Crapcom needs to get it's act together and come up with something new. The combo games died after Capcom vs. SNK 2. Megaman is dying (which annoys me because I love it so) Street Fighter IS dead, Onimusha is old... I could go on forever. Instead of rehashing more crap, they should make something original.

There are plenty of new and original stuff from Capcom like Okami, Godhand, Ultimate Ghosts 'n' Goblin came out not too long ago. RE4 was original and they're coming out with DMC4 sometime next year probably and they have dead Rising and alot more should be coming too.

I think capcom is gettin old too..they've been relying on their old franchices for YEARS, though there are a few exceptions..

Resident Evil 4 is one..damn that game is sweet.

I loved the onimusha series..well it was supposed to be a trilogy but now they are making a 4th one that doesn't even involve the storyline or characters of the original. Smooooth one capcom

I did enjoy the marvel vs capcom games..i have both for my dreamcast, as well as capcom vs snk 2. But that series seems WAAAY played out. And the only reason i have them is because i didn't have to pay for them. Maybe if they did something new and original with the series i'd play it, but not if it was more of the same old stuff

PS. Clover Studios (who was behind Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and God Hand) is gone. Capcom shut them down. Those were the few original games coming out of Capcom, i heard that the team actually WANTED to leave capcom to do their own thing though.

I love the Marvel Vs Capcom games and would like to see another but I don't think it will happen. I forgot where I read but something happened... Damn my vagueness. But anyway, it would be great but no... I don't think it'll happen.

i agree there should be a third one i loved the other ones, of a matter of fact i have the second one i love playing it. the only thing is with making the third one which characters would be in what would the lvls be like and will you have to unlock the chracters like in the previous games in the series or will they all be presented to you.

The whole deal with Capcom is their 2D staff is GONE. KAPUT! Hell most of their SF crew made Super Dragonball Z. If there were any more combo games, they'd be done by SNK not Capcom. I'm HOPING that maybe if CFC DS does well, they'll continue the VS series. The sad thing is SvC Chaos was so sloppy (although it had a GREAT story mode), yet they fixed the problems and added a tag system, only to remove the Capcom characters for their Psuedo sequel, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum. With KoFXII using new sprites I hope that MAYBE we might see a SvC sequel with these new sprites.

Wow, that's really interesting i didn't know even know they were making a new game, let alone a card battle game! That should definitely be something to look for, is it for sure going to be released stateside? Just seems like a weird choice to do a card based game like that, but maybe thats just a personal thing.

I didn't know that about Capcom's 2D development team either. That makes sense though because wasn't Chaos developed by SNK instead of capcom? Kind of sux that game never made it to the PS2 cause of Sony's sprite-based game thing. I don't own an Xbox unfortunately.

Yeah, see back in 1999, the two companies drew up a contract saying they could each make something like 4 crossover games.

They never publicly said what counted as ONE game. What's weird is, recently SNK have been giving different statements about the VS games. CFC DS is the LAST game of the contract, but one has said they can still easily make new games using a new contract while another report says they're not interested in renewing the contract for more games. That's why I'm hoping CFC does well as it might convince them to continue. I'm hoping we'll see a DS sequel to Match of the Millenium, THE best handheld fighter ever made, and I DARE you to try and prove otherwise. Despite the hardware limitations (only two buttons, primitive sound hardware that had chiptunes and no voice work) there was so much here, character customization, a great story mode, full of mini games, and a well rounded roster almost on par with CVS2 (better than CVS1 anyway which felt more like "KoF vs SF with Special Guest Stars Morrigan and Nakoruru!" )

Now about Cardfighters Clash, the DS version is not the first installment, it originally made it's debut on the NGPC and was THE killer app mainly in Japan. It was like the "Mario kart" of card games, first of it's kind (an original made-for-a-VG TCG with franchise characters), fun, easy to get into, and addictive. Some I've talked to have bought TWO systems and games just so they can play it with friends and that spending 200 hours is NORMAL, seriously, ask ANYONE who's played it. I have a little, via emulation, and I really don't know why I haven't gotten one myself yet. Something about playing a Yugioh clone with just about any Capcom or SNK character you could think of feels so RIGHT!

KoF XI (which FYI can be loosely called KoF 2004 as it's the latest in the main 2D series after 2003, they only took an extra year in developing it and it shows) has been out in worldwide arcades for a while. A few months ago, the PS2 port (which actually adds a whole ton of stuff and has superior load times from the Arcade version) came out in Japan, and I nabbed a copy. Apparently SNK games have been popular in Europe, and it's being released over there, either late this year or early next year.

Sorry, I've mostly turned this into a Capcom vs SNK topic instead of Marvel. What I've heard about that is purely conjecture. There's a guy named TRIEU who'se known for his inside reports on Capcom and SNK. He's been right about some things, although sometimes, I think he tries to stretch theories and speculation into fact.

A couple years ago, when he went to E3, he talked to a Capcom represenative and they said they were managing to get the DC license and trying to reaquire the Marvel license to make essentially a Marvel vs Capcom vs DC. But something seemed to fall through with Marvel. At THIS years E3, Trieu insisted that Capcom's still secretly at work on a DC vs Capcom, although HOW they could do this with their 2D staff gone is beyond me, many have pointed to the possibility of a 3D engine (in response to SNK's moderately successful Maximum Impact franchise).

A lot of gaming reporters are still insisting that SF4 will be coming out, apparently for the PS3 (but if you've kept up, you know that it's become the next Duke Nukem Forever). And a funny fan theory is that SNK redoing the graphics from scratch may be an early response to SF4

I wouldn't worry, you haven't completely turned this thread into a capcom vs snk thread. You definitely addressed the continuation of the series and its all within the VS. universe anywayz right? You are definitely extremely knowlegable on the subject. Plus not many people seem to be reading this anywayz. Hopefully this can revive the the thread a little bit.

I'm not sure why SNK fighting games haven't been more popular stateside, didn't Sony actually look over their whole sprite based game thing to release Capcom Fighting Evolution in the US? Sony, those damn bastards.

That's interesting about Street Fighter 4 though..i'm gonna have to do a little research on the topic. That is HILARIOUS comparing it to Duke Nukem Forever though, though the fan theory does make some sense, I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

i think with all of the marvel movies and franchises making so much lately,that this game would just be the capcom franchises way of mooching off of marvel and getting a free ride to profits and publicity. plus capcoms franchises are pretty much dead,besides the resident evil titles which were pretty sweet. but we need to keep the new generation with some classic moods and have games like this available to them instead of games like frickin toontown.but i like the idea of this game and all of the other marvel vs, capcom games were pretty godd,so yea i think it is cool.
