It hurts so much that I can't sleep...

Anyone else had an illness, infection or cut that hurt so much you couldn't sleep properly?

So lately, my hearts' been a bit ****ed. It hurts to breathe or move too much, because the problem also resides in my back and chest as well.

So anyway. I was taken off all types of drugs and shit, except for painkillers that don't really do the trick.

Last night, I was trying so hard to catch some sleep, but before I was able to sleep, I was laid in bed for like, an hour or so in pain because it hurt so damn much.

It's not a problem as much as it means I'm annoyed and tired constantly as of late. And to top that, I meant to be starting my job applications, which were meant to be done earlier this year, but were put off due to emotional stress.

So who else has been in so much pain they they can't sleep?
What was wrong with you at the time?
And how did it effect you?

Thanks.

If youve already been to the doctors and theyve given you medicine which doesnt work then go see them again soon however if you havnt been yet then go imediatley. If youve got pains in your heart then it could be bad.

It is bad.

And they took me off all medicines, only letting me continue taking painkillers I can buy easily from a shop. They know they don't work. But taking other stuff doesn't work. Taking perscriptions could just worsen my problem.

Thanks for the reply and advise.

I find it Ironic you posting this just after I stumbled upon this thread, funny how they both are from you (Not an insult, just a note).

I have trouble breathing at night, normally cause I squash myself up to 1 side and normally end up slamming my head into the wall. Oh and I wake up hot and sweaty often and my chest hurts whether I am in bed or not. No work = no need to worry about getting to sleep or not, I should become a writer or something equally as lazy.

Ouch.

Trouble breathing and pains breathing at night are horrible. I'm so tired all of the time, my hair feels greasy and I'm starving. It's obvious what I should do, but I'm afraid I might attempt eating shampoo and washing my hair with cereal or something.

I've had trouble sleeping due to pain when I had a major toothache, worst pain in my life to me so far. I don't remember If I ever managed to sleep during the pain, but I was pretty much dead tired until the doctors ripped it out and I could finally sleep and not be in pain. But that is something completely different.

Another cause of your lack of sleep could be the emotional stress caused by your pain, I've had similar experiences minus the pain. Whenever I had something very very important the next day like an exam, I could never sleep and It became common practice for me to stay up most of the night and drink 2 or 3 energy drinks just before the exam. So........ well..... try being..... no sorry I can't think of a way to solve emotional stress, maybe anti-depressants, but since you can't take medicines your just going to have to wait until you pass out, sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

HOOPING COUGH!!!. It is the worst illness you can have when you are trying to sleep (except for death, loss of legs, no eyes etc...). A single movement triggers a massive string of painful and bloody coughs. I suffered from it for about a week....A WEEK OF SLEEPLESS NIGHTS!!!! *sits in corner twitching*

Don't remind me of Whooping cough, that is the worst thing ever. Worst few weeks of my life by far. I never want to remember that again. My friend gave me that when I was like 14.. oh how I suffered. I didn't cough up blood or anything... thank God.. it was bad though.

Yes, I've had problems sleeping because of pain. I get this mysterious pain in my lower stomach which results in me throwing up. The pain is unbearable and I usually feel like killing myself because of it. It lasts for random amounts of time, it can last for a couple of hours or less than that. It goes away suddenly and it leaves me with really sore muscles. It is extremely difficult to sleep with that terrible pain, it's not good at all. Oh and no, it's not appendix. I think I have an idea of what it could be.

Oh man, I totally have a story here. This one time about half a year ago my buddy and I decided to start going to the gym and working out, seeing as how the one at the university is free because we're students. So we went and worked out and we both overdid it. However, I overdid it significantly more than he did. The next morning I woke up with INTENSE pain in my arms. It was so bad that I couldn't even straighten them out. They just hung there at angles. If I did try to stretch them out I usually ended up with tears in my eyes. It was terrible. You never realize how useful your arms are till you can barely use them.

But yeah sleeping was a taxing task. Oftentimes I'd wake up because of the fierce aching in my arms. I remember trying to stretch them out so that maybe they'd loosen up, cuz after I'd stretch them they wouldn't hurt so bad for a little bit, but it was awful. I was laying in my bed, arms outstretched like Jesus on the f*cking cross, nearly crying in agony.

Yeah, they were like that for almost a week. Ugh... Foolish I tell you.

That reminds me slightly of another story a few years ago where I strained the muscles in my stomach, legs and arms. Oh god.

The pain!

Seriously. One hundred sit-ups in one day is SHIT. Especially when you don't EXACTLY know what you're doing.

I have learnt my lesson now. I was stuck in days for a while when they happen. I was in pain whenever I moved slightly and breathed, so it was pretty much blink and breathing as silently and slowly as possible.

That gave me sleeping problems, a little. But I felt exhausted from all the pain and sit-ups, so that wasn't as bad. xD

Wow, can it really get that bad, I've had the same problem before but only in one arm and obviously not as bad as that. I'll be more careful from now on.

I used to get the whooping cough very often when I was between 8 and 10 and damn it sucked. I was because I used to be malnutritioned and suffered from anarexia. This was because of tablets I took due to ADHD, which I just found out a while ago I was misdiagnosed with. The tablets nearly killed me, because I wasn't meant to take them. I think Doctors need to take more care before they diagnose someone with these things. I obviously can't remember how I sleep then, and now that I think about maybe that was the most painful time of my life I just can't remember how it felt.

Sleeping is a problem for me at the moment, since spring has just sprung over here and I have killer hayfever. One side of my nose gets blocked, so I roll over and the other side gets blocked..etc. Lie on my back and snot runs down my throat with isn't that pleasant at all. Lie on my stomach and I simply can't get to sleep coz..it's uncomfy.

Also, another thing that provokes my sleep is *ahem* monthly pain.

Yeah, it sucked. I honestly dunno what I was thinking. It was the first time I'd lifted in almost a year, and apparently I thought I could handle a lot more than I actually could.

I know what you mean about doctors needing to be more careful, I have a friend who has a bad liver now because of a screw-up when she was in the hospital once. They flushed her liver for too long and it's weak now and she'll eventually need a transplant. I know she has trouble sleeping because of it sometimes because she gets these weird abdominal pains that come in spasms.
