetermined
- Battle screenshots released for the first time
- Movement scenes and battle scenes take place on the same screens
- Combat is realtime
- You move characters with the stylus
- Characters fight based on preset conditions automatically
- The concept is "showcasing a large cast of characters"
- Battles resemble Seiken DS (I dunno, sounds more Chrono Trigger-ish to me)
- Characters are small so combat can look confusing
- Summon beasts and big monsters like Ring Wyrms are 2-3 times the size of player characters
- You can flank monsters by simply sliding the touchpen
- Gambits and Mistknacks (Mist Quickenings) are expanded

Whaaaaat? No way, that looks awesome. Any more information you know about the game? This looks to be the second sequel of sorts, which includes revenant wings as well. At first before reading the thread i was thinking that was the game you were talking about..and i was gonna say..uhhh revenant wings a strategy rpg?

Anyways interesting info..is there any title? Is that on the DS or what?

Actually it's not really a sequel or anything. Think of it as an OVA type thing for anime. There's a section about this on my current Game Informer magazine as well. Vaan looks totally different. >>; So does Penelo. Penelo actually looks good looking. XD

This IS Revenant Wings, I'm just calling it FFXII-2 because technically it is, it was early in the morning, so sue me

Looks really good for being on the DS. I wonder who are those other two people though along with Vaan and Penelo though. It does remind me of Tactics/Children of Mana too now that I think about it.

Definately looks cool. I liked the look/feel of Tactics Advance, but this is going to have better gameplay if it is anything like the original Final Fantasy XII (and it appears to be very similiar)

it is revenant wings then. I hadn't seen any ingame screenshots of it and I definitely didn't expect to see this kind of strategic looking gameplay especially considering they are dubbing it as a dumbed down entry level rpg game. It certainly is looking nice, though it does remind me a lot of FF: TA.

It looks like they are both younger, from the drawings. I'm not sure what to make of this. It feels like a step backwards, rather than a step forwards. It reminds me of all the FFVII spinoff crap they made more than anything. Instead of working on something new and creative, they rehash old ideas in simplistic manners in order to gain a few extra bucks. 'ZOMG! It looks like Tactics and has characters from FFXII so people will buy it!' Uh.. whatever. If its anything near the horrendous job they did on their Devil May Cry rip-off (ie: FFVII: DoC), I won't waste my money on it. The story ended well in FFXII and there was no loose ends. There is no reason to make a spin-off of the game other than to cash in on 'supporting role' characters.

Oh, Revenant Wings?
Besides what Merlin is saying, at this age, kiddie graphics begin to put one off, so, no Revenant Wings for me.
But I like how many FF related things are making the jump to Nintendo consoles.
That DS is looking nicer and nicer to me.

wikipedia said that the sequel was to be about vaan becoming a sky pirate, but i guess none of us are really sure as of now. i like the idea though, i think its good that there making it for the ds, so if it sucks it wont be to big of a deal. lets face it se has dissapointed us with a few spinoffs and sequels. its a good idea i just hope the sequel can actually compare to the origonal

IT is NOT a XII-2 game, IT'S Suppose to be A PREQUEL. Get it right.
This should be the full trailer including CG scenes and gameplay. I think it looks pretty awesome, and NOT a waste of money.

So, since it's a prequel you don't really need to have played FFXII to play FFXII RW? I really don't want to buy FFXII, nor play it but I rather enjoy the DS and the Square-Enix titles that have came out for the DS/GBA thus far so I'd be interested in this if FFXII wasn't a prerequisite.

Hmmm..

are you sure it's going to be a PREQUEL? I was under the impression that it was a sequel atleast, especially since Fran and Balthier are in that trailer and Vaan doesn't meet them until the events in FF XII. I'm not too sure though.

I guess Great Fuji Writer explains it though...
