questions on magic

-sorry for the multiple questions in one thread, but I figured fewer threads means less clutter-

Here's the slew!
1)In going against a couple of hunts, I have failed to understand how to counter or block blizzaga. Reverse doesn't seem to work.

2)At what point in the storyline will I get blizzaga, or any of the advanced forms of spells? I like to level up my party while not proceeding with the storyline, and they are around lvl40, but I want some better magic.

3)What element is the brown mountain peak looking symbol?

4)Why do elemental spells I cast that correspond to what libra is telling me a weakness is wind up doing 0 damage?
